I love hot women and scantily clad PC characters, I am not repressed by the human form in any medium nor do I believe in hell.Masticetobbacco wrote...
this is a stupid arguement. Revealing clothing, ******, high heels, and sexy tights on ass kicking women are appealing to all unless you are a homosexual or a feminist. And still, hot women should only offend the later.

For Morrigan, her sexual appeal goes beyond the basic looks and clothing. For a lot of people, Claudia Black has a very sexy voice. Many guys won't notice it but it's the subconscious effect of things like that, or for another example those piercing yellow eyes of hers, that bring that various levels of attraction. Just like in most situations, the man or woman that stands out from the rest tends to get more interest. Whatever your "thing" is, it's grabbing you on a deeper level than just omg bewbz!
I would argue the same for Alistair's voice. His 2 day stubble beard as well. He has the sort of rugged knightlyness that many women have been conditioned to find attractive. I think it's more than the abs....
Okay then... I agree, I guess?

*cough*
Women can be "homosexual" too. Deyz called lesbians and I'm sure many of them like the naughty video game girls too.

Can I just say I don't find Morrigan attractive in most ways? Blergh.Seagloom wrote...
Okay then... I agree, I guess? Not much else I can say to this since you're probably right. Except for the yellow eyes thing. I find Morrigan's eyes a bit unsettling. Scratch that, I find that eye shade unsettling in general. Those werewolves look freaky after breaking their curse for the same reason. I think it's mostly her bewbs and voice that brings the boys to the yard, so to speak though. Maybe I'm underestimating many men, but those old Morrigan debates did little to dissuade me from that line of thought.

No no, you've got it right. All people are attracted by the base items like looks and such. That's part of nature. The vast majority of people, the "average" if you will, fail to recognize the subconscious things that also attract them to others. That's all I was saying. When you look a little deeper, you start to see that the best written characters in stories are the ones that invoke both conscious visual attraction and a more subtle one as well. Same thing will real peeps.
Statulos put it better than I. Something about the hidden stuff is fun too or something.

If you're being sarcastic, then maybe you have a point.
If not, then it's a silly idea. It doesn't "stop the effect" at all. It changes the situation so women feel ashamed of their own bodies, as if they're not fit to be seen. If anything, it increases the lust factor because it's "taboo" and so forth.
I agree with this statement.

But on a serious note, we're not talking bullplop like "Women's Rights" (Ahem. I support Equality for Women, not Women's Rights. They're different), we're talking just standard "equality". I think it's easy to gloss over that some women in gaming who are considered scantily clad are actually quite prudish compared to some male figures in stories.
Conan and Tarzan are two great examples of what I mean. Hell, even 300 is a good way to show what I mean. If it's relevant to the setting (as it is in all those examples), then I don't see why there should ever be a problem. If men have to put up with Arnie-esque guys in our fantasy films, then surely it's not unfair for women to have to "put up" with women in scant clothing?
It's when it's out of context that I think we really get the issues. I've seen it in JRPGs/Eastern settings more than I have WRPGs or western settings, where you've got a female character walking around in a thong and a tiny strap across her chest (exaggeration, I know) along with these metrosexual men in full armor. That's where I think the problem is.
Yes, I think you could say that there is objectification on some levels and the standard appeal-to-the-crotch marketing that happens a lot, but it's more of an issue if you look at the context. If you put Red Sonja with characters like Conan (where she originated) then where is the issue? But if you put her in some sort of medieval setting? It just looks silly and "forced".
So many pieces to this puzzle, kiddies.
EDIT: Blergh, formatting fail.

Before the advent of women in video games, video games were meant for males to release stress and chill in a fantasy world. We could kick ass alongside impossibly hot women. When women entered the video game industry, companies had to make some massive revisions to open up their market for the other 50% of the human population. This is fine, but to many male gamers, the graphical content has been downplayed.
Accusing something of :" lol that iz offensive to women" is just fcking retarded. In real life no one can think like this and women should be and are respected, but in a video game, some people need to stop being soilsports. Why can't I have a good looking video game character with a tight ass, high heels, sexy face, and that kicks ass without an angry feminist or **** without complaining. Those people can complain in real life, don't ruin the virtual world for us please

As for everything else you said, you are confusing the issue. Looking sexy or whatever is not the problem.

Scantily clad women are offensive when there is absolutely no reason for them to be so (such as when you're fighting in bloody combat, or in space). It's purely for the titillation of the male audience, which is why a female audience would demand equality, or no fanservice at all.
