That's about the size of it.  When wholely owned, etc, they patched.  They patched and improved for years.    They haven't done more than minimal patching on any game since being bought by EA.  The bosses have spoken, and support is a waste of money.

That's not entirely accurate.
Bioware's bug-fixing track record predates EA.
The best and most complete bug fixes for Baldur's Gate II were community made packs... bugs that were never fixed by Bioware.

They were a small company back then. And anyway, BG2 bugs were very rare to get, not something everyone gets like in Awakenings. You couldn't lose equipment or fail to get quests.
NWN had patches and upgrades long after HotU was released. The last one is 1.69. When the game was 6 months old there were at least 10 patches. Ok, I know it's easier on the PC than on consoles, but still, things have changed.

I can't talk details at the moment, but there is another update in the works. We've all been working to compile issues and QA and the dev team have been in bug triage continuously to decide on the contents of the patch and what fixes it will contain.

I've been watching the tech forums more and more to at least get information on issues, even if I don't have a ready fix for them. I'd encourage you to post to the appropriate ones to talk in detail about any issues that are really annoying you. There are posts at the top of each that detail how to report bugs so we can get the best understanding of what's going on and enter them into the bug database. In most cases, we are aware of the issues you'd meet, but a full description, rather than "this thing is broken", is always helpful to making the fixes we can.

Almost 2 weeks since any update or news about a patch. I really want to play awakening but I just cant till the quest bugs are fixed, they really do ruin the game/experience for me. Can you let us know anything else Victor? Thanks.

item set bonus stats and indications for rings do not appear in vigils keep or if you change characters unless you take the ring off and put it back on.

when returning to vigils keep after talking to valanna's clan her quest conversation happens without her being visible.

when talking to the architect if anders is in you party the screen blacks out you can pick a conversation option to further the plot how ever.

there are the skin and quest issues but other people have mentioned these.

this is not a glitch but a pet peeve i wish the random encounter occurrence for special items like the dragon brand and dumat claw was higher I've spent hours every play through to get them and it slows down game play.

So are they done creating a Q&A and prioritizing the bugs yet?

Bugs I am currently dealing with:

Yuriah's stock will not update with the Paragon Silverite Rune Tracing, even though the Trade Must Flow quest has been completed.

The weapon runes flagged as armor runes bug. On this bug, it seems that I cannot equip a Masterpiece Silverite rune on a weapon as it is flagged as armor also.

I am on my initial playthough and I am at the point where I am gearing up to begin the quest The Assault on Amaranthine, but I don't want to begin this quest until I have access to the top-tier runes. Basically, I can no longer continue the game until these bugs are patched.

Now they refuse to patch the PC unless they also patch the console.  Since console patching is slow and inconsequential, guess what we're left with?

Right after DAO came out and people complained about the Shapeshifter being largely worthless, one of the devs asked how we'd change it as if he'd like to upgrade it in a patch.  It never happened.  No doubt he got pushed into making another DLC, etc.

DAA (or rather, the DAO patch that needs to be in place to run DAA) broke pickpocketting.   A quick hotfix could have been rushed out the door to fix it... nawww.  So much better to just leave an entire skill tree worthless.

Bioware isn't the consumer-focussed company they used to be.

Of course they aren't, they're a greedy, profit-driven corporation with lackluster PR skills, pretty much par for the course for any American institution these days.  However, it's usually only incompetent, single-minded management that causes these kinds of problems (which are staggeringly common), the entirety of Bioware staff cannot properly be blamed (although the incompetent management will usually deflect blame to others).

to get every upgrade you have to
1. save the merchant in the very beginning
2. tell the seneschal during the nobles party to protect everything or just the trade routs.
3. save lillith in the bandit random encounter and ask the qunari in the silverite mine  to trade

if you don't do all of these things you can finish the quest and not get all the up grades.

I thought it was a glitch to but its just very easy to miss a step for me it was the first one so i didn't get any upgrades including the lighting runes so i cloud not make the hartwood item.

