Im right where you have to choose between the two.  Whats the consequences, a little afraid of the outcome of choosing sides here unless theres none really?

Thank you for helping me out

Well if you choose caridan -- you have to fight branka and get a really nice mace. Also caridan gives you a crown to give to the king of your chosing.

I am on my way to the second play through and gonna choose branka this time.

FYI -- Dont take shale there with you!! you will lose him

If you choose Branka, you lose Shale. Choosing Caradin lets you keep Shale and opens up Shale's questline, "A Golem's Memories".

If Shale isn't in your party when you arrive at the Anvil of the Void and you have a good persuade (don't know how good it needs to be) you can keep him in your party /and/ support Branka.

So what do you get for backing Branka? Did everyone back Caridin?

If you side with branka you get 4 metal golems for the last battle (they are really powerful, played on nightmare and they were nearly unstopable if you kept them healed.) and the crown

If you side with caridin you get a mace(you probably have better weapons tho), a side-quest for shale and a crown

For shale... just don't have her with you if you side with branka and everything will be alright.

Do you have to have shale in your party at the time to trigger the side quest?

No. You can get him later, and he'll ask about it: just tell him the truth, for Caridin, and you'll still get the quest- he'll want to go back there.

I don't know if you can still get the quest if you side with Branka (without him in the party) and convince him to stick around.

I suggest you side with Caridin, just because Shale's awesome.

Hm. I'm wondering if the scene is different if shale is actually there.

Slightly. He gets recognized by Caradin, and if you side with Branka he leaves the party and attacks you.

I personally found it difficult to make a choice for this encounter. On one hand I wanted the golems for later, on the other, Branka is bat**** crazy evil. That sort of moral dilemma is a big part of what makes the game so fun.

As a true patriotic dwarf, I backed Branka. (I found dwarvenkind's greatest treasure, I'm not going to destroy it! Her line that the dwarves are not meant to be a crumbling people sold me. Plus, GOLEMS? I already made the mistake of recruiting the wussy elves instead of the awesome werewolves, I need something cool for my army. The dwarves already have the Legion of the Dead, this didn't seem much different to me.)

Branka forges you a crown to give to a King of your choosing. The King (Harrowmont for me, but probably Bhelen, too) is pretty excited about recovering the Anvil of the Void.

If you haven't recruited Shale yet, you can pick him up later. (Though at camp, when you talk to him, he immediately expresses his disappointment that you killed Caradin, and disapproves my 20+ points.)

Yea, But if your a patriotic dwarf..why would you want to basically murder them to create golems?

i backed caridin. this was one of the two fights i had to dum the AI to easy for... and im ashamed. simply because you are trapped in there, i was down to like two pots, and none of my chars healed, was dps morrigan, the dwarf i currently forget, and leliana. i did my best but just couldnt pull through, simply because branka hits like a truck.

I admit to dumbing the AI down to easy for this one, too, because I was completely out of everything after the Brood Mother fight and all the golems. (It really galled me, having played most of the game on Hard.) I was not going to go all the way back to the elven town to buy a big stack of Elfroot to make more.

The dwarfs already have the Legion of the Dead, turning them into Golems seemed like that, only more so. (I think the Legion shrine was the niftiest part of the game for me, actually. After battling endless darkspawn, and the hallway of horror approaching the Brood Mother's door, there's a quiet reminder of dwarvenkind's constant, Churchillian resistance against the darkspawn. It's too bad all those spirits aggro on the way out.)

Well here is sort of what happens.

I sided with Branka so most my info is about that side + sideing with harrowmont.

Branka gives you both the dwarf support and golems the negative part is what happens after the great battle with the archdemon...lets just say the dwarfs dont get liked alot. She also seems like the evil choice.

Caridin does seem like the good choice here i did not chose him though.

A big problem here is this you are a grey warden who has to sacrifice a few to save many. Getting golems in your are = kickass sacrificing 1 dwarf for 1 golem = 1 golem worth maybe 50 dwarf warriors. So the "good" choice would be to destroy it but at the same time you might just sacrifce the one thing that can save thousands of lives or atleast hundreds of lives in the battle to come. Sure Branka is crazy but hey who aint a bit anyway :D Also i got shale after i killed cariden since my content wasent getting added untill after orzammar you can either tell him/her that you dident find him or a few other lines when he/she askes about him and what happend in the deep road. I did not get the side quest in anyway though i went to the anvil area and checked the wall of names and shale said something about finding a way to write the info down dident find it though.

Also on the werewolf part i found the middle ground were the elves and werewolves sort of came to turn = no werewolves :( just dalish so doing that is like sideing with the dalish just that you get a diffrent ending of the game and a little diffrent out come on the quest.

i was gonna go make more pots too, go back to my elves and then camp and then go back... but brankka traps you in there, just before the trials. no way to get out at all.

Speaking on the Legion of the Dead, I don't remember seeing them at the final battle.... and I did persuade them into helping. Hmmmmm.

Are the Legion of the Dead not part of the Dwarven Army?

Yes, they are. Clearly the tattoo-faced one was there during the end fight, I even talked to him.

In my opinion Brankas decisions were so sick, that I had to take Cardins side. If I could I had de-paragorned her also.^^

The legion of the dead are not the dwarven army. The warrior caste is.
