That's about the size of it. When wholely owned, etc, they patched. They patched and improved for years. They haven't done more than minimal patching on any game since being bought by EA. The bosses have spoken, and support is a waste of money.
Bioware's bug-fixing track record predates EA.
The best and most complete bug fixes for Baldur's Gate II were community made packs... bugs that were never fixed by Bioware.

I can't talk details at the moment, but there is another update in the works. We've all been working to compile issues and QA and the dev team have been in bug triage continuously to decide on the contents of the patch and what fixes it will contain.
I've been watching the tech forums more and more to at least get information on issues, even if I don't have a ready fix for them. I'd encourage you to post to the appropriate ones to talk in detail about any issues that are really annoying you. There are posts at the top of each that detail how to report bugs so we can get the best understanding of what's going on and enter them into the bug database. In most cases, we are aware of the issues you'd meet, but a full description, rather than "this thing is broken", is always helpful to making the fixes we can.

They were a small company back then. And anyway, BG2 bugs were very rare to get, not something everyone gets like in Awakenings. You couldn't lose equipment or fail to get quests.
NWN had patches and upgrades long after HotU was released. The last one is 1.69. When the game was 6 months old there were at least 10 patches. Ok, I know it's easier on the PC than on consoles, but still, things have changed.

Now they refuse to patch the PC unless they also patch the console. Since console patching is slow and inconsequential, guess what we're left with?
Right after DAO came out and people complained about the Shapeshifter being largely worthless, one of the devs asked how we'd change it as if he'd like to upgrade it in a patch. It never happened. No doubt he got pushed into making another DLC, etc.
DAA (or rather, the DAO patch that needs to be in place to run DAA) broke pickpocketting. A quick hotfix could have been rushed out the door to fix it... nawww. So much better to just leave an entire skill tree worthless.
Bioware isn't the consumer-focussed company they used to be.

Bugs I am currently dealing with:
Yuriah's stock will not update with the Paragon Silverite Rune Tracing, even though the Trade Must Flow quest has been completed.
The weapon runes flagged as armor runes bug. On this bug, it seems that I cannot equip a Masterpiece Silverite rune on a weapon as it is flagged as armor also.
I am on my initial playthough and I am at the point where I am gearing up to begin the quest The Assault on Amaranthine, but I don't want to begin this quest until I have access to the top-tier runes. Basically, I can no longer continue the game until these bugs are patched.

to get every upgrade you have to
1. save the merchant in the very beginning
2. tell the seneschal during the nobles party to protect everything or just the trade routs.
3. save lillith in the bandit random encounter and ask the qunari in the silverite mine to trade
if you don't do all of these things you can finish the quest and not get all the up grades.
I thought it was a glitch to but its just very easy to miss a step for me it was the first one so i didn't get any upgrades including the lighting runes so i cloud not make the hartwood item.
