I'm sure Tali and Garrus will get "cool cameos" too.

Ha, since I posted the topic the poll got about 15 votes for quality, 0 for quantity. C'mon, Talimancers, where are you all?

People will still buy it. I doubt there are many Liara/Wrex/Ashley/Kaidan fans who boycott ME2...I know of no one^_^

I'm a Kaiden/Wrex fan and the only reason I did not boycott ME2 is because I knew ME3 is on its way, and it's likely that they will be in ME3. So instead of boycotting a game that I know will be great, I'd rather focus my energy on anticipating ME3. If that doesn't happen in ME3 you can count on me starting a riot, amongst many others.

Zulu, can I ask you a question. All the other nay-sayers can also try to answer. Nevermind what you THINK can or cannot be done, what do you really WANT?

If you honestly would rather have all new cast for ME3 as personal preference, then you should outright say so instead of hiding behind excuses such as "waste of resources". The only thing stopping you is knowing for sure that the vast majority of fans will surely disagree with you.

If you want everyone to return for ME3, then instead of reminding us (and Bioware) of the difficulty, you should DO SOMETHING constructive and actually helps. Many people have trying to come up with solutions to the dilemma, (and I sure hope Bioware reads them) Why can't you join them?

Help Bioware make it happen. Don't undermine other people because in the end it will achieve nothing.

I don't know...

Wrex's cameo was described as "cool" (I agree)
Liara's and Ashley's/Kaidan's roles were described as "non-prominent"

I find it makes sense that not everybody is coming back as squadmates, but I'm sure the veterans would stick around. Perhaps some leave and you would re-recruit them because they decided they actually like sticking with Shepard.

I'm pretty sure Bioware could easily have all the characters available in ME3 though, especially if they were already planning on it. I mean, almost all the characters ALREADY have dialog/interaction files for missions they weren't even able to be on, considering their recruitment order.

Because making new squadmates isn't a waste of resource....if you killed them off. I don't actually expect them to be replaced, that is why Shepard dies when one or nobody manages to survive. Because my theory is that you need at least 3 team members in your group to carry over and that's who you start out with.

I think they already planned taking them over even before they started work on me2.

Regardless of if they use new squad mates or bring in the old, or a mix of both. I will play it, and more than likely love it. KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, in the addon's and sequels, the new characters are usually fleshed out well enough to make me happy, no matter how much I loved the previous characters. BioWare seems to nail it most times, as much as I missed my old ME crew, loved the new ones. Special shout out for Kasumi who deserves a lot more screen time.

If I was leaning in a direction, love to shrink the current list by nearly half and have more interaction.

Oh and new characters,

A Batarian because dammit they're people too.

Female Turian / Krogan because so far I don't think they exist.

Kal'Reegar, or other soldier style character. (If Ash comes back it won't matter to me so much.)

A Vorcha that you can train however you want them to be, Tech, Biotic, Soldier, Mixture.

Can't think of any more.

I would be Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB, if Bioware made Zaeed, Legion, Samara, Mordin, Jack (never mind I the two latter killed) recruitable, and all others ME2 squadmate got a deep black cold shaft. I'd also want bioware to make Gianna Parasini a full time LI.

But most of all I want BioWare to stop listening to the fans, and make a game that lives up to Mass Effect. With powered armor for all combat characters, moddable mass accelerator weapons, powers that feel like tech and not like magic, non-linear desolate outer space planets' exploration, and minimum plot holes. I want Mass Effect series to return to its own science fiction lore from a GoW- set-in-a-cheezy-fantasy-universe quagmire.

But this thread is not about who wants what, but about a poll set up by somebody with "EA-BioWare" nickname.

Oh heck yes, Wrex's cameo was awesome.

Okay, I'll admit to cheating by using the "cool cameo" description as a blanket to describe the other characters' cameos. But I thought the writers were keen on reassuring fans of Liara and Kaidan/Ashley that their cameos would be treated with respect?

"Non-prominent." ...If those words were used by a BioWare Dev to describe their cameos, wow. My mistake.

Still, can't deny that expectations for those cameos were pretty high for a lot of people, and a lot of those people (myself included to some degree) were...eh, disappointed with them? If squadmates from game 2 get the same treatment in 3, I know I'd hesitate to buy the game.

All the more reason to make it up for those ME1 charecters, at the expense of ME2 characters.

Stop coming up with more squadmates retards. Bioware should try and give us all the ME2 squadmates and Liara + Ashley/Kaidan for ME3. No one else. If you got some squadmates killed too bad I don't see what the problem is since you only take 2 with you on missions anyway.

Hehe. I lLOL'd but I think Zulu was trying to say that by listening to too many fans after the first game, they made a game that appealed to more people, but lost the spark it had in the first game.  I could be wrong, but that's how I read it.

Erm, yeah right, you really asked for a serious response with THOSE choices?

Anyway your earlier comment about ME1 fans getting what they deserved proved that you are just another one of the pathetic cry babies still sucking your thumb because you didn't understand what Casey stated BEFORE ME2 came out about the ME characters that were sidelined. As I pity your childish streak, I shall try to explain one keypoint.

There is NO ME4 therefore there is no need to 'save' anyone for it, thus the main reason 2 of the people were sidelined is irrelevant to the ME2 characters.

Now the Wrex cameo, that could easily happen to ME3 characters, I agree and for some it would make sense considering things they say in ME2. Seeing as Wrex did indicate that he might return to Tuchanka (if you recruited him and kept him alive post-virmire). But for others there is nothing written to indicate this. So Bioware doing so to such people just to appease the pathetic ME1fan crybabies like yourself would show a complete drop in intelligence on their part.

The premise of the OP's logic is of course very skewed, particularily when it comes to Ashley/Kaidan.

The basic argument is that it wastes resources (with the implied argument that this in turn will be enough for Bioware to do it) to write content for a companion we are not 100% sure will be alive in ME3. He then makes the argument that this does not apply to Kaidan and Ashley as they are supposed to be interchangeable.

Kaidan/Ashley are no doubt interchangeable in a very narrow sense of the word. They will no doubt be integral to the main plot and they will play the same role in the plot. That is the only way they are interchangeable though.

Kaidan and Ashley are two different personalities in ME1. Their romances do not play the same. They most certainly have different voice actors. I defy the OP to explain to me how we can see a deep and believable interaction with Kaidan and Ashley if the interaction with them are exact mirrors of each other.

Liara and Ashely or Kaidan will no doubt be integral to the plot of ME3. The other crew members will only play small optional roles in the plot. There is however no logical reason why 'integral to the plot' must equal 'more interaction'. There is no logical reason why for example romantic interests MUST be pivotal to the main plot. Leliana in Dragon Age is totally optional to the entire main plot (you can finish the game and never even see her) but is still a romantic interest.

So 'integral to the plot' must equal 'more interaction' is a false statement. And the whole argument from the OP revolves around that statement.

1. I asked to be serious enough not to post Blasto, Biotic God and Smoking Elcor.

2. A crybaby about squad armor. And Mako, at times. I can't crybaby about ME1 squadmates for the followin reasons: my favorite was Kaidan and he had to die on Virmire, and I recruited Wrex only on my 2 first playthoughs, that didn't make it into ME2. I picked up Liara after Virmire and turned down Ashley's attempts to get in her superior officer's bed, and after Horizon I want to see her in ME3 just long enough to give me a reason to shoot her in the head. Tali died on the "suicide mission". So the single OK guy from ME1 for me is the certain Spineless Bad Turian, who is a good shot, but under my vision can get to be only a DLC for ME3.
