Pretty much this for me, even as a vangaurd its not that hard, not fun either but still it has one or two difficult parts but for the most its simple logic of not getting shot and minimalising exposure.
Kasumi dlc helps, locust, flashbang and kasumi all valuable assets.

I also noticed that as the game progressed, my reaction to situations became almost automatic, like "OK Grunt go there, Garrus stay behind that crate, time to drone this dude, incinerate that group etc. etc." You don't even bat an eyelid at some point  Of course, some parts are hell, but the difficulty isn't really that consistent.

I use their powes anyway, but telling them were to go I gave up, "OK stay behind that pipe" *watches as they run out from behind the place I directed tham too* ... "****ing AI" It was annoying because they would move or just not use the cover.

OP, do you use squad cryo? Use it if possible, will make mostly everything much easier.

Insanity's more of a patience test than a difficulty bump, overall hardcore is more fun, you don't spend half your time waiting for shields to regen. Admittedly the scion/husk wave on horizon was somewhat difficult, but that was about it for me, i did it with an infiltrator so i just cloaked whenever husks on the reaper or the praetorian on the collector ship got too close : / Everything else was just a matter of patiently moving up the area.

Hardcore lets you move much faster but still retains the tactical gameplay component provided by multiple defense layers on enemies.

Doing Insanity on any other class seem like a cake walk after doing it on a Vanguard.
 [/quote]

Mass Effect insanity was a lot harder when starting from level one,but after level 20 it becomes a cakewalk.

After the collector ship its a cakewalk, but yeah still on my insanity vangaurd, good choice to start imo, because other classes will be easier, seeing as how vangaurds power is charge which exposes you, but yeah its fun.

Insanity in ME1 was not hard, it was annoying

I just stared on Insanity on ME2 yesterday with a level 1 Infiltrator and was killed three times in the first fight with the mechs on Freedoms Progress before going to bed last night.

Thinking I should import my ME1 file again, maybe that will help.

This game is to easy. Insanity can be challanging, but it's not all that hard.

Whoever thought this game was to hard, should try playing some real hardcore games like NinjaGaiden, Devil May Cry, Halo 2, RainbowSix, Ghost Recon, etc....Now some of these games eat you alive even on normal and hard difficulty's, never mind the insane/legendary/master ninja stuff that's about as ruthless as it gets.

When you can beat one of these games on hard, MassEffect2 on Insanity becomes a cakewalk. Believe me, I've played them all.

QFT, I've felt proud of myself after finishing DMC3 and Ninja Gaiden ON NORMAL, the first levels can be traumatizing. Halo 2 in Normal some parts can be difficult yes, on Legendary I didn't have the patience to go through the first level lol.

Yeah, I really love this. It's like you're doing the mental equivalent of martial arts or something - all your high-level tactics become simple reflexes after a while.

This is also the reason other difficulty levels become jokes after Insanity. I've never been able to play anything below Hardcore ever since my first Insanity run, because the reflexes kick in and the battles end too quickly, with no challenge. I demand more fun! <_<

Even using the Collector Rifle and my team's biotics, its seriously too much just to kill even one enemy. Don't even get me started on the Scion, it takes like 10 clips to take them down. I understand it is called Insanity for a reason but I think enemies should go down faster - much faster. I'm currently doing the run now and every major encounter becomes an hour affair. Go to cover, slowly deplete enemy shields, wait for powers to recharge, shoot, go back, and so forth. There are also times when a certain enemy will just walk straight into your area, and you can't do much because he/she has a barrier and getting out of cover to kill the enemy means you're dead.

This is not a rant or anything, I love ME2. This is my 3rd playthrough and I beat ME1 7 times. And no, I'm not arguing that ME3's difficulty should be made more casual, just smarter. It just doesn't make sense that even low-tier enemies need 2 clips to go down.

Thoughts?

dont get your mommy to buy you a rated M game next time.

So the completely optional hardest difficulty setting is too hard for you? Its optional for a reason. If anything insanity should be even harder.

Played through the game on insanity a couple of times without too much trouble but there are alot of people far more skilled than I. If they lowered the difficulty of insanity what would they do?

If you find insanity too hard just lower the difficulty. Did it ever strike you that perhaps bioware didn't intend for all players to be able to complete the game on insanity? If anyone could do it that would be proof that insanity wasn't nearly hard enough.

Once past Horizon you start to get a feel for it.. Instead of just running and gunning when you see something you begin to play smart and jump for cover. It's just a different way of playing and you have to adapt to it if you want to get through it.

Insanity mode was quite well done I thought. There were 3 sections that took me an age to get through, but after that it was all gravy.

It's not that the game is too hard on insanity, its a matter of finding out what weapons are best used to take which enemies down the quickest. Those Scion things on Insanity can go down in 12-14 rapid shots with stage for fire ammo on the Sniper Viper.

For those bug things, I switch my teams power usage to on. This way they concentrated on its armour whilst I used the Viper or Machinegun to drain it with a dash of slo-mo power up.

Collectors and anything fleshy should all have fire ammo used against them. Anything made of metal needs the electric bullets.

But seriously, the most valuable power up in this game is the slo-mo upgrade. Get this to stage 3 or 4 and you might aswell be God.

Harbringers can be easy enough if you can find a high enough wall to make them chase you around. Don't stay in cover when they fire that black ball as it just smack you off and then they hit you. A good way to get rif of these chaps quickly, is have your teams use what ever biotics they have, then you switch to slo-mo and gun for there head. Run for cover and recharge and repeat if you didn't kill them in the one go.

There is nothing hard about insanity. Learn to use strategy and to use the right allies. I easily beat the game on Insanity as an adept. Two biotics and Miranda and the game is easy.

Some of the fights are hard, some of the fights are tedious. I think I had to reload 4 times on the collector platform fight on insanity, which is about how many times I had to reload on my first time through on Normal difficulty. Harbinger not hanging back makes it tough because I can't take him out fast as a sentinel. On the fourth time I got most of the first platform out before harbinger assumed control and then used the collector rifle on him.

The husk charge right before you get off the ship was a mess as well, though I just ran backwards, using warp and the shotgun I picked up before the platform ambush.

The one mission that stands out to me, that I have not heard anyone mention on Insanity is the MSV Corsica mission. You investigate a crashed freighter and when you disable the distress beacon, you are swarmed by mechs. I determined that the mechs are infinite spawn and I had to take out the YMIR mech by myself while the 3 LOKI mechs continuously spawn and approach.

Every time I revived my teammates, they would die almost immediately.

I do have to admit, I used many different party members on insanity, trying to anticipate the skills that would best fit the mission.

Hmm ... I think the MSV Corsica spawns 180 Loki mechs ... so it's not .. quite .. infinite.

It's a tough mission, for sure ... but it's a sidequest with low XP and no research to be had. So totally skippable.

I play for fun. If a difficulty level ceases to be fun and just starts to be frustrating, I lower it. If a game has only one difficulty level and it's frustrating me, I stop playing. As a result, finishing the game on insanity is the only achievement I haven't completed on ME1 and 2.

That's pretty much it for me as well. I play Mass Effect to play it; I don't like to think of it as a shooter that offers players challenges more than it is an epic trilogy with a fascinating universe, story twists and characters. I honestly don't think I will ever get the difficulty Achievements - at least not any time soon. I just play Normal and Casual.

I think Insanity in Mass Effect 2 is easier compared to Mass Effect. Or maybe it just looks that way because I've imported a level 53 Soldier to Mass Effect 2 Image IPB
