In case you didn't know: You can buy the exact amount of the needed 560 points through the dragon age website:

social.bioware.com/lockbox.php

When you go through the Mass Effect 2 DLC section (Games --> ME2 --> Official DLCs)you can only buy 400, 800 and up but not 560.

Now I just have to figure out whether Bioware is just impudent or plain stu....:pinched:

Bioware is not stupid, its the sad and pathetic way that businesses these days try to wrangle more money with the use of points (whose only purpose is to make people have to spend more than they have to). Now you either have to accept that you have bought extra points that you may never spend or waste them on the appearance pack, clever isn't it?

Shame it doesn't actually help us the customer, but as I am sure some people will come in and attempt to justify it, "Its business, don't like it blah blah blah" which is a sad indictment of the capitalist society we live in (as in, people think living in a capitalist society justifies screwing over the customer, when really its because we let it happen).

Well thanks to the OP maybe some people might not get swindled. DLC (microtransactions) are all about making money for very little effort (this doesnt necessarily include the Kusami pack).

So Im hardly surprised.

All you have to do is hover over 'Profile' on the left, click "Add Bioware points" and you get an option to purchase 560 points.Thats how i did it anyway.

I bought exactly 560 points by going through the profile page. Isn't that how you buy points? How else do you do that?

Even more clever than you think: When you buy 800 points you spend 560 for the Kasumi DLC and 160 for the Alternate Appearance DLC. Now you got 80 left. The Alternate Appearance Pack II however will cost 160 points again, so you have to buy more points. Minimum amount is 400, so you then have 480 and spend only 160 of them. This time there are 320 points left. And if the next big DLC will cost the same amount of points then the Kasumi DLC you'll again have 240 points to little.

It's a vicious circle...and it never ends. Bravo to Bioware! :?

Well I went another "obvious" way: Games --> Mass Effect 2 --> Official DLC --> and then I clicked "Buy now" at the Kasumi DLC. It automatically transfers you to the checkout, reports that you have too little points and offers you to buy more. You click "buy more Bioware points" and get redirected again to make your pick on the points, where you can choose between 400, 800 and 1200.

Maybe they changed it, maybe not. I cannot tell as I cannot recreate the process. I already have Kasumi and Alternate Appearance and when I try to buy it sends me to my "Your registered game promotions" site...

Well thx to OP for this info. I too hate those "points" system. Let me just buy the damn thing with real money instead of trying to scam me. I didn't want to buy the new DLC for ME2 because of this system but now that you have shown that we can actually buy the precise number of points I will probably get this DLC. So thx, m8!

Yup, that is exactly what happens. Well done BioWare, EA has taught you well

Sneaky and dishonest. Thats how I would describe the points system and pricing.

Good thread. Still undecided whether I'll bother with Kasumi, but this (which I technically already knew about) is useful info.

With the upcoming Overlord DLC I'd like to push this topic and let you know again:

Don't bother with the 800 points you can buy via the Mass Effect website. Go over to the Dragon Age website and buy the exact amount you need to get the Overlord DLC --> 560 points!

Bioware is still trying to screw us by not adding the 560 point option to this website. It's pathetic!

Since the DLC is out and there is still no 560 Bioware point option - I still had hopes until I checked a few minutes ago - this topic deserves another PUSH.

C'mon people, don't gift money to Bioware, just spend the needed amount of 560 points!

i wont be buying the DLC in this format of pricing. because like the gentleman said earlier if you have 320 points left and bioware never releases any more DLC your screwed. not that u are going to go bankrupt but its the principal, and this lack of ethical sales options doesnt surprise me by EA but it does with Bio, and i'd like to think bio has no power over those decisions... but maybe they do.

if you have random odd number left in your account at the moment then I can totally understand you not wanting to buy +400 or +560 but if your current balance is 0 there is an option to buy 400, 560, 800 or 1600 which is what the previous posting was complaining about

If you go (in the bar at the top of this website):

Games --> Mass Effect 2 --> Official DLCs

You actually DON'T get the 560 point option. It's the most obvious way to get to the Mass Effect 2 DLCs, or isn't it?

I just tried a few minutes ago, when I attempted to buy the Overlord DLC. It told me I have insufficient Bioware Points and offers me to buy some:

I click the button and it takes me here:

So there's your options: 400 points, which is too less, or 800 which are too many...

You're right though, when I use the "add Bioware points" in my "Profile" it takes me to the DA homepage. However, bet what link they'd use to announce the DLC? Surely not to the page where you can buy Bioware Points, but instead to the page where the DLC sits. Obviously. And from there it takes you to the page of my second screenshot.

If it's not a deliberate action then it's at least an accident and Bioware should fix the options. But then look how old this topic actually is. Bioware officials are all over the forum but still this "error" isn't fixed. Go figure...

I just buy the DLCs on xBox live and us MS points ... then you can spend them on ANYTHING and not just EA.

look at the side menu of the social account, Profiles => Add Bioware Points

my apology then since I didn't realise BW or EA or whoever runs the site likes to point to different pages depending on what links you click on ( total fail there, maybe someone needs to send a bug report )
