squad cryo for your team, inferno for yourself.

Inferno by far.

Inferno is the best ammo-type in the game, so go with that.

lvl three incendiary... when Jack gets squad warp ammo... then use that instead.

Each ammo type serves a purpose... Disruptor ammo is great vs geth and mechs. Warp ammo is okay, but incendiary ammo makes unprotected enemies do that fire dance, which leaves them completely vulnerable. Cryo ammo is good too, freezes enemies, which also leaves them completely vulnerable. AP ammo is also good vs those heavy mechs' armor, shredder ammo is good with the SMG, vs unprotected organic targets.

But overall, I think incendiary ammo is the best.

I just use squad warp ammo, always. Extra dmg in all situations. Jack of all trades ammo.

For vanguard, you won't see much difference between Inferno, Armor Piercing and Warp Ammo because your base damage output is already that high. If you need 3 shotgun rounds to kill an enemy, the above 3 ammo won't change that to 1 shotgun round. This makes Inferno ammo stands out it doesn't take up the bonus power slot and has a panic effect on enemies.

Love squad cyro. Good CC.

Also Squad Cyro ammo + 3 x SMG/Assault Rifles = Husks cleaner. Husks instantly die when they get frozen. Very good alternative to spending points in pull/shockwave for instant killing husks.

Inferno for yourself and Squad Cryo for the squad seems to be the most effective, at least for me. The numbers were crunched (with video evidence) in the sticky, and the minor damage improvement of AP ammo is not worth it compared to the CC of Inferno. Also worth note is that the DOT from Inferno is instantly applied versus armor, shield or barrier.

If you're fighting Geth, Squad Disruptor is absolutely awesome. Almost makes it too easy :)

Yup this setup is amazing, I didn't bother with ammo powers much on my first time through on my VG, but I tried it the second time. Take Zaeed with squad disrupter against mechs and geth if you want an easier time with them.

I'm an inferno fan, or squad cryo.

I'd go cryo with the eviscerator. One shot and the enemy will freeze as long as it is a regular dude. Always fun when you've frozen two guys and your squad has frozen another or more.

Inferno is best, along with squad disruptor for synthetics. Squad warp ammo > squad cryo ammo on higher difficulties. The best CC is death!

Truer words were never spoken.

If I were to play a Vanguard, I'd probably go with Armor Piercing ammo unless I was going up against Vorcha or Krogan. Armor Piercing is useful against just about everything, and I don't care about CC, as I just want them dead. That's me, though. Inferno is still a very solid choice, and it has the added CC for those who prefer it.

I really dont get the Armor piercing fans. Using the bonus slot for such a negligable difference?

I prefer Reave and I only have incendiary ammo at level 3. If you want ammo powers than have your squadmates with ammo powers max those. Shepard is too important to waste powers on ammo powers.

I always use Inferno ammo, and didn't like Cryo. Cryo just didn't seem to do as well as Inferno. Inferno explodes on contact, hitting grouped enemies, and Cryo just took too long.

I don't waste ammo powers on Vanguards extra slots, mostly lately I am using Geth Shield boost, to get +75 shield(not including upgrades) and 10% bonus damage. To me shielding up, then charging and getting a charge shield gives you that few second to kill your enemies and hide again.

I usually put a few points into shockwave and pull, but not many. For the most part my experience is Vanguard can kill most things better by charging and shooting them in the face.

I am currently playing an insanity+ run with a very badly built vanguard with fery few upgrades. About to recruit Mordin to trigger horizon (everything else possible is done, excluding the firewalker horror), and I found cryo very useful. I used to go with inferno ammo, but freezing lasts much longer and the recuperating also takes some time which gives a bit more time to get the next attack ready.

The vanguard's two default ammo powers are more than enough for me, I rather use the loyalty power slot for neural shock, or in the case of the above build reave (which I don't like so much for the vanguard cause the cooldown is too long).
