Ok so has anyone recieved Duncans sleight of hand lecture at ostagar? Dude funniest thing ever. I was pocketing from a few people and all of a sudden I see a knight talking to duncan. He states one of the "Wardens" have been pick pocketing the knights and guards in ostagar. Duncan states that he stands by his wardens no matter what and that he trusts them. XD Then when I talk to him he says he needs to talk to me and gives me a speech about how my skills with sleight of hand are good but that I should keep in mind the law is strong and that the wardens arent yet trusted enough to be doing things like I did. Dude I never felt like more of a child in this game than when duncan lectured me about stealing being wrong. XD

Wow, that's actually really interesting. I wonder how many pieces of dialogue I have missed in the game, especially when I think about little gems like this.

I remember over hearing that conversation as well.  :pinched: I ended up loading an earlier save; I couldn't disappoint Duncan's beard :(

I didn't know something like that could happen. I guess I need to stop playing warriors.

Duncan: I'm not angry. I'm just disappointed. You can't just run around and steal from people. That is wrong.
Warden: Oh yeah? Well. . . so is your beard.
Duncan: That's very mature.
Warden: Oh yeah? Well. . . so is your beard!
Duncan: That's it young lady. You are grounded.
Warden: (runs off crying) You are not my real father! I hate this place!

I have got to try this, hehe. Coin, meet my city elf.

Edit: That was awesome!

Warden: But I have to practice to get better.
Duncan: Of course, just don't get caught.

LMAO! I thought the same thing. I usually roleplay my characters to be Duncans illegitemate offspring. (Often giving them brown hair and gold eyes.)

I felt like a kid getting scolded. "But dad, it was weally weally shinny..."

I was so happy to see that reaction, I liked the lecture and just the acknowledgment that comes with playing a kleptomaniac, rather than some random "rawr bad person now we stab you" encounter. Getting caught stealing in Ostagar had me appreciating the developers' foresight.

tell me about it, same thing happens in denerim if you pick pocket people. The guards go after you and try and kill you.

How do you trigger this? Do you need to be a rogue?

Ha, Duncan doesn't think it's wrong. He just tells you not to get caught LMAO!

I was so embarrassed when I saw that the game responded to my thieving ways. But I kept true to my promise to Duncan to PRACTICE MOAR. I cannot disappoint Duncan's expectations! I steal from almost every single person I meet and I've raised my Steal skill to max!

OMG I just started a dwarf commoner and she hasn't gone to the korcari wilds yet. Does this have to happen before they go into the wilds? Should I jump back a half hour until before Duncan assigns them to go into the wilds? I want to see this. :) (Plus, the cash would be nice).

Oh, and to echo Challseus. I think it's awesome that I keep finding out about things in the game that I haven't seen before, despite numerous playthroughs. :) SO FUN!

It is, isn't it.  Another example - it took me several playthroughs to learn more about the Slim Couldry stealing quests in Denerim.  Rather than immediately using your stealing skill, you can set the marks up by chatting with them.  The conversations and outcomes are a laugh - such as leaving the b*tchy noble in the magic shop standing around in just her undies.

Hehe, yeah, that reminds me. I haven't chatted up Ser Nancine yet. Although I did get Master Tilver. "Hey, old buddy, old pal! You're an artistic GENIUS!" And you just know that guy makes ugly pottery or something. :D

Having begun reading The Calling, that's really awesome and very much in line with Duncan's character. XD
