No I am pretty sure at that point they would see that psychopathic gleam in my eye and they would know I was coming to take a bite out of them.

Yes it is, here we also call it ''Bauernsäbel'' which means '' peasent saber , because peasants were allowed to carry this kind of weapon because it was not a sword. (Only knights and soliders were allowed to own swords)

The features making it a knife is the blade, its only sharp one one side and the handle with the two sandwiched wooden plates - like a knifes handle.

No, not at all, there is nothing wrong with drooling over nice hardware.

Why is that strange? I mean, I have a nice colection of swords, spears, axes and shields (even a chainmail), Seems like the ravishing spell is shared!

That is the great trick. Both sides of the blade are actually sharpened, but one is not completely so. Still, enough cutting edge to twist and cut once stabbed.

Chainmail is a good idea to avoid zombie bites, in fact, a medieval suit of armor would make you almost indestructible to zombie hordes.

Mine is a lorica hamatta. Medieval ones are not really different, though.

It has to be worn over a subarmalis/gambesson to be more confortable but considering its balance between weight and protection, it´s one of the best options. Far cheaper, confortable and cooler than a plate mail.
