Do you have a warrior tank with taunt? Make all enemies glue to your warrior tank, then pick the golems off one by one. Try to stun Branka often, but kill her last.

Edit: Make Wynne give Heroic Defense to your warrior tank. The 2 friendly golems aren't that strong, better to let your warrior tank handle all the damage, and make Wynne heal your tank instead.

I have paralysis and sleep but they don't work on Golems and Branka sometimes resists them so they do no good. I use the CoC/Stone Fist. Also, Wynne cannot seem to help my 2 Golems as far as health is concerned?

Paralysis should work on golems.  CoC is good.  I'd actually save Stonefist for knocking Branka down if she starts chasing a vulnerable party member.

I'd work my way up the "golem food chain" on this one, starting by swarming the weakest, then the yellows, then Branka.  Ignore the friendly golems; they are there to absorb damage.

If Branka targets a party member, try to get out of range and let the other three members pound away at the golems.  Remember the lyrium veins.

Especially if you turn down the diffculty, this should be quite winnable even with a poor party build.

I will promise you one thing Bioware, I will never buy a game from you or anybody else for that fact, I'll just wait and dl it from some torrent site after it has been cracked. And they all eventually get cracked. Thank you for opening my eyes and letting me know why you screwups should be hacked.

While I understand Victory at any cost and what not, I have to wonder what exactly is victory? Is it simply the defeat of the darkspawn? If that's the case then what exactly makes the darkspawn more vile than say a mad woman forcing people to go under an absolutely brutal and terrifying process that turns them into a slave? I'm not fighting the darkspawn because it's just a fun thing to do, but with purpose of actually making the world a better place. If by killing the darkspawn I make the world just as bad or if not worse then what the darkspawn would do to it then what is even the point?

I 'll destroy the anvil every single time. 4 Blights had previously been destroyed without it anyway, and if it was the dwarves panacea then why did it fail the first time they used it?

Well I understand to choose to destroy the anvil would be the morally high thing to do, I just can't resist the urge to have Golems on my side against the Darkspawn. It's so tempting to have a giant swarm of stone juggernauts that can hurl earth and crush Genlocks like they were insects.

Branka locks me in a tunnel to further her ends. I would have killed her just for that.

But she is probably the better option for the future of the free peoples as otherwise you find this treasure and all you get out of it is a crown. And then a bad king no matter who you pick.

My first play through was as a dwarf noble. Knowing perfectly well how bad the situation was for Orzammar I decided to preserve the anvil.

I don't think Bhelen is a bad king.

Yah the raids against Human and Elven villages, or the rounding up of casteless are all good reasons to save your bearded arses. Bhelen with his reforms does perfectly fine without the anvil.

As dreadful as Branka is, I don't know if the moral position is really that clearcut.  After all, if enslaving a few dwarves to make golems is the only way to save tens of thousands of people, you could argue that it's justifiable.  It's easier to take the moral high ground because you know you're playing a game and you're not going to fail, but your PC might realistically feel like things are so desperate that there's almost no hope of saving Ferelden.

On the other hand, in addition to pissing you off by trapping you when you would likely have agreed to help her freely, Branka appears to be completely crazy.  Can you trust her to hold up her end of the bargain?  And if you think as a Grey Warden that you should be concerned about future blights as the current one, you could justifiably worry about the long-term effect of bringing an insane paragon back to Orzammar, given what power paragons have in Dwarven society.

Pragmatic types would side with Branka. THOSE who have hearts and understand that needless sacrifice such as giving dwarven lives to create golems, ESPECIALLY those who were "murdered", for lack of better explanation, would unquestioningly side with Caridin. I know I did, and felt that Branka deserved her fate several times over for feeding her house to the darkspawn.

fyi Shale is female lol but yeah Caridin is the best choice imo, Branka is a crazy nutbag.

True, but if you preserve Anvil you'll get golems in final battle. Extremely useful against archdemon.

My characters have always sided with Caridin.

There's a good case for siding with Branka. The Dwarven Empire is in ruins. There is a pressing, desperate need to push back the Darkspawn. Many Dwarves would gladly give their lives if it meant reclaiming the Deep Roads from the Darkspawn, the Legion of the Dead for starters.

I can totally see a Dwarven patriot or "At Any Cost" Warden choosing to help Branka.

On the other hand, there is no way that the Anvil would not be abused, Dwarven politics being what they are. The Casteless, fallen political enemies and all their kin would be enslaved forever, and more generation after generation. It's not a technology any government could be trusted with. I've played Evil characters who might keep the Anvil for themselves (were it an option), but unless I were playing a Dwarf Noble who expected to become King, no character of mine could let the Anvil survive.

I just did that for the first time and found it the most satisfying way to go.  You have to kill Caridin but he doesn't want to live anyway.  And you get the opportunity to make Branka realize how monstrous she's become, so she destroys the Anvil herself.  Back in camp, though, Shale was very unhappy about me killing Caridin but she didn't leave.
