Mostly for emotional and tactical reasons, not physical reasons.

So you're saying Asari are female because they look female? It's called convergent evolution. Their resemblance to human females is simply evolution favoring certain biological traits. That is why the majority of sapient life in the galaxy is bipedal and capable of speech.

Can't think of anything off the top of my head as far as Turian females go but even if I'm wrong about the Turians, it's still just Turians.

It's still just Turians, and Asari, and Humans.

Good god man, this is just getting sad.

The Asari are not female, they're mono-gendered which would still mean the majority of alien species, both council aligned and otherwise are patriarchal.

What the hell do you think mono-gendered means? Mono = One and we all know what gender means. So they are One Gender, or female.
Another round of applause for Busom's debating skills!

Looks like someone doesn't remember Mass Effect 1.  Remember the love triangle scene between Liara and Kaiden?  Liara explicitly corrects Kaiden when Kaiden brings up Shepard being into other women.
They're mono-gendered but not classifiable in conventional biological terms.

Looks like someone failed every science class they ever had. See, some hard work in school would have paid off for you!
Liara is trying to define how the Asari see themselves, they are all one gender so they do not have two gender classifications.
The codex even states that the Asari are an all-female race, Liara was just trying to explain it from the Asari's point of view. Not from a biological point of view.

The reason Asari look like human females is pure plot device and sexual enticment for male gamers.

Truth be told, finding another species anywhere close to looking like humans is almost statistically impossible.

Men genetically have the upperhand when it comes to strength but a skilled fighter wins the day, not who has the biggest muscles. And women can build up their strength so they can be just as strong as men.

And women can be more agile, do you really think you have time to catch Shepard and hit her weak spots, when she's been trained to block and avoid these attacks?

There be no women in the police force if they didn't have the skill and strength to look after themselves, we've already proven to them that we're capable, but you don't seem to have gotten the memo. We shouldn't have to prove it to every guy that we can be strong.

Plus, it's been proven that females have a higher pain threshold so that makes us excellent fighters.

Women be better off if you avoid women altogether. You obviously don't know how to respect and treat a women properly.

This is why I love going to these forums. XD

Anywho, i it makes you feel better, FemShep does have some unique ME2 renegade dialogue. Such as during the begining of the Archangel mission in the recruitment office when the guy calls her a stripper:

"Show me yours, tough guy. I bet mine's bigger"

Yeah, I must've fallen asleep during lectures about Asari physiology.  The codex also says the Protheans created the mass relays.  Why?  Because that is how humans and most species understand it.  I'll take Liara's word for it when she tells Kaiden she is not a woman.

What is this nonsense about women being more agile?  You like to make up facts.  Ever notice in professional running events that they have seperate divisions for both men and women and that the men always finish faster?

A cop doesn't need to be in peak physical condition to do his/her job.

You know if we were talking about MaleShepard romancing an asari character you'd quickly say "they're women!"

If not, then fair enough. But still; if they're "not" women then what are they? Snails? =P

A species does not have to male or female. Asari by nature cannot be female since there are no males amongst their species.

It would be like calling a protozoa a female.

No, you most likely fell asleep during a Biology lesson. Don't worry, it's not for everyone.
It doesn't matter if humans and other species see it differently, it matters what Biology tells us. If you had actually taken any sort of Biology course, even in kindergarden, you would learn about the different genders.
But how do people figure out gender classifications? Well, each gender has certain traits. But, hell, I guess you didnt know that.

Liara plainly states that the Asari are mono-gendered but male and female have no meaning to them because they do not use those terms. They are still female and she even stated that they have maternal instincts. Now wait... Aren't maternal instincts a female trait? *Gasps*
