I dunno. I have purchased and downloaded it but it wont show up on the map. So it was a waste of money really.

It scales. I like to go there immediately after Lothering.
That sucks it's not working for you. Works perfectly for me.

hmm from my experience it does not scale, but yeah id say its worth going there as soon as posible, for starfang... then again that might ruin alot of the game for you if you want some kind of a challenge.

You can make it scale, sell it to npc merchant. Exit area, camp or whatever. Then come back again. You'll find the item scale according to your current level. Only item that has material listed can scale with this. Also becarefull since it also scale the requirement to use it also. I had tier 3 commander's set scaled to tier 7, and now it need about 43 or was it 48? strength requirement.

Could anyone elaborate on "Only item that has material listed can scale with this." please?

That means that items like the Warden Commander Chest (veridium) can be upgraded. If the name would be Warden Commander Chest (without material in its name) it can't.

I only needed to visit the merchant in camp to get the quest - the guy on the west side of the lake was for the Shale starter I thought?
Im about to go to Warden's Keep now, at lvl 14, I wanted to get the Shale questline out of the way first.

The thing with warden's keep is that if you sell an item to the blacksmith there, it will be made in new sort-of-level-appropriate materials when you talk to him next. Thus if you get the warden commander armor, sell it to the blacksmith in the Warden Keep, and buy it again you should be able to find it in dragonbone (after a few tries) making it quite good.
But of course, the cost scales too, it'll set you back nearly 30 gp so don't sell it if you're nearly out of cash.
I've only seen that happen with armor, incidentally - not shields, and not weapons.

Warden Commander's Plate scales. I got it at the end, when it was Dragonbone and amazing.
However, at the end of the game you get lots of armor options for plate and I replaced it with Wade's Dragonscale not long after. Early teens seems like a good time to pick it up, especially if you don't have blood dragon armor. It's a little disappointing how uneven itemization is--at the end game I had scads of amazing massive/heavy armor, enough good leather for an amazing suit and a pretty-good suit, and hardly any caster gear.

I suggest going as soon as possible so you have access to the storage chest and can get the meteor sword made once you get the ore. Getting the warden's armor early on is more helpful than getting it later on when you already have access to tons of high tired plate. You can always buy the upgraded warden's plate if you really want it as well.

Same here. I feel screwed over by the Delux Edition. <_<

Have you talked to Dryden in your camp? If not, you have to agree to help him for it to show up "on the map".
