I have been playing with the BITM_base.xls file over the weekend and managed to change some armour values, crit rates etc...

However I have had mixed result and there are so many worksheets within it, some of which seem to have very similar columns that I don't know which worksheet I have to edit in order to get changes to appear in game. So far I have been editing the "ItemStats" sheet and the effects show up in game but I tried changing shield defense/ missile defense in the same worksheet and nothing happens.

To be more specific there are three sheets:
- BITM_base
- ItemStats
- _SourceData

All three of these have similar rows and columns but the only one which appears to have any effect is the "ItemStats" one. However I changed "Defense" and "MissileDeflection" floats for the shields and it had no effect, but when I change the "Armor" or "AbilityCostModifier" for a piece of armour it DOES show up.

I don't get it!?

I'm not certain, but I suspect shield ratings might be determined by materialtypes.xls, in combination with ItemVariations.xls. In which case, perhaps the BITM_base columns are deprecated?

Maybe someone else has better knowledge!

Incidentally, any sheet that starts with an underscore (e.g. _SourceData) is not loaded into the game, so you can be certain it doesn't affect it. Those sheets contain comments and depecated material.

OK still confused, it can't be in the ItemVariations because that is just specifying the different models available. It will be a bit lame if the only way to change the shield values is through editing the material types. Then all you can do is increase/decrease the values for shields across the board and you won't be able to tweak them individually.

Ok it seems that ItemStats worksheet is soley responsible for the in game stats and the reason why some changes weren't showing in game was because another installed mod was overwriting my changes.
