Why should soldiers abandon their base? The base is the heart of any military organization, its the last stand, it provides supplies and shelter, its pretty much the last thing which is going to fall in an apocalypse event.   The only abandoned military base you are going to find is a burned and bombed ruin.

You're right...I live about an hour's drive away from there.. I would assume that bridges, communications etc wouldn't be available...so scratch that idea.

I live out in the "boonies'...lots of wildlife around here..maybe best staying put.   hehe

Isn't there some sort of generator..existing that you can crank by hand to supply small amounts of electricity when needed? I would buy one of those ..if so. Coleman lamps ..things like that.

Considering that everyone else here was talking about heading North, I'd say that they probably wouldn't stay on base. Mob mentality is a dangerous thing. You have to be smarter than everyone else.

Well if the power cell gets damaged you can BBQ all living organisms in sight in a matter of seconds.- Warm food = good!
