Bioware, you have outdone yourselves here.
The Kasumi DLC has made me wonder, previously I assumed that all DLC was already created and the plan for release dates was already set. However, after playing through the Kasumi DLC it's obvious that this was not the case, and that your designers have improved leaps and bounds through the learning experience of creating ME2.
The quality of the Kasumi DLC shocked me at every moment, and it is on a completely different level than the rest of ME2.
(Spoilers)
Animation:
The facial animation (mainly, the rest is excellent too) on Kasumi, and also Shepard in the loyalty mission is outstanding, and you have used little tricks that are not present or arn't noticed in the rest of the game.
Example, During the shuttle ride to Hock's place, Kasumi looks at shepard through the corner of her eyes, for a split second. It was a real wow moment for me. It might sound strange for me to be so impressed by such a small thing, but that tiny touch cemented Kasumi as a 'real' character for me. Along with the quality of her model and textures I really had to sit
back and check I wasn't looking at a real person then.
The final scene where Kasumi is viewing the memories of her beloved is very touching, and the little touches you have made in animating her are just breathtaking. It braught a tear to my eye and made my really fall in love with the character... which is annoying because I want to romance her
Not being able to is understandable though, she is very distraught over his death.
Voice:
What can I say, the voice actress and direction is impecable. Kasumi is a brilliantly fleshed out and believable character...
Visuals:
The mansion is outstanding. The texture work and level design really is something else, especially in the vault. And as for the view outside! Just great. And Kasumi herself of course, I can't imagine how long it took to get that shadow over her eyes to look right with all types of scenes and lighting.
Audio:
The chinese-inspired soundtrack to the entire loyalty mission is so evocative, granting Kasumi even more believability and character and emphasising her asian heritage. Just brilliant.
Combat:
Challenging! I found the scraps to be the most challenging I've had in the game, and at some points I really had to look around and think of a plan. The AI was also pretty impressive too, flanking me and all sorts of things on the final platform. Very enjoyable!
Kasumi as a squadmate:
She kicks arse!!
I'm actually feeling a bit like a fifth wheel now! She often warps over and kills the enemies just as i'm lining up a shot. She is really impressive in combat, but I wouldn't go so far as to say she is too powerful.
I don't know if this is the right way to put it, but it seems like this character has been a real labour of love to the dev's. Yes the other characters have their abilities that fullfil roles, but Kasumi's ability seems less like 'a means to an end' like the rest, and more like another part of her overall character, again, making her more believable and real. Hope you understand, I don't know how to explain it.
____________
Final thoughts?
Kasumi is now my favourite character in the game. And that is VERY hard won because i'm one of the Tali-ites. But i'm afraid Tali will have to step down in my eyes.
The mission is also my favourite section of the game aswell. The atmosphere, the music and the voice acting all work together to really bring this character to life, more sucessfully than all others, in my humble opinion.
I REALLY REALLY hope that Kasumi is in ME3 as a full squad mate and romance option. It would be such a shame to see such a well designed, evocative and believable character disappear.
So overall, WOW. Thank you Bioware. I am even more excited (Didnt think it was possible) for ME3 now, if this is a taste of things to come....

PS:- Who voiced Hock? I know that voice and it's really getting to me now. He did a great job too!
