is squad durability random, or just situational?

i took thane with me on miranda's loyalty, and with his class power/incisor he ripped up the opposition. he didn't die once.

i took him and miranda on samara's loyalty mission, and the first alley after the crimescene, where you meet the first eclipse mercs, both died in half a second.

i'm just a little bothered by the inconsistency XD

Situational. Mass Effect 2 has a lot of difficulty variation in fights for any number of reasons...the battle on the Collector Ship on Insanity comes to mind as an example.



Although various upgrades can make your Shepard comparatively stronger than your teammates, or potentially vice-versa (Krogan vitality).

It's got a lot to do with the terrain.

If the AI can't find cover quickly, or somehow gets flanked, they just drop dead.

yeah. i'm thinking it has to do with simple time out of cover. thanks. i was hoping it was just that, not inherent weakness/squishyness

If a squadmate get's shot out of cover, they get stunlocked until they die, pretty much.

You mean the recruting mission.

The poison there not only affect shepardt.
It damages the whole squad.
Even grunt died fast there.

Actually only some attacks like rockets or warp stun and even then you cannot be stunlocked by a single non rocket spamming enemy. What happens is the AI will stop in their tracks to return fire completely forgetting about the need for cover. This of course results in them getting stunned again by another warp or rocket leading to a quick death.

I swear if Bioware is serious about making a great shooter/rpg game then they need to do something to make friendly AI less blatantly idiotic.

i get semi stunlocked from normal gunfire plenty times. Shepperd tends to spazz out when his chest is filled with bullets. But for me its often the AWEFUL timing my squad picks for going out of cover.. they like to play catch with rockets, thats for sure

That stuff isn't poison, it's awesome.
Just keep casting warp, and watch your foes go boom.

I love the guy, but I can't bring him anywhere.  I give him the Sniper rifle and he still thinks he's Grunt with charging ahead of me in battle.

yeah, recruiting mission, sorry about that. and i'm pretty sure i left both squadmates in a cloud of the stuff with no harm to them. :P
