Well my "personal" story ideas aside the most likely and logical is fairly simple. After the suicide mission, and you rescue her. Her loyalty to Shepard (and even more so if shes a L.I.) overrides Cerberus. So in turn she reveals what she was and why TIM planted her. She then uses her skills to help Shepard combat the Reapers however possible. Espeically if ME3 is to include any more missions along the lines of attack Cerberus facilities because TIM has started doing stupid $#!+ with Reaper tech as the new upcoming novel info implies he's going to be doing.

This revelation would need to occur sometime within the confines of the game itself. I assume this would mean some time during the events of ME3, now that ME2 has effectively been closed out.
Do you suspect that this would be disclosed during Shepard’s next dialog with Kelly?

If I was doing it then yes, especially if she was a L.I.  After the shock of actually getting away from the Collector  base and the near-death experience it would make sense for her to open up about it. Maybe if you didnt persue Kelly as a L.I., or depending on what you did with the base(Keep or Destroy)  it would still take additional dialogue but it would still come out through the course of the game.  Until the purposed final show down with TIM where even another layer gets exposed with the family connection.

GothamLord, thank you for your thoughtfully laid out answer.

I am looking forward to whatever surprises Bioware has laying in wait concerning Kelly Chambers; because in the immortal words of Cypher0020 “she’s freakin’ adorable…”Image IPB

You were eloquent and succinct in your description of Kelly, while I tend to…blah, blah, blah. I also noticed from your attached archive of fanfic you are also a prolific writer.  I hope you have considered adding a fanfic about Kelly Chambers, it is going to be a long road until ME3.

I'd be happier with a more dialogue and a small quest come ME3...

Big Kelly fan here... but, being a relatively "minor" character in ME2, I'd honestly be suprised if she ends up being brought back for ME3. Granted, if it happened, it would surely be a nice suprise, but I kind of doubt it.

The fact that the game records the dinner date we have with Kelly and when we invite her to our cabin suggests to me they have a further purpose for Ms. Chambers and an intention to include her in ME3.

Kelly is GREAT, and I think she will be back for ME3. Three cheers for the universe's most lovely Yeoman!

There is no girls gone wild video, just poor use of English on my part. Image IPB
Kasumi responds to the fact that you have had a dinner date with Kelly. Therefore the game recognizes that occurrence and has stored it.

Ahhh.... well.... I don't have any DLC so maybe I'm good? I'd hate for the game to see it as a cheat moment

Bioware devs have come on and said the dinner date was recorded, and that there would be consequences for that and possibly more. It was suggested that the tone of your interactions with kelly - flirtatious or just friendly - might affect any future outcomes, (possibly that you slept with her if you were flirtatious, or were just friendly if you were friendly) and that whether you invited her up after the game was marked in your save file too. This was long before Kasumi DLC.

Yeah! I'm a sucker for fanfics and cute pics.

That was quite a bit of work you put in your fanfic, and it was very entertaining to boot. Thank you for the read.

Your comments give me more hope about the inclusion of Kelly Chambers in ME3. The romance is not some last minute addition, and was set up with a mind that it could have a future impact to the game.  I don't see these issues as being relevant unless she is in fact included in ME3.

Well, the tone of Bioware saying that was a little bit of, "be afraid... be very afraid."

So it might just have negative consequences, but they weren't talking in a Kelly thread, on the other hand.

If I understand your statement and I’m not sure I do, that would simply relegate the Kelly romance as a trap. If only certain romances can be carried through in ME3 that invalidates the decision of thousands of players. I chose to romance Kelly Chambers and that decision only acts as an impediment in ME3 then it is not really a choice; I should therefore replay the game with one of the prescribed romances interests.

I only meant to clarify what we had heard, in terms of context. Nothing the Bioware dev's have said directly indicates the importance of the Kelly romance; which in fact, they typically consider an easter egg.

Sorry. Guess I'm just that pessimistic guy.
