Kelly's an awesome (and misunderstood) character. She might even be the best romance in ME2. I hope she's back in ME3 and her romance continues in a meaningful way. Her ME2 romance seemed to just be there for the lulz and as an easter egg but I hope this isn't the case.

I sincerely hope Kelly comes back in ME3. She was the only person who gave a crap about Shepard's feeling in ME2. I didn't have to jump through any hoops to earn Kelly's loyalty. She had my back from the start.

I don’t know why we can’t consider Kelly Chambers a romance option in ME2. The fact that a photo isn’t turned over and Shepard has no special cut-scene with Kelly as the Normandy passes through the Omega-4 relay I feel are irrelevant in applying this designation. 
 
In ME2 we can go from casual flirting, to having dinner, then hopefully moving to the “rescuing the damsel in distress” scene, and is finally followed by the seductive dancing of Kelly Chambers in Shepard’s private quarters (this is only done if Shepard is not currently in a relationship). I feel this illustrates a blossoming romance.
 
The fact that the game records both the date & calling Kelly up to Shepard’s quarters suggest to me that the writers intend to continue on with Kelly and Shepard’s romance in ME3.

It's funny, on the old website, there were two reactions to Kelly. Some thought it was awesome that Shepard could 'bang the secretary' and others thought it was pretty dumb. I wasn't really in favor of yet another fling for ManShep in the form of an unsuspecting crew member, but when you actually meet Kelly ingame, she's very different. She's sweet, open, free-spirited, sensitive, with a crazy side to her, smart, insightful, similar to Liara in a lot of ways.

It's funny how the 'non-romance' of the game ended up being one of the best ones.

And a  friendly chat sounds awesome, even if you are not interested in romancing her, kinda Dr. Chakwas style. Shep can share his/her feelings concerning his/her current LI or what future holds. Kelly is a good listener, so venting will be nice and productive for both sides.
