After Mass Effect and The Witcher I was initially saddened when I found out that there would be no voice-acting on your own character's dialogue. However, as I have been playing the game now I haven't really even noticed it. It's working just fine as it is.

Immersion is not a problem. I know I don't look like my character so why would I sound like him? At the moment he feels a bit like an emotionless mute, especially with all the small 'goodness-look-at-that' cut-scenes, when he slightly raises his eyebrows. (see? it's not me, it's 'him').

Thought I'd just clarify something on this, it isn't that we like to imagine the PC has 'our' voice but rather consider it like reading a book, I tend to imagine a character as having a certain voice based on how they act and their personality etc and in a game like this then how the character acts and their personality is something that we as the player decide upon based on how we choose to play, so if there is full voice over then sometimes (Mass Effect is prime example) that voice does not match up to what I had in mind in my head and it can be jarring.

As for the scenes where your character has to use face expressions etc to convey communication because of a lack of voice over I can sympathise a little on this but would you really be willing to sacrifice 50% of the games content just so you could set this right??? lets assume the devs were exagerating when they came up with that number, would you even be willing to sacrifice 40% or even 30% of the game for this??? I sure as hell wouldnt.

Just say the line out loud before you select the dialogue number and listen to yourself saying the line. Problem solved. You're welcome.

BTW Mass Effect blew donkey balls.

Mass Effect was a refreshing twist to a rpg. After beating dragon age i'm hoping mass effect 2 will give me more satisfaction in the end. You get to use your mass effect 1 save and keep your character's class and choices. Also mass effect 2 will appeal to a much wider audience...i already know it will be game of the year 2010.
