So I'm at Redcliffe in my current playthrough, and everytime I'm at this part of the game I just want to punt dwarves and slam my head against a car door. Her voice drives me crazy, "Teaaaaagaaaaan! You must help me save Connor!" She is the one who started this whole mess at Redcliffe and she tries to cover it up and pretend like she didn't know any better.

Usually I go the mages route and save both Isolde and Connor but this time I had to go a different path. I went upstairs and gave her an elbow to the face (and boy that was satisfying! Posted Image)

So does anyone else hate her too? I really can't stand her anymore, I used to be able to grin and bear through her dialogue but now I just skip it.

EDIT: Maybe hate is too strong of a word for it, more like I really really dislike her and she irritates me.

What about you fans of Isolde? Why do you like her?

I think she ranks just below Howe and Loghain in the general hate-o-meter.

Edit: Mainly because Teagan likes her better than you.

Oh yes. She started the whole mess and then actually makes demands of you. And when Alistair, whom she has been downright nasty to and sent away from his home, wants to save her noble arse she just goes "oh it's you, what are you doing here... Teeeeaaagan!"

I usually save her, while fervently hoping a magical dialogue option will show up that says: "Fetchez la vache!" and you can catapult a cow onto her...

I used to save both her and Connor, but ever since I discovered there is no disapproval from Alistair for letting her sacrifice herself, she ALWAYS dies.

I don't hate her. I can even see how a mother might loose all sense when it concerns her own baby, but all things considered.... she is just sooo annoying really.

I have the exact opposite response and love it. Though I completely disregard her whining and have no problems with saying she equally at fault as Jowan... maybe more so because Jowan didn't exactly have a good alternative to working for Loghain... Isolde? she submitted to her prejudice and fear of mages.

Oh I understand that she is a mother and wants to help her son, I'm not faulting her for that, but that doesn't excuse her for her actions. While trying to help her son, she almost doomed her village and villagers, and yet the entire time continues to act as if she did nothing wrong. She doesn't seem to care what happens to her people, she is tunnel visioned on only Connor which has blinded her to a point. That's what infuriates me.

Furthermore, after you kill the demon the only thing she can say to you is: "You have my deepest thanks" in such a non-sincere way. She should really be kissing the PC's feet at this point for bailing her out of her own stupidity.

Her actions led to the deaths of a great number of peasant/commoner families. Forgive me if I don't sympathize at all with Isolde.

LOL with Isolde in first play-through she ignored the fact I was at that time the lawful Teryn of Highever and was so whiny I disliked her so much I used Jowans ritual (much to Morrigans disapproval since she had to go into the fade), then second play-through I thought hey killing her son would be much better revenge, in #3 I'd learned you could get her to do it (even better revenge). Killed her again for Blood Magic in #4, and it's only on #5 that I finally used the circle (and I suspect it's the only time I will too).

I gotta admit, once you get past the annoying but somehow hot accent, and her stupidity, and her attitude, and her demands, and her ****iness, I think she looks pretty hot :D
That said, there is a lot of bricks in that wall to get through, Eamon, how do you do it?
Seriously, it blocked half of a non-offensive word...

lol, she should have submitted to my Warden Commander in bed after saving her and Connor, THEN saving her husband....

I can't stand her, she's such an indignant cow! I hate how she is so disgusted to see Alistair when he's there to help her. I always let Jowen out of his cell just so I can insult her in front of Teagan and have him back me.

Ooo is dis man, Tee-gaan? Ugh. *frown*

She loves her son, yes, and the cutscene where she is begging for his life (if you opt to kill him) is pretty heart-rending. I almost feel sorry for her there. But the whole thing is her fault. Had she not tried to hide Connor's magic from everyone, Jowan would not have been able to insinuate himself there, poison Eamon and then teach Connor enough magic that he was able to make a deal with a daemon and become and abomination.

I've gone for the sunshine and rainbows ending a few times but usually I let Jowan sacrifice her. That way she can redeem herself for her stupidity.

I don't hate Isolde.  She does stupid and selfish things, but for a good reason- an unreasonable love for her only child.  Can't hate a person like that.

That is part of it but I suspect most of her trying to cover up what Connor is is because she is devoted to him and doesn't want him to be taken away and she can't see him again, which is general Circle/Chantry policy. She wasn't just ignoring the problem, either; she tried to get Connor to learn enough that he'd be safe. The demon wasn't the result of Connor illicitly learning some magic but is one of the reasonmage children are so dangrous and locked away in the first place. Had Jowan NOT decided to poiosn Eamon thus prompting Connor to make a deal with a demon before he was old enough and knowledgeable enough to know better, her plan might have actually worked out.

That's a pretty good analysis imo.  Her secrecy did enable Jowan to carry out his plans, but had he not been manipulated by Lohgain/Howe into poisoning Eamon, Conor may never have become and abomination to begin with.  She gets way too much hate imo.

Yeah. I hate the Arlessa.

I hate the demon who possessed Connor more though. How DARE that inferior waste of life get between me and my goal?

Even my "evil" characters go the "good" route here just so they can kill the demon themselves.

As a mage, my PC would sympathise.. up until the point where she made it sound like magic was a disease that needed to be hidden.

I appreciate that she loved her son, but she endangered an entire village and beyond (had the Warden and their merry band of lunatics not shown up, Redcliffe Village would be ovverun and the undead left to wander further out to Ferelden) because she couldn't buck up. I saved her and Connor out of a basic sense of duty and to spare Alistair some grief, but just barely.
