It depends on the situation. I do Paragon options when it involves innocent people, e.g I'll stop the kid signing up with the freelancers.

But if someone deserves to die then I will use the Renegade options. e.g I'll kick the Eclipse Merc out the window.

If you stick to about 70% paragon and get your class skill up to 4, choosing whatever specialization gives you 100% increase, you should be fine.

It works the other way, too, but be warned that you will lose Zaeed's loyalty if you make a "no killing innocents" call on his mission. Not a huge deal, you can still keep everyone alive at the end, just don't use him for any specialist missions. Downside is the loss of his inferno grenade, though :/

You can keep his loyalty if you pass a (relatively difficult) charm check. Thought letting the workers die is "easier". God, hearing their screams as they burn alive was quite harsh.

My main Shepard is Colonist-Ruthless. She watched her family and everyone she loved killed or taken by slavers. Understandably, she hates slavers with a passion and strongly dislikes Batarians. She is normally a very compassionate person, but when it comes to putting down slavers or the worst of criminals, she has no mercy and no remorse. If she has to let a dozen innocents or good soldiers die to kill someone responsible for thousands of innocent deaths, so be it. Saving everyone only happens in the vids.

As for how to make difficult speech checks, the only hard ones are Miranda/Jack conflict Paragon, Tali/Legion Renegade, and Morinth either. The easiest way to pass these is to mostly favour one or the other on your p/r meter, max passive (preferably the 100% option), and get these choices in your game asap. The further you are in your game, the harder these are to pass with a mixed alignment character.

I played as a total paragon all the way through me2 but not really paing attention in me1 about paragon or renegade ,

I suggest having mixed reponses to certain situation's.

Eg.Being rightous when need be or Cold & calculating when the situation arise's.

The trick to doing all those 'difficult' persuade checks are to do the missions at low levels. I completed the Zaeed mission paragon 'check' with only 1.5 bar of paragon. I think I was only level 6 at that time.

Play with a ME 1 import character and prioritize the missions that net you the least amounts of paragon/renegade points towards the end. Also ignore the N7 side missions till the end as you don't want to level too fast.

I started ME 2 with an ME 1 import character with 190 paragon points with 169 renegade points. It seems you only need to fill 75% of each bar in ME1 to get 190 points. Anything over is wasted.

I meant for "Renagons"--  my mostly renegade character didn't have nearly enough paragon points to pass that check.  But leaving innocent people to burn alive just for revenge?  That and picking Morinth over Samara were two lines I couldn't cross.

The other important thing to keep in mind is that the Miranda/Jack confrontation is easier to resolve as a renegade and the Tali/Legion is easier as a paragon. I realized this on a playthrough where I had higher renegade points but only the paragon option was available for Tali/Legion.

My balanced Shepard is good to crew but tough on bad guys. Since you have no crew early in the game you have more opportunities to pump up you renegade. Later in the game, paragon will catch up. Do Miranda and Jack's loyalty missions as soon as they are available. I got the renegade option for that. Then start developing your relationships with the crew and do Tali/Legion at the end and you should have enough paragon to pass that one. I didn't get either advanced option for Tali's loyalty mission so I let her get exiled and kept her loyalty.

It's Zaeed who wants revenge. Shepard's motivation is up to you.

I kinda agree though that there's no real sensible reason to choose Morinth. It's like someone forgot this isn't KotOR when they wrote that part.

Also, for Tali you can incite the crowd to get Tali cleared if you've made nice with Kal'Reegar and Veetor. I actually quite like this option.
