Breakdown of actual value in survival situation:
1. Legion. A robot that requires no nourishment and is capable of preforming extremely difficult tasks without tire. Has onboard communication systems to send an SOS, does not need sleep when acting as guard, can fix almost anything you have with you. Killing him is the same as committing suicide...
Actually Legion needs power like everyone else and he goes on standby unless he is chosen for guard duty during night time in order to maintain energy. Getting him to do difficult tasks will just use up his energy reserves faster, not to mention the hostile desert sands can screw up his insides. If that happens he will malfunction. Therefore it is a good idea to turn him off completely and keep him inside the ship so he doesn't get damaged or lose any of his data due to his battery running out..

2 & 3. Grunt & Wrex. Krogan have reserves of food in their humps, allowing them to go a while without nourishment. They are physically adapt, capable of surviving the most hospitable environments with ease. Their survival instincts may backfire later on when it comes down to them or you, so it all depends on how long you are stranded.
Grunt is not used to scavenging for food and therefore was eating the most food if you cared to read the story. Wrex is fine but as you said if you leave him to live for long he may go into a bloodrage and kill the others. Therefore it is good that he died early when he could still be contained.

4. Tali. If there was anyone who could fix your ship and get you off that rock, [besides the super useful Legion] it is her. Hell, she could probably build you a new ship. Quarians are also extremely skilled at getting by with minimal supplies. And their food is uneatable.
There are no building materials in a desert. And the Normandy is destroyed beyond simple repairs otherwise these would have been conducted already. The repairs Garrus was doing for example were for the air conditioning system. Tali takes up a lot of resources and medicines to maintain her suit. And the dextro amino food had ran out. It makes sense that she died when she did.

5. Garrus, No particular skills to point out in a survival situation, but his food is the same as Tali's, uneatable. In a long term situation, you might have to pick one to survive.
Dunno why Garrus was killed. The Mirimaniacs are to blame.

6. Mordin. Scientist that could preform repairs and help keep your team alive. Most broad education with knowledge in a vast area of sciences, not just mechanics. High calorie intake requirement would burn through food fast, but the investment might pay off.
Agreed.

7 - 14. Kaiden, Jacob, Ashley, Miranda, Samara, Zheed, Kasumi, Liara. None have any relevant skills to survival. They are Red Shirts basically. [Most people will save their LI out of this group. This horribly screws results of polls.]
Jacob, Ashley and Zaeed all have survival training, especially in the case of Zaeed who is a veteran at staying alive. Kaidan, Miranda, Samara and Liara are biotics and though this may be used to help collect food/water, repair the ship, set up the campsite etc. it also has the potential for destruction if a fight breaks out and it consumes a lot fo energy meaning the biotics will be eating more food than the others. Kasumi has no special survival skills but also consumes the least amount of food out of the group having a smaller body mass. However she is used to the urban luxury setting so might find it difficult to cope and may eat more food than those with survival training.

15. Thane. Guna be dead in a year anyway. Not much of an individual to waste supplies on.
Agreed. However some have suggested to keep him around if order to get high on.

16. Jack. Crazy **** who only cares about herself, would kill everyone around her to survive without giving it a second thought. just get rid of her as soon as possible. Dont even bring her on your ship if you are smart.
Agreed.
