Have you ever heared/saw a Voice Actor, and wondered... I can't imagine this is him?

Well here are some examples, please feel free to post more.

Most of the time yes, but in some cases the in game character is modeled a bit after the VA. For instance in ME 2 Miranda and TIM are each modeled after their prospective VA's (TIM to a slightly lesser degree). And in Heavenly Sword the main villain was pretty much Andy Serkis through and through.

One of the weird things is that the VA of Alistair also does the VA of one of the main characters in Uncharted 2 (as does Claudia Black) and each of those characters look similar but the VA does not look like either Alistair or the guy in Uncharted 2.

Didn't realize Mark Hammill was the voice of The Joker in all the great Batman cartoons I watched growing up until maybe 6 months ago. That was a bit of a shocker.

Why? Because he is Luke?

Luke was always a lunatic. He shoots rats in Tatooine for sport. Kisses his own sister. And goes berserk on his father.
Not to mention how he celebrates shamelessly after killing hundreds of thousands of imperial personel on the Death Star.

I know what you feel like, I can't imagine Mark Hidreth saying... NO in Sten's voice.

No because The Joker, especially in the older cartoons, sounds NOTHING like him. Sometimes you can hear a voice actor and think, "oh, I've seen this person before in such and such movie". Example: Rene Auberjonois (Odo from Deep Space Nine). Whenever I hear him voice a character I can recognize it's him. Or Tim Curry for example. His voice stands out when he does voice overs. But Hammill? The Joker is a pretty impressive piece of work. Nothing like his "voice" at all. You wouldn't associate the two out of the blue.

Edit: Typo

He's actually an amazing voice actor, until Heath Ledger, he was the Joker to me, just like Kevin Conroy was the definative Batman for so many years

Same. Everyone else was measuring Heath against Jack, but I always preferred Mark to Jack, and I think I'll put Heath and Mark on the same level. Image IPB

I think Mark Hamill's performance as the Joker in Mask of the Phantasm was better than Ledger's (RIP).
The Mask of the Phantasm Joker is the definitive version to me. Funny and scary as hell.

I'll never be able to give it to Hamill over Ledger. Remember: the guy's only using his voice. That's the only thing he has to worry about.

I think voice acting is at least as difficult as acting. In someways, it's even harder. It is kind of hard to summon an emotion when you have a microphone to your face and no ambience to conjure it.

Voice acting is acting on the most basic level. In any acting class, you start with the voice, and you progress to stage movement, projection, etc.

Graham McTavish, who voiced Arl Eamon also did Dante in Dante's Inferno. I never would have known he voiced Dante until I saw the credits. =]

Many interesting voices out there are interesting because of asthma... I can think of Shirley Manson from Garbage... ;)
