Oh, and I absolutely sympathize with programmers - I am one as well. Funnily enough, I'm currently fixing bugs. Luckily enough, my boss doesn't forbid me from talking about the process, as it seems to be the case with Bioware.
And yes, bugfixing is a very time consuming and annoying process - but so is developing new applications or addons (read: DLC).

Zy-El: quit being an apologist for Bioware. And Nathan's post doesn't mean a damn thing. As has been said, modmakers have fixed most of the bugs. Yet Bioware can't after nearly eight freaking months. Bioware has no excuse.
Apologist might be a little strong. I do want Bioware to fix their software. Or at least, fix the toolset in Awakening so that modders can fix the scripting bugs so obvious in Awakening.
I understand their (Bioware's) plight and sympathize with the programmers toiling under the whips of project managers and execs who know spit about programming. The console versions are so f****** up because some third party software company did the ports and are probably not working on the bugs they created leaving the Bioware devs to debug someone else's cr@ppy programming. That's why it is taking so long.
Nathan's post doesn't tell you anything but at least it is Bioware saying something and that was 4 days ago. Bioware should have put up a sticky at the top of the forums reporting on the patch progress and maybe even give a tentative release date; I think that would have alleviated a lot of the frustration that we are feeling and expressing.

There is a way to avoid the companion bug. But you would have to start the expansion from the beginning. Anyway, when you get to Amarathine, don't do any of the "Blight Orphans" quests, except the first one (50 silvers). I don't know why this happens, but the Dragon Age wiki has some info on the problem. I was too late to read about this, and I'm in the same position as you. Waiting for a patch.
The Random Encounter with Velanna's side quest doesn't want to show up, neither does the Lilith encounter. I've been going around the map for hours, waiting for that evil sword clash sound, but all I got is some random bandit and darkspawn attacks.
For some reason, when I got back to Vigil's Keep Lilith was there waiting for me, even though I didn't save her. When I talked to her she said "Thank you for saving me blah blah blah". As I said, I didn't save her. It didn't affect the quest either. Couldn't get a reward from Woolsey.
EDIT: Wow, I accidentaly pressed the "Bioware" sign and thought that there are only two replies.

Thanks for the updates on patch progress in the news forum. If you regularly keep us informed in this way, all is well in my book.

I can't talk details at the moment, but there is another update in the works. We've all been working to compile issues and QA and the dev team have been in bug triage continuously to decide on the contents of the patch and what fixes it will contain.
I've been watching the tech forums more and more to at least get information on issues, even if I don't have a ready fix for them. I'd encourage you to post to the appropriate ones to talk in detail about any issues that are really annoying you. There are posts at the top of each that detail how to report bugs so we can get the best understanding of what's going on and enter them into the bug database. In most cases, we are aware of the issues you'd meet, but a full description, rather than "this thing is broken", is always helpful to making the fixes we can.

Ok, but whatb about us poor lugs who can't even load the game, and keep getting the "failed load" message?

Here in the UK, I have the right to contact my local trading standards and claim my full £29.99 back from Bioware if I so choose as the item I purchased is defective.
My local game store won't accept it as there is nothing they can do. I'm not sure if this game's warrenty covers "bugs".

Wait, all this time and the expac *still* isn't fixed? I still don't have Awakening, and by the looks of things, I probably never will
Amazing isn't it. Anyway...I am another one of those people who LOVE to bits this game BUT is still waiting for Awakening to work properly (and a ~50% cheaper price) before buying.

BioWare, please fix all the bugs ^. Or give the modders the files for awakening so they can fix them; modders are usually way faster. It is important that they get fixed and this list is better documented than reading all posts here.
Unfortunately, some points are still mentioned which have been adressed by the 1.04 patch.
