There is a difference in making thread or post just to ****** of people by mocking the "creepyness" of Tali fans or otherwise being disgusted of the character for ultimately superficial and dumb reasons like her being so/too popular, versus just having good natured fun with the character and his lines (if you are referring to the PRIIIZE thread). Former are done to cause negative reaction and noise, latter is tongue in the cheek good natured fun. Insulting vs. fun jabbing.
Face it, unlike Tali Jacob is a teasure drove for cheesy jokes and memes. No one mocks the character himself, just his cheesy lines because they are so much fun when you listen and overanalyze them. And no one really attacks his fans either. Its all in the tongue in the cheek.
Though I admit, lines between mocking and fun can get blurry when something is overdone. In case of Tali, she has been constantly under Troll attack, so even good natured jab posts can easily get labeled as trolling. So yes you can say Trolls won as they managed to create a tension.
