I wouldn't say that this is the hardest part of the game, but I do find the last battle on Miranda's loyalty mission on the insanity difficulty level to be a bit tougher than some of the other battles. I like that battle though.

Last battle on Horizon, always find that a bit tricky, usualy cause of the dam husks.

For me, and I know this is funny, it's the very first fight on Freedom's Progress. I can handle everything else

On my first play through I had the most trouble on Horizon. When they introduced the Scions + the last battle with the husks.

It wasnt until I found that platform on the left side of the map that it it got easy.

I thought I was the only one!  What gets me is that once I take out the first group, the Dog Mechs+LOKI Mechs come, and there is that LOKI mech on the side.  There is no place to get cover from both enemies

That fight on the Collector ship was the worst.  It may not have cost me that many more "loading" screens than some other battles, but there were so many times where I died through no real fault of my own.

Charge fails, suicidal teammates, HORRIBLE Harbinger spawns, sporadic to non-existent ammo drops.  Its probably the worst designed fight in the game.  Its not even challenging, just frustrating.

ha. I know.

I usually run back out the door and take cover up those little stairs and play a safe game

That first fight is actually really brutal on a NG+.

Mostly a shock factor from my experience.

Finishing up a playthrough and then hopping back in expecting to tear things apart just to find you're really squishy and hit like a nerf gun.

Hardest part is getting Kelly to properly tell you when you have messages or not tell you when you dont and to get her to actually feed your fish

Either this fight or the final fight on horizon. So different to the rest of the game.

An honourable mention does go o the first fight on Freedoms progress. Where the hell are we supposed to take cover?

Anyone else have trouble with the last fight on Grunt's recruit mission. Rocket spam, charging krogab and a YMIR mech. I seem to have more trouble with this than Horizon or the Collector Ship.

As an Adept I took care of that quite easily.  I had Miranda and Mordin on my squad.  I tried to take down the Krogan first, by using Incinerate, then Miranda's Warp, then my warp, then shoot until armor's gone, then slap the Krogan with my singularity.  While I concentrate killing the incapacitated Krogan being hurled around by a singularity, I periodically kept having Miranda overloading the mech's shields.  I also had energy drain as well, so when I had the chance I took out the shields too.  After the shields were gone, I just kept using Incinerate and Warp until the mech's armor was gone, then used singularity, then boom.  Then I go after Jedore.

And to be on topic, I thought Horizon was the hardest, when you encounter the two scions and a wave of husks.  Soooo annoying, but everything after that is a breeze.

some of the hardest fights i remember are;

The third room in Archangel recruitment mission if you only have 1 other squadmate with you. I really enjoy this fight.

The hexagon platform fight in the derelict collector ship.

Inside the derelict reaper is all a lot of fun and a lot of husks.

two of my very favorite missions are the side missions with infinite spawning husks and robots.

I am playing a badly build vanguard on insanity+. I left Mordin last, so no upgrades. (currently at horizon)

The hardest part? All of them were challenging for me... Kasumi was hell (i loved it), Zaeed was worse (found it a bit annoying after a time)...

And I found different places hard for the different classes. My very first playthrough with an infiltrator on veteran, I had trouble (even had to set back the difficulty...) with the Horizon double scion fight, and the Haestrom colossus bit.

On insanity for me the collector platforms are usually the most challenging. The most annoying battles are the praetorian fights, because they take long and its basically just running around cover and shooting whenever possible.

And I loath the Minos Wasteland husk mine mission.

Flamers also die to Incinerate.

Colossus is easy if you're willing to be lame about it. Take the high platform on the right, and find the angle where there's a pillar in the way so you can attack the Colossus but it can't hit you.

Vs Jedore, I take down the Krogan's armour, then Neural Shock him and focus the squad's attention on the YMIR. More Krogans only come out if you kill the one before, so I just keep Shocking him while killing the mech. With the mech gone, Jedore is as good as dead. Pull and Cryo Blast also work as alternatives to Shock for other classes.

The only thing I've never been able to do on Insanity is the downed freighter with the sandstorm and infinite Loki mechs.
