Which character deaths do you think will have the most impact in ME3?

Just out of curiousity, and assuming the current crew are still of value/playable in ME3 (unlike Ashley and Kaiden now) which characters absence do you think will make the biggest difference with the story?

An example would be letting Miranda & Jacob die - ties with Cerberus could become quite weak or even more problematic (if you didn't have Miranda resign while on the collector ship :P)

I don't assume to know what Bioware intends to do with the current characters in the next game, but what kind of impacts would be interesting to you guys based on who lived and who died?

Edit: I'm aware there is a similar post about this, but I'm more interested in pure fun speculation vs. what may logically happen based on what happened with Kaiden and Ashley.

Stating the obvious, but the death of Shepard will probably make a pretty massive difference in ME3 (I was thinking about this, and you know what? I'm thinking they may make Tali, Garrus and Liara the playable characters if Shepard is dead).

I think the death of Tali would also make a big difference in the Geth/Quarian plot. Shes rising in the ranks politically and with her you might be able to avoid the conflict that is bound to happen, and perhaps gain both the quarians and the geth in the final fight with the reapers.

Judging from the "HUGE" impact ME1 had on ME2...

Nothing will really matter...

Ahh yeah, I can't wait to see what the effects of destroying/merging the Geth in Legions' loyalty mission are. If he's sold to Cerberus instead of activated it'd be crazy to imagine fighting more Geth along side the Reapers.

I trust bioware to make the Rachni's appearance in the final fight rather impressive (If you saved them).

Spoiler alert! Well not really... Read the scratched text at your own peril...

If you play a paragon game in ME2, your ties with Cerberus will be strained regardless of whether or not Miranda and/or Jacob die.

Most other character deaths will have limited to no impact in ME3 regardless of choices made. Letting Garrus and/or Tali die could pose some major problems, though. The quarians, in particular, will most likely be a focal point in ME3... and they are a very close-knit group.

I just picked the first lame example that came to mind Posted Image

I'm aware that's probably how things will turn out, but it's still interesting to think about what 'could' happen, or what problems would logically occur if a certain teammate perishes; regardless of whether or not Bioware decides to give it much impact.

hmmm let's see, imo:

Thane--nothing, unless his son hears of his death some how, then something could come of that--e.g. take his place/anger at Shepard

Grunt--I want to say nothing, but talking to the Urdnot Shaman and reading his e-mail made it seem like they'd be pretty upset if Grunt died; may make relationships w/Krogan slightly difficult (couple that w/not having Wrex as clan leader)

Jack--sadly nothing will happen, she's expendable, even though she was my LI :(

Samara--if she died...no impact on ME3

Zaeed--see above; maybe more harassment by blue suns if he doesn't take over

Kasumi--hmmm, nothing--maybe. depends on if we have a copy of the the info from her loyalty mission

Jacob/Miranda--strained, if existent at all, relations w/Cerberus

Legion/Tali--see axeface's post

Garrus--even though he's a good friend of Shepard, it doesn't seem like he has a bigger place in the me universe--i mean to say, he quit c-sec to become a vigilante, i don't think one soldier like him will have a huge impact on the events of me3--maybe an emotional one on shepard but that's about it.

ah, last but not least Mordin--genophage would go uncured if maelon's work was saved that is; he is old in salarian years so i don't think he would have much to impact in me3 unless me3 took place immediately after me2
