I just downloaded a mod to allow Ser Gilmore to be in Dragon Age: Origins alongside your PC (which I love - first time I played a Noble I was hoping he would show up somewhere) and I'm just wondering if anyone has done so before me and if it works. I'm very excited about this - he's a party member, a romance option for all races (and sexes) it says - and I would like to know before I get too excited and then find out it doesn't work out. Can anyone shed light on this for me?

Yep. I'm assuming you're talking about Immortality's mod. She did a great job on it! I believe that they've found a voice actor and are working on recording the lines.

Sadly, I haven't completely finished my playthrough using her mod yet. But I'm working on it. From what I've seen - it definitely works and it's very nicely done!

(with a big smile) Good. I'm glad. I'll just have to tell myself that it isn't his body you see when you're hauled into Fort Drakon, just some other guy who happens to look like him. :) It was such a shame that you only got to have him for a little while and the only thing he got do was kill rats with you. :( If you ask me, he should have been a possible companion from the start, Human Noble Origin or no. Especially since Duncan was at Castle Cousland with the intention of recruiting him for recruitment anyway. As a Cousland I'll be happy to have my old friend in the game with me and a new romance option. Good on you, Immortality. :)

Question about Ser Gilmore

Spoilerish

When you are captured, and put in Ft. Dracon, as they are panning to the cell, they show some dead tourtured prisoners. One of them is a red head that looks alot like our old friend. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that might be his body down there?

It is his body. After I read it in a piece of fanfiction (Soul Mates) I went and checked it out, took a screenshot of it in passing and then checked it out. Yes, it was him. :( I was devastated. Until I read that in the fan fic I was hoping that he escaped Castle Cousland in the end and would someday run into your Human Noble in the future. I don't know if I'd recruit him as a Warden, though - he wants to be one at the start but it sure isn't fun and glory like everyone thought at the start of the game. :)

It came across to me that Gilmore had a surprisingly clear-eyed grasp on some of the seedier/less heroic aspects of Wardening. I don't think he would be in it for the fun and glory.

This is why I'm so glad that this was rectified, even if it wasn't by the game creators. As I said, I am very excited about him being in the game with you and I am looking forward to everything he, as a character and warrior has to offer. And, hey, new romanceable character, another human man to choose from ;) which I always wanted but was sadly disappointed to find out there were no others but Alistair. So...yay! lol Plus, he pretty much grew up with your Human Noble. I like the idea that a lifelong friends of yours will be there to have your back rather than a bunch of strangers you meet throughout the game. At least, he would be someone to talk about your family too. You don't have that with any other characters in the game...well because they didn't know them...so I'm glad he'll be there.

Oh, I know, I just meant that being a Grey Warden is a lot less fun than you, as a player, think it will be upon purchasing the game.

(sorry about this) There's a lot of tough, very unpleasant decisions to make. It seems no matter what you do you hurt someone in some way or ****** someone off. Ah, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions so they say. :)

So how does he show up? He's just another recruit at Ostagar?

I believe he's in Lothering near the Chanter's Board.

I downloaded but coudn't get the mod into my game so no Ser Gilmore for me. If ya'll look closely its Mother Mallol's corpse under the Ser Gilmore corpse on the shelf. I was kind of hoping it was one of those lookalike face/hair things (Ever notice the 8 or so nobles repeated on the landsmeet floor in the cutscene with Teagan and Loghain going at it?). But seeing her just confirmed it for me. Gilmore is dead.

Wait, Howe got away with torturing a Revered Mother to death, too? Wow, he's audacious.

How does anyone spare Loghain when he allows all of this to go on.

Yikes I never noticed Mother Mallol. Harsh!

(I always notice the noble twins - the guy with the red handlebar moustache really sticks out. Attack of the Clones!)

Well, without metagaming only the HN knows who these people are.

That's assuming they are who we think they are.

But yeah, we don't want to start that discussion again. There's enough threads dedicated to it.

Cal your dwarf is adorable! Nice job on her.

HMMM and finding Gilmore/Mallol in Fort Drakon would make an interesting Fanfic (for a HN).  Maybe after i finish the one I am working on atm.

Mother Mallol!?  :crying:

I never noticed that... probably because I've never actually been captured by Cauthrien.  I can't stand losing to her!

Its worth doing at least once.  And save before you get captured, you can select to escape yourself or let teammates come get you.  Both have their giggle moments.  I think it also unlocks more game for you.  You can always go back and kill her after you get done trying all the other options
BTW my favorite two to come after me are Dog and Zevran.  (you can only bring 2).  Sten has a good line when he breaks you out of the cell too.

You can always just surrender and then rescue yourself.

sylvanaerie, Oghren and Zevran are great too, if you haven't tried that combination.

You can also check it out on youtube.

Yea I reloaded quite a few times when I decided to go with the break out thing and see what different combos did what. Thats how I noticed Mother Mallol under Gilmore in the cutscene before you wake up.

You're right. I didn't notice that that was Mother Mallol until you said so. That IS audacious and extremely evil. Even if, you know, I don't care for the Chantry much. Just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. (shaking head)
