only parts i died on insanity wer last fight on horizon and collector ship platforms. my main problem was when the platform first appears there is a scion and then a second oe shows up not too long after. habinger hits me w/ his black singularity ball and knocks me from cover, then i get blasted by shockwaves and beam fire.

i beat it by focusing on harbinger almost exclusively(killed him like 5 times), then took out scions one at a time. thats the one fight when harbinger possessing his guys seemed to make it easier since h left cover and charged directly at me. just double warped him and used AR with sniper fire each time. also got lucky cause i found a spot wher the scions only fired their shockwaves at me so my squaddies didn't die

Flamers also die to Incinerate.

Colossus is easy if you're willing to be lame about it. Take the high platform on the right, and find the angle where there's a pillar in the way so you can attack the Colossus but it can't hit you.

Vs Jedore, I take down the Krogan's armour, then Neural Shock him and focus the squad's attention on the YMIR. More Krogans only come out if you kill the one before, so I just keep Shocking him while killing the mech. With the mech gone, Jedore is as good as dead. Pull and Cryo Blast also work as alternatives to Shock for other classes.

CAIN... that is all I have to say

You can tell when harbie shoots the black ball of death from the way he moves (at least I think you can :). If you start moving (horizontally, NOT vertically) behind the cover when he launches it, it usually misses the cover you are hiding in.

I didn't do the smuggled cargo mission on my Insanity run. Screw that.

I did it on my Engineer this morning before work. I died a few times until I brought Grunt and Garrus (I usually bring Zaeed on mech-blue suns missions) - double overloads, Grunts survivability, my drone and Locust made it intense but not impossible. I had my arc projector but didn't use it too much. Key is to kill each one separately as fast as possible as I found that they all eventually leave the crates and turn on you - unless I multi-shotted them with the arc projector and didn't even realize :P

* 180 Mechs - Annoying, but not undoable. Patience is key. I didn't do all 180, though. I moved forward far enough to trigger the YMIR Mech, took it out, then ran to the Shuttle to end the mission.

This mission is really easy playing an adept. I was bored once and wanted to see what would happen if I killed all 180. I did it using an adept with mordin and miranda on insanity. Basically i used mordin's incineration blast, singularity to catch a couple of them, and have miranda unstable warp them. Then I pull and warp the  damaged stragglers. That YMIR mech isn't a problem. As soon as you see it, fall back as far as possible without loosing sight of it. It will stop advancing and you can just shoot and cast from afar without worrying about it flanking you,

As for what happens when you kill all 180. Nothing, you automatically leave as if you entered the shuttle.

The hardest parts for me playing an adept are those damned varren swarms. Handling 1 or 2 isn't a problem but 3 or 4 is much harder.

hardest mission for me was playing the dead reaper on hard and above, with no "aoe" abilities letting the husks get out of hand and you'll get swarmed fast lol

The hardest parts of insanity for me are playing classes without sniper rifles against enemies that are in unchargable locations (I'm usually a VG) or up high, such as the collector ambush on the collector ship. Pew-pewing scions down with pistols and SMGs takes quite a bit longer. especially when Harbinger is being a dick and chucking black balls of doom at your face.

Hint 1:  If you move sideways when the black ball of doom is coming, it will veer off and miss you..  (there's no dodging the eyebeams of death!)

Hint 2:  Assault Rifle for distance shots. :)

Yup. I'm aware of this, I was just saying that Harbinger can be a nuisance when you are attempting to ignore him. The collector ship isn't "hard", but I am just saying that it is probably the most difficult part of the game.

I don't like branching out weapons and powers, they make classes more OP than they initially are. Taking Reave on a Vanguard for instance is basically cheating. I go with the Claymore, I find it to be much more fun anyways.

Ok.    I JUST discovered this ball-dodging bit on my third playthrough, which makes Harbinger soooo much easier.  :)

I did Dominate on my Vanguard... gives me something to do until the field gets thinned out a little.

For me, and I know this is funny, it's the very first fight on Freedom's Progress. I can handle everything else

Ah yes Freedom's Dam Progress this place was total hell for me on my 2nd playthru.
Had just finished my 1st playthru on veteran as an infiltrator & decided to go for insanity next so thought i'd get a leg up by importing my lvl 26 infiltrator across, Yeah back then i didn't know enemies lvled with you & the transition from veteran to newgame+ insanity was brutal :crying:
After freedom's progress got my widow bck & nothing else seemed anyhere near as hard as that dam mission.

The only thing I've never been able to do on Insanity is the downed freighter with the sandstorm and infinite Loki mechs.

That's an easy fight, you just have go right and 9 times out of 10 the heavy mech will get stuck where it spawns and becomes unable to move forwards. Having Grunt also helps a bit as he can usually survive up to the heavy mech part. Once the heavy mech is down it's just a matter of whittling down the robots as you slowly advance to the ship.

Me thinks we should only count our first time at any particular mission. So as to avoid the 'aha, an infinite respawn point. Time to leg it!' syndrome.

That said, the hardest for me was Zaeed's loyalty mission. I thought things would cool down once I secured the side rooms (and they looked secure, damnit. No other doors, openings from where more enemies could keep cominng in). I missed the YMIR mech until I was past the second set of doors. Tried to backtrack and ate a shotgun blast from a beamed-up merc as I was running back for cover in preparation for the mech.

Next time I took the mech out with my SR but as I said, I already knew exactly what was happening so that one and succesive playthroughs dont count for me.

EDIT:

Re, Freedoms progress. I felt the idea there was to teach you to trust your team. My first time there I noticed the second set of LOKIs attacking from the side and I thought "Hell. Miranda and Jacob better take care of that stupid dog thing or we are toast" And they did. =]

Disclaimer: It was on Veteran, though. But I never, ever play on high difficulties on my first go. Just personal preference, helps me keep frustration to a minimum.

A few tips on strategies to make insanity ng+ runs easier:-

Contrary to what some people have said, there are no infinite respawns on any level.

If you are having difficulty recruiting grunt use the positioning mentioned above and have at least 3 levels in dominate. With that you strip the krogans armour and then watch him take out the ymech - whilst you sit back with a beer! Never underestimate the power of beer for some lateral thinking!

Praetorians - just run around in big circles from cover to cover using pistol or smg when appropriate. If you move your squadmates out to the side they will be ignored and get free hits in.

Scions - find their tiny little head and take them out very quickly with a sniper rifle.

On Horizon Husks and Scions fight, no need to cheat kill the scions from the doorway. You can't stand and fight. Instead run in big circles around the map from cover to cover, at times running backwards whilst shooting the husks after you. Remember you can punch the husks to stun them, when their armour is down, to give you a chance to run away again. Once the waves of husks are down the scions are easy. Squad fire ammo best imho for organic panic.

Garus Loyalty mission 2 heavy mechs - climb up onto the topmost platform and hide behind cover, firing in the gap between them shooting and firing rockets.

A Husk's armour doesn't have to be down to stun them with a punch.

For myself it would be the second wave of Collectors you face during the biotic shield part and closely followed by that bug monster that makes a barrier for itself (I don't know its name) on the Collector Ship.

This is on Insanity though of course.

When I first started on Insanity I thought the collector platform fight for the first time was impossible. But after getting much better at the game that part is incredibly easy even on NG +. Heavy Singularity completely rapes Harbringer.

But a part I ALWAYS die on is that god forsaken pyro vorcha in Garrus' recruitement mission. It's like the designers purposely put him there just to f$%& with you.
