After playing Dragon age on the console version through 5 times, it became very boring so I went to the computer shop and got a graphics card for £80 and bought DAO for pc and realised how much better it was on the pc :wizard:

This.

A major reason for gaming on the PC generally, really.  Some aspect of the game need some serious fixing or just light tweaking?  PC gamer: Type...click...click,..install.  Console gamer: F@&%!!

This. Between the game and the toolset, I get nothing done.

Everything is better on PC, that's why you pay out the backside for a decent one.

Well, except for all those console exclusive / delayed release on PC games, but yeah the platform itself is superior in every way (except supercasual user-friendliness, I suppose).

Good, I was going to buy the ps3 version but a mate on warcraft said I should get the pc version instead, I subsequently quit warcraft after getting hopelessly hooked on DA. Come to think about it, maybe that was his plan all along.

I bought DA for 360 because I'm currently using a roughly six year old IBM business laptop. I was hoping for at least a solid approximation of the PC experience. Can't say I got one, and the sad part is it really doesn't have to be this way. Microsoft and Sony could very easily integrate USB mouse/keyboard functionality, allowing you the same level of play/camera control that makes the PC version so vastly superior.

Honestly, I don' t understand why this hasn't happened. Of the last chunk of gamers desperately clinging to the dying PC platform, a large percentage are hung up on the lack of mouse/keyboard control for consoles. If Sony/MS simply embraced these devices, they'd have a whole new customer base - and I wouldn't feel so stupid for trying to shoe-horn a great RPG onto a platform that simply doesn't support it.

Now, take your experience with Dragon Age, and extrapolate it to cover all multiplatform games which haven't specifically been designed for a console, and you'll see why the PC is the best platform for gaming. Even though I also own both consoles, I could never have a console as my primary platform, because of the lack of mods.

The mouse and keyboard isn't the main issue, although it is one of them. Consoles are also much less powerful than gaming PCs, which is the real reason for many of the changes between PC and console versions of DA:O (eg. texture quality, number of enemies onscreen at a time, etc).

The most important issue, however, is the lack of modding scenes for console games. Consoles will never offer the freedom to tweak and personalise games, make or use mods, and customise graphics settings, etc, that PCs do, because the console-makers don't want it that way. They control their platform like Big Brother, and that is the price console gamers pay for their relative ease of use.

You are forgetting that Halo can be modded for Xbox. So no cookie for all of you. Modding is possible, albeit not as much as what a PC can do, but still Halo can be modded using a Xbox.

Well guys, every platform has it's own ups and downs. For PC, you can mod, true, but you also need to have a well configured one to play the game without lag issues. But I guess we all can say PC beats PS3/XBOX 360 when it comes to Dragon Age.

Vigilance has a clown handle that makes it look like an umbrella. Nothing wrong with the blue sword.

obviously gaming on PC is more complicated, you need to tune your rig, graphics settings, drivers, but once you understand all that it's abso-efing-lutely a worth while experience.

I also find I get bored easier on consoles. I own a PS3, but I find I get tired of it within an hour... though, I suppose that's a good thing.

In my opinion Mass Effect (2) is superior on the Xbox360, gameplay-wise. Same goes for other games like Gears of War (part 2 didn't even make it to the PC).

Howerver, DA:O is obviously far better on the PC, no question about it. So yeah, I'm mainly a console gamer, but I'm glad my Mac (that I mainly use for animating and designing) can run games pretty well also (under Windows with bootcamp that is).

I didn't buy my Mac for videogames and I'm not planning to use it as a videogame platform, but for the rare occasions that I rather play the PC version of a game (such as DA:O) I'm glad my Mac is able to run these games under bootcamp. But so far the only games I'm playing on my Mac are DA:O, Left4Dead (2) and Call of Duty: MW(2). The rest I play on my Xbox360.
