Simple question (for those who do not want to read the details): Do I need to turn off hands + feet when making a custom robe?

Okay, so basically I'm learning the in's and out's of toolset usage, and I decided to learn how to retexture/make custom armor. I started simple by using a .dds I already had from another game to see if I could get it onto an armor piece for DA. So far it's coming along really well for a first try, except I've run into one snag. The gloves and feet are not disabled when I wear the robe I made, hence the gloves go overtop the robe and same with the feet, colliding together into an ugly mess.

Also, without gloves or boots on, the hands of my character also crash into the mesh like so:

My question is simple, will disabling hands + feet solve these problems? I imagine so, hence the real question of how do you do this?

Thanks for the help and pardon my inexperience!

I had a similar question on how to enable gloves and feet (or call the meshes) when something is a robe or clothing. I believe that if you're attempting to make a robe without replacing an already existing robe or clothing you'll need to add it to the clothing_variation gda file so that it knows it's clothing and not armor. But I'm not sure!

(EDIT)
Maybe more direct info on how to do this:
http://social.biowar...2077123#2080164

quote: just tested it and the items in your inventory are also affected. Changed the appearance of Shadow of the Empire to enchanter robe and it worked when i put it on. Keep in mind, in order to change item appearance to one of another class --say, make light armour item look like robe-- you will first need to change the "Base Item Type" to correct type, and that in turn will affect both base item stats and requirements to wear it. So if you wanted to make plate armour look like robe it'll require setting base item type to clothing and that will make the item provide as much armour as clothing normally does, i.e. none. The armour would have to be added as bonus power in Item Properties field.

Thank you very much for the in depth reply! So essentially you have to put your custom gda into the robe item set to fix this issue. That's unfortunate but easy to fix. Small sacrifice to get the finished product. I'll try it now!
