I don´t see the problem with "legs and cleavage". I mean, sometimes it´s a bit ridiculous, but would you honestly prefer the women in games to be fat and ugly?

There is such a thing as 'too much.'  "Fat and ugly [women]" have nothing to do with placing higher emphasis on physical features such as "legs and cleavage" over more significant traits, skills, or even basic role(s) (in game).

Again, I point to this video which is rather well-done in its analytical assessment of such subject matter.

this video is indeed very true.Much emphasis is placed on sexuality in not only game mediums but almost all mediums.I don't think you'll see a lot of change until certain changes happen in a male dominated world where women are still and often treated as less than nor equal to men. I myself like a scantily clad woman character and male characters as well, but then I march to the sound of a different drummer anyway.Image IPB

Why can't we all just be nude? Yeah, there's a question for you, makes you wonder.

Sunburn.

Besides of that it would make me wish to be blind. No offense.

Generally I would be all for, cleavage and "eye candy". But I was at a club the other night (shh, don't tell my parents, lol) and they where playing all these Hollywood music videos, you know the ones with the big breasted ****ty women and so on.

I'm not going to lie, it was nice to look at, but video after video featured the same ****ty women. So what I guess im trying to say is, there becomes a point where cleavage, etc becomes used and "run of the mill"; there becomes a point where there is too much.

The great advantage of RPG´s is the conversational side of the games. I mean, cleavage may work fine to make a sexy character, but even if Morrigan was dressed with nun robes (which can be the case), she still has a very sensual voice (kuddos for Claudia Black!) and a no less sensual way of adressing topics very often times.

Nobody gets a bitter taste with a candy, that´s for sure, but I think it´s far more effective to show overt sexuality by means of spoken word and mannerism than with tight clothing. Sure, if they come from both, even better! :P

Another good example of this is Tali. Sure, she´s not the same as Morrigan or Miranda who are clear; but by means of the way she talks, the way she moves and even the way she hold´s Sheppard´s hands, the tone and intent of her words is clear, very clear; and tremendously cute at the same time.

OP take it from someone who knows about this stuff, even contemplating such a topic is clinically insane.

Its not a case of 'male dominance' but a case of 'sex sells' (for both genders).  Advertising companies would show full on sex shows if they were allowed to.  Until they have social obligations forced on them companies will continue to use such tactics, regardless of gender.

@Tirigon - I think the Morrigan bit is subjective considering how many guys seem to find her hawt around these parts, and that she was intentionally designed as sexually attractive. (I realize you tacked on IMO but the preceding sentence read like an objective statement.)

For months before Dragon Age released, Morrigan was the poster child for the lust in advertisement taglines. I also posit Morrigan does care for her looks at least a little to wear make-up and appreciate finer jewelry. I'm not interested in butting into your debate, but that line was too hard for me to resist.

I'm afraid I'm jumping in a little late here again. Not disagreeing with anything here just adding my 2 cents. Statulos basically stated a part of what I was thinking on the next page.

For Morrigan, her sexual appeal goes beyond the basic looks and clothing. For a lot of people, Claudia Black has a very sexy voice. Many guys won't notice it but it's the subconscious effect of things like that, or for another example those piercing yellow eyes of hers, that bring that various levels of attraction. Just like in most situations, the man or woman that stands out from the rest tends to get more interest. Whatever your "thing" is, it's grabbing you on a deeper level than just omg bewbz!

I would argue the same for Alistair's voice. His 2 day stubble beard as well. He has the sort of rugged knightlyness that many women have been conditioned to find attractive. I think it's more than the abs....

Women should be wrapped in hiqabs, it's the only way to stop their effect on men's perverted lust.

Do you people actually consider waht you say, or do you just jump right in?

That doesn't solve the issue.
It justs turns it so women feel they have to "repress" their sexuality.

If you're being sarcastic, then maybe you have a point.

If not, then it's a silly idea. It doesn't "stop the effect" at all. It changes the situation so women feel ashamed of their own bodies, as if they're not fit to be seen. If anything, it increases the lust factor because it's "taboo" and so forth.

Yes it does. Unless you are completely incapable of reading the tone of a sentence. In which case there's probably some centre of learning you could probably learn something from?

Thats exactly what I stated a few days ago...SUBTLE is sexy too.  :)   You don't have to let it all hang out..to be sexy.    Leaving something to the imagination works too.  ;)

I considered what I said. I don't think any of it was controversial or offensive. If you have a differing opinion feel free to debate the points and we can have a discussion.

Well, Panderfringe, while you may have a point about sarcasm, do realize many people will not pick up on it on the internet. Trying to be witty or making a joke your intended audience is unlikely to understand makes the entire exercise fairly pointless.

No, we're talking about actual repression like wearing a hiqab.
