Having played through both ME1 and ME2 twice now as paragon (Mshep and Fshep) I want to try renegade. I attempted it once and instantly became the biggest couche in the universe. I heard about being a "paragade" and I am hoping someone can give me a rundown of how this works.

I prefer the term "Renegon" myself.

I would go with, "Paragade" as making major Paragon decisions and being nice to squadmates and such but being a ruthless d*ck to enemies.

Actually, the Paragon system is so glitched in Me2. as a 80/20 paragon/renegade, I had twice as many opportunities to use the intimidate option even though I hardly ever use the renegade interrupts.

In one game I used 3 renegade interrupts and that was all it took to renegade myself out of Jack and Miranda's scene (my renegade bar was at about 25%)

The system is weird.

Being a paragade in mass effect 2 is a little harder since it counts how often your on one or the other side.

But I've managed :P just play your cards right(yeah actually, you litterally have to, as in, don't do so much things at once so the game doesn't check up on more things, useful if you want to unlock certain dialogue options)

Got a triple facepalm? I hope not, because that's really obnoxious.

a lot of the time renegade options will pop up first in ME2 and after you wait through them a paragon option will appear

Different things have different alignment requirements. For instance, it takes more paragon for the jack/miranda conflict because they are both "renegades". You hardly need any renegade. On the otherhand, it takes less paragon and more rengade for Tali/Legion because they are both "paragons". My first playthrough was as a renegon so I couldn't settle the Tali/Legion conflict. So I sided with Tali (also LI), but after she left I did have enough renegade to make up with Legion and regain his loyalty. I assume paragons can do the same with Miranda after Jack leaves if you side with Jack (i.e the emotional one).

Paragade is basically being nice to everyone who deserves it, and completely ruthless to those who don't. For example, you're nice to your crewmates, and to the oppressed. You maybe give people one chance to surrender or reform, and if they don't take it you exterminate them with extreme prejudice. You threaten criminals, shoot them in the kneecaps, punch them, etc, but you don't act like a douche towards innocents or decent people.

Paragade is more like 100% Paragon, 50% Renegade in my experience.

I dislike how we penalized at times in ME2 for not going solely renegade or solely paragon. Not only that, but sometimes we are penalized for having too much paragon or renegade. Both of these are stupid ideas.

Basically, playing "Paragade" means playing like a real human being and not a cookie-cutter character defined by his moral alignment.

That would add up to 150%...

Do I need to break out the triple facepalm?!

It's possible to have too much?
I thought the only thing the paragon/renegade score did in ME2 was to give the charm/intimidate options on the chat wheel..

I'm not aware of situations where the players are penalized for having too much paragon/renegade points. Perhaps you can enlighten me?

I don't know the extent of it, but there's some whacky percentage based calculation going on with the paragon and renegade chat options during things like the maranda/jack fight. If you have too much paragon but you're just slightly under you can't do the paragon option, but if all you have is 25% of one bar filled and nothing else, it's available... Something to that effect.
