5 new potential squad member wish list?  Certainly worth giving a shot to ponder.

1. Batarian.  Could be any number of backgrounds.  Former raider/slaver/merc, or something totally different, such as the one Garrus had in his Omega squad.  We've seen the race have more of a presence in the game (from BDtS in ME1 to more regular appearances in ME2), so it's about time we got one to work with.

2.  Joker.  Again, more presence and action as the timeline goes on (crippled like heck in ME, able to walk and even fire a gun in ME2), so it is possible.  Squadmember?  Possible.  LI for female-Shepard?  Also possible.

3.  Captain Anderson.  Could provide an intersting representative for the Alliance, as Ashley and Kaidan did in ME1 and Jacob was also former Alliance military/Corsair.  Also is one of the few people, as of ME2, that works with or within the Council and actually believes Shepard about the Reaper threat.

4. Urdnot Wreav.  Could fulfill the role of token Krogan on Shep's team, as well as a different perspective on the Krogan future, as was demonstrated if Wrex dies on Virmire.  Maybe with a chance to convince him of Wrex's POV?

5. Kolyat.  With Thane's impending death coming, Kolyat could serve as a contrast or mirror to his father, almost like Wrex and Grunt have similar qualities, yet distinctly different personalities.  Of course, the family relation could also prove interesting, especially since you have a choice as to how Thane's loyalty mission ends.

Do I see any of these happening?  I hope so, but likely I'll enjoy any squadmate I get, old or new.  Most of them are just plain cool in their own way! :D

Why the **** do people wanna see ME 1 characters in ME 3 so bad? They were boring as ****. The ME 2 characters were FAR more interesting. There is definately more of a chance having the ME 2 characters in ME 3 than anything else. Not all of them, but the ones who got rid of their prior life to join the crew (Miranda, Jacob, Tali, Garrus).

Gonna bump this.

I kind of agree, as much as I hate it. There's just no way they bring back all 12. I think a _few_ might make it back into ME3, but the rest will be regulated to cameos.

I do think Tali will return, simply due to crazy popular demand and story relevance - but possibly as D1 DLC Zaeed style, as Zulu mentioned. Hell, such DLC would make buckets of money for EA.

...

I think the suicide mission, while fun, kind of hurts the 3rd game's lead-in. It'll be a lot of work to avoid disappointing a lot of people.

I do agree with you, the fact that they can die means the will not be squad members in ME3, but I am hoping for super cameos for them...maybe like, hey, when we attack here, you cats attack here, or something.

Hanar: Full biotic, no weapons. Recharge time amazingly fast to make up for it.

Volus: Tech/Biotic combo. Pistol and possibly shotgun use.

Elcor: No powers. Shoulder mounted weaponry, possibly heavy weapons as well.

Batarian. Tech. Similar to Garrus, except no sniper training.

Raloi. New species, anything they wanna do Im chill with

I demand a Hanar, or I will never buy an addicting Bioware RPG ever again.
And even if we dont get a Raloi, I would still like to see one

I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that at least the original 10 ME2 squad will return as squaddies. In ME2 we had 12 squaddies with the DLC. Without the DLC, we have 10, and as you mentioned, every gaming file has at LEAST two other squaddies from previous games still alive (Liara & Ash/Kai).

The two ME1 squaddies will help every game fulfill minimum ground team requirements, while the remaining survivors of ME2 give extra squadmates and content that's not crucially integral to the story (perhaps keeping Tali alive will help push the Quarians towards helping you, but Shepard doesn't need the Quarians' assistance to defeat the Reapers. They'd help, but aren't integral).

In the end, you'd have 12 squadmates again for ME3. It just seems too coincidental that Bioware would work it out that way. Besides, I just don't buy that Bioware's stupid enough to make an entire game about the squad only to throw them away in the next game.

.........just for fun though:

1. ARIA/ALEENA
2. Anderson...with Geth implants to make him old-awesome
3. Batarian crewmember?
4. Mordin's Cousin
5. Daro'Xen (SPACE MORRIGAN!)

