Incendiary ammo upgrade to inferno ammo, absolutly fantastic as it panics enemys and does a lot of damage

bonuspower included?? then it's warp or armor piercing ammo... if not, then heavy disruptor ammo against machines and inferno ammo against the rest... creatures, humanoids and other.

haven't tested the shredder ammo... so I can't tell about that one

In my experience, there is no best ammo.

I change it to suit the mission requirements.
This is my ammo skill spread:
Inferno Ammo (4th level, evolved)
Cryo Ammo (3rd level).
Disruptor Ammo (3rd level).
I would have preferred to evolve those last two as well, but didn't have any skill points with which to do it.Posted Image

Inferno ammo is good for organic enemies, due to the "panic I'm on fire factor". Also, if they bunch together, the splash from shooting one enemy will hit the others in close proximity.

I rarely used Cryo ammo, but found it was good against Husks, especially when combined with a shotgun.

Disruptor ammo I used against mechs, machines and Geth.

Cryo. Squad cryo would be even better. Nothing is more satisfying than a frozen target shattering on your charge.

Well, a couple things are more satisfying, but it's up there.

I'd say incendiary. Once you have them in a panic, an adrenaline rush will make a quick finish. I'd put some points into disruptor as well. I couldn't find much use for cryo as a soldier.

For bonus powers, I like warp ammo for its damage against barriers. I find my squadmates can make faster work of taking down armor than the armor-piercing ammo. Shredder ammo is by far the most useless power I have seen, not just out of the ammo powers, but of all the powers. Once I've taken down an enemy's defenses, the rest is... well, easy.

Depends on your playstyle. Can you stand changing ammo frequently? Then Disruptor vs. Shields/Synthetics, Armor Piercing/Incendiary against Armor/Health. Shredder is better against Health but it seems that it doesn't really last that long anyways.

I personally can't stand changing ammo, the longer in that casting screen, the worse gameplay is for me. Hotkeys and start-of-mission ammo enabling is how I roll.

However, I wouldn't waste the soldier's bonus power on yet another ammo type, so I just used the Revenant with Incendiary. It can still rip through shields well enough. It's hardly uncommon, or particularly original, but the results speak for themselves.

Used Incendiary with the Vanguard as well, for much of the same reasons.

Inferno for organics, disruptor for sythetics, cryo for husks is the best on any difficulty.

This. Although I stopped using cryo on husks on Insanity because they have armor, so I used inferno/incendiary on them too.

Shredder is crap. If you want to invest in a bonus ammo power then switch between AP and Warp when you fight a lot of people with barrier. If you don't want to switch around because you hate wasting element zero, then just stick with warp ammo.

They are very lightly armoured but have high health. The armor isn't a problem taking off with an assault rifle or even the tempest on an infiltrator. However, once the husk freezes, it's high health is worth squat.

I don't really think a Revenant Soldier needs a bonus ammo power. Squad Cryo is great and looks cooler than Warp Ammo or AP Ammo.

My above comment was directed at the person asking about the infiltrator. You're right about the Soldier.  It  has enough ammo to get the job done without another bonus ammo power.

You know, I kept meaning to try that, but I somehow never got around to it. I'll keep it in mind if I do another HC/Insanity playthrough with a different class, though.

Oh, I was just chiming in. My post wasn't really directed at anyone in particular. Back on topic, I think a Soldier that plans on taking the Widow should go with AP Ammo and ignore Squad Cryo.
