Who doesn't pick sniper as the extra gun (assuming you don't start with it)?

SRs suck on casters due to the godawful zoom-in when using abilities from cover. I can't stand that crap and I don't know how anyone can. Fills me with hate and rage every time it happens. Only class I'd take SR on as bonus is Vanguard.

Even being somewhat redundant with the Locust, the Vindicator is still great for Sentinels, Adepts and Engineers simply because they only have two guns. Another gun means more ammo.

Never bothered me on my Engineer. But then again, I always pause to use my active abilities so I can understand why it would bug a better, faster player than me.
I got the Viper on my engineer as it suits my cautious, defensive playstyle.

I always choose claymore as my Vanguard on Insanity, ever since the Locust came out there's really been no need for an AR.

Even if you use abilities from pause, it will still sniper zoom in to cast the ability. :/

+1

The zooming-while-casting makes me nauseous and just doesn't make any damn sense.  At the risk of sounding extra geeky, it's a severe immersion breaker because I imagine Shepard looking down the scope while casting incinerate, and that's just goofy.

For that reason alone I take the AR specialization, Vindicator is a good enough substitute for the Viper, and I'm not skilled enough to use the Mantis in real time.

I know, still never bugged me (if you were replying to me). I think I'm the only one on the forums who didn't get annoyed by this!

I take the eviscerator for my casters now that we have the locust. I dislike sniper rifles in this game and I hate the zooming-while-casting even more.

When you have the locust, the Viper is the better choice. You can unload a couple clips really quickly on a scion with a viper and kill it. It's too big a target and too slow moving to have much trouble shooting it. Same goes for the other big hulking armored types that like to close in like the YMIRS and the Geth Primes when they're down to armor. I like the vindicator a lot, but the locust/viper combo is more effiecient for adepts and engineers. I took the shotgun for the sentinel though.

Got to the Collectors ship last night and took the AR (If it aint broke then don't fix it I say) for my Vanguard. The Locust only has 20 round clips and it doesn't rapid fire as fast as the Tempest (which you need for shields and barrier). On an Adept the AR is still the best choice for medium long range.

Viper is excellent with the Engineer, because Engineers have drones. Just cast attack drone on the nearest enemy at medium-long range and viper him to death with squad incendiary or disruptor. Of course there are many situations where there are just too many enemies to be able to use Viper effectively, but at times where you can easily single out opponents, the Viper does the most damage from the safest distance.

All may characters get an assualt rifle. What is the point of having 30 rounds when you can have 127? Vindicator + locast makes an engineer one bad#%$ fighter at medium range. Also, staying to snipe a target is no good when you're on insanity. aiming and getting a perfect headshot while getting shot at when you have little life is a suicide attempt.

Revanant Soldier

Shotgun/Sniper Adept

Sniper/Shotgun Engineer

Claymore Vanguard

Widow Infiltrator

Sniper Sentinel

I never take the Assault Rifle on anything except the soldier any more cause of the locust.

This really bugs the hell out of me on my Infiltrator as you get slowmo casting & end up getting shot more<_<
That being said i still love the viper rifle & take it every time:wub:

Yeah it's part of the reason I've taken points away from Incinerate on mine (the other part being the many many times I watch in slow motion as it hits a wall). If I'm going to zoom in and go into slowmo, I may as well just shoot instead of casting.
