I can't talk details at the moment, but there is another update in the works. We've all been working to compile issues and QA and the dev team have been in bug triage continuously to decide on the contents of the patch and what fixes it will contain.

I've been watching the tech forums more and more to at least get information on issues, even if I don't have a ready fix for them. I'd encourage you to post to the appropriate ones to talk in detail about any issues that are really annoying you. There are posts at the top of each that detail how to report bugs so we can get the best understanding of what's going on and enter them into the bug database. In most cases, we are aware of the issues you'd meet, but a full description, rather than "this thing is broken", is always helpful to making the fixes we can.

Thank you. That's all we needed to hear. Any news on a toolset update?

Let me guess, the 360 will get the patch first followed by the PC, and then much, much later the PS3 COULD get the patch. Please prove me wrong.

Is the Silverite mine bug confirmed across all 3 platforms? Mine was on PC. Not going to play this until they fix this garbage, not worth my time or anyone elses for that matter.

Why can't you talk details? Why would anything you may or may not be updating be so secretive? I'd be happy just to know if the DLC and Bonus items will transfer and/or not interfere with the textures of certain Awakening items (ie Vigilance Sword). Really that seems to be people biggest complaint and I'm surprised that it hasnt been addressed more openly by the Bioware team. Sure, theyre are mod-workarounds but they're not really a complete fix, as you still have to choose between the starfang textures or vigilance textures...Which shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.

I know I'm not the only one that was frustrated as all hell to transfer a character in Wardens Keep armor and be naked when starting Awakening.

i think they're way more hesitant to talk details after the rto debacle.

I suppose thats true.. but they seem to be going from Lots of updates/information to zero... some middle ground would be nice.. I mean after a month of complaints about glaring game-breaking bugs and broken gameplay, they just now let us know they are working on something?
I get they're a profit-seeking-company, and that patching games isn't really top priority for the guys that run the business side.. but it really seems like there wasn't even testing on Awakening with the number of things that seem to be bugged if you even play it just twice.. it doesn't feel like a finished product to me.
I love the majority of the games Bioware puts out, but lately they (and many other developers) have just been releasing buggier and buggier games with long wait times of  patches that seem to break more things than they fix... it's as if there is no quality testing/assurance any more, and I've moved from early adopting to following the games updates till it seems playable. (and admittably a bit cheaper).

If hardware was sold this way the companies would go out of business or suffer serious losses from bad publicity. "Get our new TVs that sort of work... but in maybe 6 months have a firmware upgrade that fix some stuff... maybe breaks other stuff. No, there are no returns. "

Oh well. At least we know they're working on it now, and I'm grateful for that.

I only played a part of the game but here few I quote, sorted by anoying level.

A - VERY ANOYING :
a1 - Didn't get the specialization point at level 22:
  • Character level 18 imported (so a character before final of DAO).
  • All mods un installed before starting Awakening, DAO game save with all those mods un installed.
  • Only kept one core change to add a bit more tactics slots. Only a data table change with the toolset.
  • Warden Keep, Collector Content and Blood Armor DLC disabled, DAO game save with all those DLC disabled.
  • I can provide a save right before the level up, only a dialog to do or a
fight to do to level up.
  • It's been very annoying because it broke the game pace forced me stop
play the try find a solution, try mods, and lost many time.

a2 - Warden Keep not suported but Blood Talent not removed at import
A character imported that had the Blood Talent from Warden Keep still had them in Awakening but they was dead talent and tip tool just show them as unkown talents.

It's very anoying because it makes you feel you bought an unfinished game badly tested. I end lost a lot of time until I found how remove them myself with the toolset.

a3 - At nightmare mode the difficulty is easy
When you play DAO first time the difficulty is ok. When you replay there's a serious problem with a game too easy even at Nightmare mode.

I'm very surprised that this big issue hadn't been fixed with Awakening. Fights is a majort part of the game so require a major care from designers and difficulty destroy easilly the fun of fights. Very anoying bug, design bug.

B - Anoying but I didn't care much:
b1 - The first time I played the game I got a crash very soon during a fight
Well got it only once with a newly created character. After that I removed all mods and disabled most DLC.

b2 - Official DLC not fully supported
It's a little tedious to see some items disapearing at import and some other not. Well I waste some time to know which one disapear but overall I felt it only like a little trouble and felt ok that not all DLC items was supported.

C - A bug... but I like and felt it as a feature:
c1 - I get 100% approval when Velanna join me.
Honestly I didn't felt it was a bug but more a game feature making me suspect that it would be quite difficult to keep the approval up as the game progress. So believed it was a design trick.

I just completed it and I had terrible trouble with crash to desk top, never have any issues with the original. I lost my gear including my lovely far song bow, I won't say where but I'm sure people can guess.

I was fighting level 18 mobs when my team was level 30 resulting in the game being far too easy.

I'd say that one of the biggest issues that I deal with on a daily basis is how a lot of mods are blocked from being able to load on new characters, or when the mods are installed.
I cant even count how many times I've tried to help folks with this issue, on other sites.

And honestly, it sends a big nasty mixed signal.  The game was intended to be released, and being able to add player content.  The tools to do so are provided by the company.  But now, much of that content is blocked.  What kind of a message does that send?