If you have done the recent 3:30 firmware update on your PS3 its not the game its the firmware casing it to freeze check out the PS3 tech forum for more info :)

EA seems to focus most of their interest in marketing more ps3/xbox based games, that hardware is being swiftly outdated with dx11 and some of the new PC hardware out. I cant wait to see what some of the companies that realize games are built on the PC in the first place come out with soon while they keep focusing on DLC for a game we cant even finish instead of a quick patch. Maybe some quick big fix's weekly? Even if it's in 10 different patch's we seriously need some support. Throw out some PC test patch's for some of the really big issues, that's what the PC community is for, we are proud to be guinea pigs!

The biggest problem I am having as a 360 user is I cannot load ANY saves. Any of them. It is a blinking joke.

I have so much patience with bugs usually, but obviously this one is rage inducing. I want to enjoy this game, but I literally can't play it!

All of a sudden, my little bugs aren't too bad. None the less, I'll add them to here.

The little maggotty suckers randomly teleport roughly 10 feet behind themselves.

Bugged mobs on evade. You can't kill them, but they're there and they register as a active enemy and so it triggers me into combat.

I missed a part of the dialogue at the end while talking to 'the father' and may or may not have missed an important piece of plot, I dunno. The screen blanked out after Anders talked and then after awhile, up popped a dialogue choice. How was I supposed to choose after that?

What seems to be one hell of a targeting radius. My friend got this too, seems to happen in the one city. Where we're up high, mobs down on the group, combat is triggered and I can neither attack them nor leave the area to fight them. So I'm stuck up in the area, ended up having to do a save reload.

And I placed this in another topic but none the less, ended Dragon Age: Origins with Noka being involved and together with Zevran, got the Zevran Couple ending. I finish off Awakening, I'm suddenly with Lilianna despite her opinion of me could not be any worse off. (It was near 0)

perhaps some kind of patch is coming with this ...
http://social.biowar...06990/1#2507375

edit: my hope got smashed, not one word about a patch; if this dlc is also built on 1.03, it seems to me that a 1.04 is far, far, far away :(

Almost two months have gone since Awakening was released and still not a word from Bioware/EA about a patch... This is really annoying!

At least give us a hint on what you are working on.... I would like to know if I would be able to play this expansion before 2011 and sadly it depends on whether there will be a patch or not!

Doesn´t Bioware/EA have a customer relation manager or is he/she completely bugged, also?

(At least too damn silent!)

Customer relations depends on communication and in this I call it an epic fail with forums overflowing with angry posts about bugs but no answer from BioWare/EA . Respect the community since we are the ones buying your games.

I understand perfectly if Bioware wishes us to play with the new things they put into an expansion, however we do have a fondness for the old stuff, and a shiny new chest to put them in.

It would also be nice to get a patch so that i don't have to be anal about what order i do my quests in, just encase something bugs out :)

Decided to stop playing this myself until a patch is released. There was only so many times I could keep telling myself, 'oh well, its only a side-quest I cant complete'. Wont be rushing into buying the next expansion either, till a good few patches later - lesson learned.

I'm well aware of the requirements to receive the upgrades and I have completed all of them, therefore, this is a bug. But thanks anyway rNEBL.

BTW, you have to do everything he says, AND discuss the topic of trade with Mistress Woolsey, to boot after having done these things. That's step 4. (And you wouldn't automatically know you need to talk with her about it, because she doesn't get quest-flagged.)

If you've done all that, and still no upgrades, congrats, you may have found YANO Awakening bug. I'm sure we still haven't yet found them all.

so they mention a patch 2-3 weeks ago and bam thats it .. meanwhile it seems everyone and their brother cant play the game at all/ or constantly crash..

and somehow we have not banded together to form a lawsuit against these actions>? At least give the money back for the xpac that does not work AND completely F'ed up the reg game w/ your patch...

This is getting ridiculous that companies can get away with this especially with our economy in the dumps.

Seems like every "new" game is full of this crap....

well guess we wait for 6 months before we can play our PRE PAID game f***'ing fail..

i don't get how all that crap happened in your games, i haven't had any of these problems except the joining issue...i started an orlesian warden tho, so maybe it has to do with importing?

oh and oghren would never talk to me for his personal quest either
