So Jacob doesn't like Thane, then he doesn't like Zaeed? Probably doesn't like Kasumi too much either. What's with the hate Jacob? He likes working for Cerberus though, despite the heavy checkered past. Can't figure that guy out...
Should have been Virmired.<_<
It is quite heavy... I do believe he's right about that... But somehow I don't know why he doesn't say the same to Zaeed...
Because Jacob lacks the balls to say something like that to Zaeed's face? Thane is skilled I'll give him that but frog boy in a long coat isn't exactly what I'd call intimidating.
There is no reason for Jacob to fear Zaeed any more than Thane.
Thane looks harmless. And that made him an easy target to Jacob's snide insinuation. Same goes for Tali and Legion.
I'd fear Thane more. He's a biotic assassin. Zaeed without his guns is very vulnerable to a biotic. Pull field then boom with inferno ammo and Zaeed barbecue.

Well if Jacob is going to have his guns in a fight then so would Zaeed. And Zaeed would headshot Jacob with his sniper rilfe while he is floating upside down in the air thanks to Jacob's pull while Jacob's shotgun would do nothing.CC-Tron wrote...

That's the problem though, Zaeed does have his guns. That's a lot like saying lions aren't threatening if you look past their claws and teeth.

And even if he will only stay for pay then TIM can continue to fund him so its still not a reason to want him gone.

Saying one should go start a new playthrough isn't a convincing argument. One doesn't argue that Hamlet is so-and-so by telling his critics to go read the play. I've played the game with Zaeed as companion and heard the same things you did, but we draw different conclusions, so telling me to play the game again is not persuasive. You have to show why the things he said means he's altruistic,
As for Cerberus funds, it's a safe assumption that if your Shepard blows up the Collector base, they won't be forthcoming.

While we are not privy to the details of the contract between TIM and Zaeed, contracts generally have very specific terms. I doubt Zaeed's would be something as vague as "save the galaxy".
As for the other squadmates, some of them join to help defeat the Collectors, not save the galaxy. Recall what Thane and Shepard said, for example, said during his recruitment. Shepard told him he's up against the Collectors. Likewise for Samara.

Considering that Zaeed is a professional who takes pride in his work, has realized the Reapers are a greater threat than anything else, has made it personal by witnessing the attacks on Horizon and the events on the disabled Collector ship, and the fact that Shepard is still going to need assistance defeating the Reapers, I just don't see Zaeed saying, "Oh well, base is blown, I'm out of here."
Same with Thane, Samara, and anyone else. It's just my opinion but I don't think they'd see their jobs as being complete.

I seriously doubt the contract would have a clause like "save the galaxy." I do think it would state that the job is to assist Shepard on his mission.

You haven't shown why Zaeed would think like you said he would. It's fine to say that those are one's opinions, but discussions would devolve into mere assertions if everyone just says so-and-so and does not support it.
I'm sure morale would be high right after the successful assault on the Collector base, but when days turn into weeks which in turn become months, I won't be surprised if squadmembers turn their minds to more personal matters, like Thane and his son, Miranda and her sister now that Cerberus protection is gone (base destroyed), Kasumi and her next thrill, Zaeed and his next contract etc.

One thing to work for an organization with a checkered past. Quite another to offer your services to the highest bidder, Mercenaries are notoriously unreliable. Even in game missions, various mercs have screwed over their clients and you come down to clean up the mess in a few N7 missions.
Now you're doing a suicide mission? Do you want team members you can't fully trust? Jacob has a valid point given the limited information he has on these people. What he has is not hate, he's being reasonable.

No one is really going to know that information until ME3 and BioWare decides what to do with each character.
Until then, all we have to go on are statements and actions from the squadmembers themselves. From my multiple games' experiences with Zaeed and his statements about stopping the Collectors and not allowing the Reapers to do the same thing to humans that they did to the Protheans, I have no reason to think he's going to abandon the cause. Not after his reactions to Horizon, the Collector vessel, the derelict Reaper and the Collector base.
His actions and words indicate that this mission has transcended a regular job and has become personal. Considering he spent 20 years tracking down Vido to settle the score, I don't see him leaving the fight against the Reapers unended.
If other people feel otherwise and think he'll split, that's fine with me. Everyone reads people differently. I don't read the character that way and have come across nothing in ME2 that makes me think otherwise.

on my (paragorn) loyalty mission of zaeed i used the paragorn pursuade to let him know, there is more then just a paycheck and we as a team can accomplishe more.
he is then loyal and too me see's the big picture.
his remarks on the missions strengthen that.
that beeing said, i dont think we will see him (maybe hear from him) in ME3 wich is a shame cause id love to see him back

He expressed specifically his desire to end the collector threat on several occasions. That's more sense of justice than many other squad mates on your team. Not to mention to wish for anyone to stay on your team without pay would be unrealistic. Do you seriously think Kasumi, Miranda or Tali are there without any motivator? Would you perform your job for free if it's noble? Or would you be rather at home on a Saturnight getting stoned drinking beer?ThePasserby wrote...

Btw, Zaeed is already developed when he came into the picture, he doesn't require character development per se. For someone who has seen and done so much, he will not change just cuz your egoistic desire wants him to. He doesn't need us to save or educate him like the rest of your squad does. We just find out bits and pieces of his personality as the story progress. And frankly, his loyalty has nothing to do with it anyway.
