Thank you again.  I just wanted to make sure cause I am borrowing a usb flash drive and they said if possible for me to put the files on it back, or I'll just buy them another flash drive and put the files on there but i'd rather not do that.

Yeah, no worries, it's totally safe, doesn't mess with the drive at all, everything is reversible :)

I'm doing this today, but before I get underway I want to know if I can edit Shepard's face with this. I'm going to make my character, but do I have to get her face perfect or can I just get it close, look at it in game, and then change it through the modding process?

Yup, you can edit the face as much as you like with Gibbed

has anyone tried installing the game to their 360 HDD and then moving the whole game to a USB drive? then we could really get a look at the 360 version's files. i noticed that it gives you the option the move the whole game install but since i only have a 4gb drive, there was no point in trying it, it wouldn't fit. i'm really curious though. can anyone confirm the results of trying this?

I extracted my save file from USBXTAFGUI_v 17 (Marquis_33_Vanguard_120210) but when asked to open in Modio, I receive an error message stating it's "unable to load the file-reason the system can't find the file specified". It's getting quite annoying the file is on my desktop. Does anyone know what I should do?

Hmm, very strange, you've tried just opening the file manually from Modio? Like clicking on the folder in the upper left hand corner?

Yes I've tried that to no avail. My operating system is XP.

7) How to give your Shepard the eyes of the illusive man(thanks to javierabegazo for PMing me this info)

Open save in Save Editor.
Change to Raw tab.
Expand Squad > Player > Appearance > Morph Head >
Texture Parameters.
Open the Texture Parameters list.

Add two new entries as follows:

code:

Name: EYE_Diff

Value: BIOG_HMM_HED_PROMorph.IllusiveMan.HMM_HED_PROIllusiveman_Eye_Diff

code:

Name: EYE_Spec

Value: BIOG_HMM_HED_PROMorph.IllusiveMan.HMM_HED_PROIllusiveman_Eye_Spec

Open Vector Parameters

Change "EYE_Iris_Colour_Vector" name to "Emis_Color" (without the quotes) and then change the colour values

What do I change the color values to?

Whatever you want.   (sorry if that's not very helpful, but that's an incredibly non-specific question)

You don't have to change the eye color. If you don't then you'll get TIM's eyes but instead of blue they'll be whatever color you chose during the character creation process.

So if I just want the eyes to look exactly like the illusive man do I just leave it as it is or do I have to choose a color?

Also do I put a number in there or actually write a color like (blue) or something like (5, 5, 20, 1)

Ah.  So for the illusive man's eyes what should I put in?
Blue eyes (unnatural): 0,0, 0,0, 0,1, 1

Blue eyes (artificial): 0,0, 0,0, 0,9, 1

Blue eyes (glowing): 0,0, 0,0, 0,10, 1

Blue eyes (spooky): 0,0, 0,0, 0,20, 1

I haven't tried moving it on a usb, but when I hook the hard drive up to my computer the folder that I think has the game installed into it has the game split into a series of 175 mb files without any extension. I'm not sure what program you would use to open them, if any works, because there is no extension to give a clue.

Ok I'm new to all this modding stuff, this is probably the first time I'll do it. This link http://masseffect.wi...eaks_and_Cheats says that it's for PC.I want to use some of the mods in there. Are they all useable? I want to give squadmates other weapons abilities and I want to remove the heavy weapon from my back but I don't know if it will work.

Someone help me out, I'm a little confused on step 12, doing this with a USB.

He says to delete your save that was on the USB and inject the one you modded, and I just want to make sure that means I'm deleting the one that says "Casey_31_Adept" etc. and replacing it with "Save_0012".

Seems like I'm replacing two different things.

Finally got this to work! Thanks for the great guide and help.

I'm wondering, can I mod in my squad members? I'd love to have Legion and Thane early on.

You can but it's going to cause some problems like not getting or being able to go to horizon and perhaps even the collector ship. I never tested this myself so I don't know the full extent of the problems that arise from doing this so do it at your own risk.

No a lot of those things aren't possible through gibbed's, I only posted that link in the opening page as a reference to all the names of the weapons in gibbed's. However it is possible to give your squad mates the three special weapons as long as they have access to the weapon class....so for example I can put the Reverant LMG and Widow SR on Garrus because he has access to assault rifles and sniper rifles. You can also give your squad mates squad points. You can screw with their abilities but I haven't fully tested this so beware of corrupted saves and potential problems.

Anybody know or able to find out if things like Asari facial tattoos will work on your shep?

If they are stored as GIOB_etc_etc_makeup/tattoo and if you could replace the blush texture with that or something?

Thanks Darth Tretton.

I'm also experiencing a texture bug since I did this. When I try using the color black for the first tint on my armor it defaults to the standard grey color. Weird.

That'd be wrong.   You need to delete "Save_0012" and replace it with an edited Save_0012 (using modio).  Then xtaf is used to delete the original Casey_31_Adept and replace it with the Casey_31_Adept that Modio just altered.

Casey_31_Adept is a folder, for all intents and purposes.  Inside it are the individual save files.  Xtaf is used to get the folder on and off the USB, but Modio actually opens up the folder and can extract and replace the individual saves, as well as "close the folder back up properly".

after you make the changes you want in gibbed, you save the .xbsav file. then you use modio to put it back into the Casey_31_Adept file by using the inject option. then you rehash and resign and close modio. you now have a copy of Casey on your usb drive and one on the computer. you erase the one the usb drive and inject the one on your computer which contains the changes you made.

just to be clear, the whole process (simplified) should go something like this...

open usb xtaf, extract character file, back up character file somewhere on computer hdd, open modio, extract xbsav files, open gibbed and make changes, save changes, close gibbed, in modio open character file, inject modified xbsav file, press "rehash and resign" button, close modio, open usb xtaf and delete character file, inject modified character file from computer hdd, move file back to 360 hdd.

character file refers to the Name_3X_class_ date file and xbsav files are the files that look something like save_0010.xbsav contained within the character files. hope this helps.   :)

No that's exactly the opposite of what I said. You can only give weapons within the classes that each party member has access to. So ***IF*** a party member has access to assault rifles then you can give them the Reverant LMG(which is the unique super powered ASSAULT RIFLE) and ***IF*** a party member has access to sniper rifles then you can give them any sniper rifle including the Widow SR.

You CANNOT give a party member a pistol if he/she does not have access to pistos and you CANNOT give a party member a shotgun if that party meber doesn't have access to shotguns.

Yes I know that's the opposite of what you said. However in that link it says you can give characters the ability to use weapons they don't normally use, for example it says that you can give Jacob the ability to use assault rifles. I assume that's only for PC though. What about making my heavy weapon disappear though? Can I do that?

Actually you can give party members any weapon you want, I've given Tali, Jacob, and Miranda a Revenant.
