I'm entirely too attached to the Human Noble origin.

I've tried playing most of the others (except for the Dwarf ones, just haven't had the time), but none of them have reached me like the Human Noble origin has.

I love replaying games, making different choices and see how it all unfolds.  But Dragon Age is different.  I've found myself, rather than starting a whole new game, going back to previous saves and making different choices there.

And I think I know why.

In the Mage origin, Adora Cousland doesn't exist.  She didn't grow up into Highever, and no one survived the attack on the Castle.  The Couslands never had a daughter in this world.  And that is disturbing to me, because so much of my roleplaying had to do with her origin and how it shaped my character.

In the game I'm playing now, Adora Cousland doesn't exist, but Iza Amell does.  It's like I've traded one person's life for another's, because the world and everyone in it is still mostly the same, but the heart of the story has changed.  Alistair won't fall in love now, because Iza Amell is a lesbian with her eyes set on Leliana.  The world is completely different, but still very much the same.

For example, in KOTOR you were Revan.  You could be girl!Revan, boy!Revan, evil!Revan, good!Revan, Carth-loving!Revan, Bastila-loving!Revan, Juhani-loving!Revan, nice!Revan, ect.  But at the end of the day, you were still Revan, the former dark lord of the Sith, and the universe depended upon that information.

In Dragon Age, you can be a good!Cousland, an evil!Cousland, girl!Cousland, or boy!Cousland, but you can also an Amell, a Tabris, a Dalish...

I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I like the idea of
many different origins, I've found myself caring too much about my
first origin, and I can't imagine the universe without her.  Has anyone else had this problem, or am I the only crazy one out there?  (It is possible, you know...)

Wow, I can totally relate to you there.

Now, I'm nowhere near having finished the game but I also started as a human noble and. It's hard for me to imagine playing anything else now, though, especially after reading your post.

It would just be an entirely different world... and then it wouldn't be, you understand? It's weird.

Whatever, if we get ourselves over our attachment to our origins we will have a lot of nice replays, Jakia! ;)

I thought that that person did exist, I mean if you play a different class then bhelen still killed his oldest sibling and betrayed the other one. I just think that if you don't take that class then that person doesn't become a grey warden. The Couslands probably still had the human noble origin character, they just died in the attack, although I can't be certain, I'm just basing it off how the characters surrounding the dwarf noble quest line are still in the game and the one is still exiled in denerim.

I know, I know I'm mad at myself for saying this, but since I have like 4 characters (Human-Male, Human-Female, Dalish Elf-Male, City Elf-Male) I might not even play as my Dwarf Commoner character Locus :o
He's default. :)

I love the Origins too!!! I have a City Elf Female Rogue, Magi Elf Female, Human Noble Male Warrior, Dwarven Noble Female Warrior. My Human Noble has had a fling with Morrigan and now I started the women to see which is the most fun to fling with Lelania ;-)

It seems for certain that the characters in the origins do exist, if only a mention. Running through the Proving Grounds as a dwarf noble will give you a quip about the casteless who came and kicked everyone's butts- that's the dwarf commoner. The alienage is closed off because of an uprising of the elves who killed the Arl's only son- that's the city elf. A brother still betrays his siblings and Howe still betrays the Couslands in all worlds, the Dalish are still affected, and a blood mage manages to escape from the Circle with a little help from his... friends?

They just... died, or disappeared from view. But they existed, which was enough for me.
