I got an email from Jesse that said they got some digital download versions of ME from the EA Store so most likely people that wanted the PC version of ME will get an activation code in with the rest of the stuff.
Only digital downloads for Mass Effect PC? How annoying.
It would be nice if people stopped supporting digital downloads. However unlikely that is, as companies will continue to push them for their higher profit margins and the fact that they can't be traded into GameStop or sold on eBay when you are finished with them. Can't forget to mention the customers who are more then willing to give up the advantages of a physical item for the convince of being able to queue up a download instead of heading out to the store or waiting for a package to be delivered.
This is going off track a little bit, but I for one love digital downloads. <3 You speak of advantages of physical media but I seem to be missing them... if you lose the physical media/CDkey its gone. with digital it's not going anywhere. with the physical copy I need to worry about making sure the disk is in the drive before I play the game, digital bypasses this need. The ONLY advantage I can see in a physical copy is you can resell it? I guess thats kinda nice but I would just recommend not buying games that aren't worth owning(obviously not a perfect system.) The resell market is pretty shifty for PC games because of the weird DRM that comes on some software, its possible you'll buy it but you'll never be able to activate it properly , etc. This is why Gamestop wants nothing to do with reselling PC games. Well, there are other reasons as well, but this certainly would be one of them.
While arguments against digital distribution could certainly be made, I think it's a little silly to say that the physical media is better. Yes I understand the companies can stand to make more money by going with, but big deal? Ideally the prices would/will go down once DD takes off because now they won't need to make sure gamestop/shipping companies/publishers all get their cut. I'd rather pay my 40 bucks to the DD company/Developer directly, at least they'll see more of it (in theory, and them getting more money means more money to spend on game development)
Sorry for getting off track, I could go on, but I just felt like adding my two cents. I think if we wanted to continue to discuss this though we would want to be considerate and start a new thread for it, this thread certainly isn't the thread to do it, heh.

Forgive me for any terrible grammar or spelling I missed.