@Zulu_DFA,

If I have to spend over half the game recruiting new squad members again in ME3 then I won't be buying this crap. This would be another cop out. Take away all the recruitment missions in ME2 and you get left with a very short story indeed compared with the first game.

I expect Bioware to fill the final game up with epic story telling and lots of major battles along the way. If they do introduce a lot of new party members again then they should make them much quicker to recruit. The main story in ME3 has to be a lot longer than ME2 surely....

Feron is dead, and if he isn't dead and is in the SB dlc as some believe, he'll probably die there.

a Batarian may be possible, but unlikely do to their hate for humans and basically anything not batarian

Mordin's nephew? Why? Just because he's mentioned by Mordin and is a genius like him does not mean he going to be able to fight along Shepard. Just because he was mentioned by a squad member at all doesn't mean that period. By that logic the woman Garrus sparred with could be a member too.

Turian female spectre, or just a Turian female in general could be a possibility. If, as some people seem to theorize, the Citadel Council could view Shepard as a Rogue spectre, like Saren, (with Rachni, Krogan, and Geth allies, ontop of working with Cerberus and having Cybernetic implants) it's possible he'll be hunted by another spectre, maybe even convince to join him.

Kahoku's child.... we know absolutely nothing about them beyond the mention of there existance in a news broadcast, this doesn't warrant any possibility in them being a squad mate.

To answer the poll:

How about many squadmates and much interaction?

What I really missed in ME2 is the interaction between your squadmates. The only off-cutscene interaction they have with each other in ME2 is Tali and Garrus in the Citadel. And that one is ****ed up, why do Tali threaten Garrus with her shotgun? Do they like hate each other, and why the hell would they do that?!

they are talking about the awkward conversations they'd have on the elevators.  Garrus is sacrastically teasing Tali and Tali is annoyed by it.  No hate present.

I REALLY hope most of the squad mates from ME2 return in ME3. At least 4 should return (Grunt, Garrus, Tail, Legion).

And the new squadmates should be:
Kal'reeger: having Jayne Cobb from Firefly/Serenity (Adam Baldwin) in my squad is one of the best ideas I've ever heard. And make him a romance for female Shepard <3
A Batarian
An Elcor
A Hanar
Female Turian/Salarian

That stickied thread of yours has no poll. It also has no offer to share thoughts about who new ME3 squadmates might be. It also doubts Liara & Ashley/Kaidan's return as squadmates, whereas this thread does not. That thread also has tons of you failing at logic, when this thread has only one such example, namely, it's not the same as that thread.

So, it must be the poll (or maybe something else) you don't like about this thread so much as to not let it die of natural causes (which is unlikely, since, for some reason people seem to post here every once in a while, so the "necroposting" accuser has some issues with it too, I guess) but bawl for moderators to kill it.

It's called psychology, and it's kinda obvious.

You're "kind of" paranoid... Consistent necroposting is still necroposting. A thread being rendered useless is uselss regardless. The poll has nothing to do with it at all, ask a mod to link to it in the first post of the stickied thread, since it holds a similar bearing. I honestly say that I don't care if this thread dies but dead threads being revived every 5+ days is a waste of space on the front page. Were it up to me, all these necroposted threads would be locked, I'm not a mod though. Normally these threads get bumped because a thread of a similar topic exists.

Should, God forbid, the ME2 squad play minor roles (which, in some cases I can understand as I can't imagine there's more to tell about a few squadmates). Hardware-wise and storywise however, it shouldn't be a problem to bring all folks back IMO, it would make the entire experience of No One Left Behind shallow if everyone went overboard. Also, it's way more expensive to bring in new original squadmates. So in any case, I think that if ME2 squad gets replaced, they will be replaced by people we've already met.

My list of 5 people:
Bringing TIM in would be cool, especially if he dons himself in a battle suit like in Retribution.
Shiala
A Hanar
A Batarian
Kal'Reegar

Besides, Garrus is loyal anyway, doesn't matter if you kill Sidonis or let him live, hence, your logic is flawed. Tali being suicidal is guesswork also.
