Perhaps WoW players do have trouble thinking about anything else, but ****ing about it isn't going to fix that. Next is the Op going to start a thread complaining about how it hurts to stare at the sun?

Almost every wow player I have met, is severely overweight, smells like they haven't showered for a week and spends every possible moment they can of their "free time" playing wow.

In short:
Severe Obesity
Poor Hygiene
OCD

And yes I can say for certain that this OCD has ruined a lot of peoples lives, I know of in fact several peoples lives that could be better if not for excessive wow or any wow.  So yeah, I feel the same way, strongly in fact because of individuals that were close to me.

Agreed with both points.
As much as i hate some WoW players for the reason you say i also hate people who moan at Bioware fans about it...if you don't like them telling you about farming gems go away, don't listen or kill them simple as that, problem solved.

Hehehe I LIKE this solution :D

I've never understood paying a month fee to play a game that you already bought. I know that Blizzard supports it with patches/additions and such, but $15 a month to play a game, is something I wouldn't do. One of the reasons I won't be playing SWTOR.

Monthly subscription..the way I see it, is kind of like leasing your spot on a server or servers.    The servers still have be maintained, and those that maintain them, need to be paid.    Box sales don't cover the original investment of the developper, and it might take a couple years or so for the developper and or publisher to make their money back.

How they do that is by monthly subscription fees, and eventually down the road..expansions.

But you do not mind spending 50 > 100 euro in a weekend at the pub. Or wasting money on your 3rd pair of shoes you'll most likely wear once or twice. Yeah like you're really going to miss those 50 cents per day for a month.  :)

Playing a game excessively makes you fat. Unless you're one of those freaks with a great metabolism. Then you're just smelly.

WoW is actually a beautiful game...

...marred by its playerbase.

Also, I find it hard to believe people woudl talk about WoW openly IRL.

Most of the people I speak to in-game suggest that it is a guilty pleasure.

No, it does not.

Playing a game excessively is no different then watching TV excessively or reading a book excessively.

Overeating, however, will cause you to gain weight. Please don't go throwing misconceptions around.

My uncle has agoraphobia, and he stays inside and plays WoW and other games all day. He is quite thin, and not overweight in the slightest. Why? Because he doesn't overeat. He doesn't have a fast metabolism or anything like that. He just doesn't eat more then he should.

I played WoW a lot for a while, and I actually lost weight. Lost all the muscle I had too.

Excessive playing a video game/watching TV/reading/anything will make you unhealthy.

Playing WoW, me? Nah, I am not a MMO guy. In fact I hate MMOs in general. Mostly because I once tried a free MMO and the people there... good god, I would find less vulgarity in a "We love drugs" club... Maybe I was sticking in the wrong server, maybe it was the wrong game, but I felt a bit insulted if I would have stayed there. So from that moment forth, MMOs are no-go for me. If I have to play Warcraft, I play the strategy games, which at least I rate high in my lists.

Except that during the time you're doing things excessively, the food you've eaten is not being metabolized. It all goes into storage. Fat. Doesn't matter if it's a little or a lot of food, you'll get fat. Inactivity slows down your metabolism, making most people fat. Fat.

Haven't you ever taken a health/nutrition class?

LOL

You metabolize constantly.  Just keeping normal homeostasis and normal functions required to keep you alive takes the MOST energy out of anything you do (IE. see Basal Metabolic Rate).

So, let's say your BMR is 1700 kcal.  You eat 1500 kcal in the day.  You have net loss 200 kcal.  (ie, if you have fat stores, 200 kcal worth will be broken down to provide ze energiez)

Health class? lol get out, go take a class on human physiology or something.

Now there's more to it than this.  If you don't stimulate your muscles, then they can also be broken down.  IE. atrophy of the muscles will set it with the lack of exercise of the tissue, blood circulation, poor nutrition, etc.

Actually, what Apollo said was true even though there is some truth to what you said as well.  What you're ignoring is that greater muscle mass requires more energy to maintain and therefore losing muscle mass(such as through sedentary activity like playing WOW all day) will lower your metabolism.
This is one of the reasons why women generally have a harder time staying thin than men.

People metabolize at different rates depending on how active they are. Sedentary people (WoW addicts) take a big hit in their metabolism. BMR is multiplied by a
factor with a value between 1.2 and 1.9, depending on the person's
activity level. Those values would make a big difference.

Back in the day, everyone was either active or very active so BMR didn't have this factor. Now we have WoW, so they had to add activity level to the equation.

Why do you call us whiners and babies when you know nothing of us and you opened this thread by whining about WoW?
If you think that people telling you about WoW is a problem my lifes story would have you crying rivers of blood.

It's because you clearly don't like this post, yet you feel the need to post in it anyway to express your disapproval of it to me even though I don't care what you think since whether or not I annoy you is no concern of mine, nor is your life story which has nothing to do with this thread.

I interpret that as whining.

Don't make that out as resentment, think of it more as apathy.  I don't care about what insects think but that doesn't mean I go out of my way to hate them.

Its clear you don't like WoW players yet you feel the need to post on another site that has nothing to do with WoW to express your disapproval of it to others even though half of the people here dont care what you think or are concerned about you. My life story was an example that if your only problem is WoW people talking to you then consider yourself lucky.

I interpret that as whining.

I haven't insulted insects have i?

Damn straight I'm whining, and ****ing.  I have never denied it.  This is the off topic forum so this subject is fair game.  You clearly don't fancy this posting so perhaps you should follow your boyfriend's lead and leave.
Or  you can keep posting and bump the thread up if you'd like.  Give more people a chance to read my rant, that would be fine with me.

And what did you think you were going to get out of this?
If you just want to have people hear you out, go on a blog or whatever so you get to express yourself and no one responding to it. I used to be a hardcore WoW player but never in public did I talk about it with other people or make it my main source of socializing. I talk about sports, movies, and other daily things like anyone else.