Yes, I lost my gear in the mine too.

I got so fed up with the issues of this patch/expansion that I completely reinstalled.  And did not reinstall DAA or patch 1.03.

Also should mention that for those of us who are taking this route, that patch 1.02 should be made more readily available for DL and manual install, thru LEGITIMATE sources.   I got mine off of fileplanet, however, that file is no longer there.

And I have GOT to point out the memory leak.  Its rediculous that premieum gaming systems are crashing and suffering memory loss because of a some codes that could/should be changed.

If BW fixes some visual, audio and dialogs bugs in both Awakening and Origins then I will be satisfied. Until that day; could the people of BW fix these issues please? For us the people who truly love your games. With sugar on top and chocolate sprinkles

To be perfectly fair memory leaks aren't just blatantly obvious pieces of code that someone forgot to tie off with a visually-helpful ribbon. It's usually a single line of code, sometimes even a single typo'd character, in hundreds of thousands of lines of code that can cause an object pointer to fly off elsewhere while whatever it was pointing to lies forgotten in memory.

While it would be nice for the number of leaks to be kept to a minimum, it's unrealistic to expect them gone, even moreso when developers have publishers breathing down their necks to release a timely product.

Please keep in mind that BW also still works on patching
the oc, for instance the empty c++ function call on
entering the Lothering chantry / Dane's Refuge.

Heck - they aren't broodmothers and have to keep
release day deadlines for more than just 1 or two
other products in mind.

lol almost had it, missed the "break 360 copy of the game"

I can hardly wait to see what disasters come from this patch, oh boy!

blocking content like per mesh name blacklists is a strange concept of game
balance, even if it worked without affecting the oc
- it only provokes folks into bringing each and every item from the oc and dlc
into the expansions, some causing real trouble like freezes and ctd, instead
of just causing minor game debalance (like for a multiplayer campaign)

I've had a couple of issues, none were game breaking though.

Full blackblade armor was unattainable. The high dragon didn't drop anything.

During the final cutscene of killing the last boss, vigilance was showed as a short sword.

During sigrun's joining the cup was missing when she drank from it.

The game crashed many times, and was laggy at some points. I have an extremely good computer so absolutely no lag should occur. None of this happened while playing the OC.

Those are the ones that really stood out. So glad that we got some feedback from BioWare about an update in the works :)

PS. XBox or PC version?
I had no such issues on DAO A  PC

During the final cutscene of killing the last boss, vigilance was showed as a short sword.

The same goes for any other weapon, iirc and also for the oc (archdemon deathblow, execution at Landsmeet)
Helps to avoid issues with class limitaions, inappropriate weapons et c.
You'll always see a placeholder blade instead of the equiped weapon.

During sigrun's joining the cup was missing when she drank from it

Happens when a charater is still in combat stance while a cutscene triggers, current or previous when
there is a series of cutscenes..

I played for the majority of the day (4/16/10) and I had no problems whatsoever. No crashing, no missing items after that one quest, no visual or audio bugs.

However, I was a little irked that I could not import the equipment from the Warden's Keep DLC, nor keep the abilities I gained from that DLC. So until a patch comes out that fixes these issues, I will continue on with my Orlesian Warden.

Given that Bioware has already announced that was intended by design and there's a decently sized list of coding mistakes that need to be addressed, I don't think you should hold your breath.

I know of 2 community patches wich adress both the warden's keep gear and abilities export into
Awakening, one of them runs here and works like a charm for each and every char

- so ack, no pressure :wizard:

Why the hell would that be a intended design? "huurrr duurrr make them pay for 2 abilities and armor then take it away from them after they give us more money from an expansion!"
IF the intended design was to not let us have armor and 2 abilities that we PAID for in an expansion we PAID for.. then it truly makes bioware look like a bunch of A-holes. Do you have a link where they say this is intentional?

So far I have had trouble with the quest Living Wood (I think thats the name) The trees in the forrest do not have a 100% drop rate so having killed them all I now have no way to complete the mission, I only received 4 out of 5 drops.

I actually thought that was bugged too, it just turned out i had missed the last tree for like half an hour... on TWO characters.. haha.

Its a possibility, but I have seen many others mention this as a bug too, and I have to the best of my knowledge covered the entire map 2 times.

moving from wending wood to turnip keep :P a random encounter takes place in canyon road. this place has no map or minimap. (not exactly a problem lol its tiny)

And I found another tree and completed my quest....... i  passed that exact path a dozen times, behind the 2 statues. it was not there till i left and returned. but quest done.

There is a 37 (and counting) page thread about 1.03 patch issues and a 20 page thread about Awakening bugs in the tech forums. Both threads were started...a month ago.

How many of those posts are repetitions of "HERP DERP NO BLOOD DRAGON ARMORZ" though, even though it's been repeated ad nauseum that only RtO content would DEFINATELY be carried over to DAA?

(Oh, and Stone Prisoner is more of a patch than DLC, Shale was intended to be in the game from release IIRC.)

I won't say that DAA was without glitches (I too noticed the instant +100 to rep with a few characters) but it seems to be that the majority of the more glaring ones are conflicts with player/third party mods on PC systems. I never experienced a single one of these game killer bugs on the 360.
