I'm 99% sure I saw that DAO has a char editor s.t. xbox users can also do this.  I'm hoping to eventually do this, but I haven't yet purchased DAO. [edit: Isn't it just the character creator downloadable from this site. Games->DAO->char creator?]

i totaly lost you there

Here on social.bioware.com there is a menu: games->dao->character creator to download a program.  I was under the impression that xbox users could use that stand-alone character creator program to upload an avatar image the same as the pc users do. (I'm sure I saw a post from a bioware person referring to that same thread for xbox users.  If this still doesn't make sense I'll look harder for that xbox thread.)

oh il look into that

no in the gibbed save editor there is an apearance section under player i always assumed it would be used for editing morph

I'm not sure what Gibbed originally intended there, but I'm planning on putting items to make it easier to mod hair styles, add TIMs eyes, hair/skin/eye colors, etc.  I would like to add a head morph editor, but I'm not sure I can make anything that would be very useful. (I have been looking into it a bit though. Perhaps even export it in a format that other tools could work with?)
Note to bioware: You can save me all this trouble and make a lot of people happy by announcing some character editor download you plan to make available.

well as i said before i have no programing skills but you should look into the values that we talked about in the previous post they seem to be working
edit: here

also in your version of gibbed editor we can read:
This version has been modified from XanderChaos's mod of the original Gibbed version by pordis Shepard. 2011

its kinda confusing id personaly write:
This version has been modified by pordis Shepard from XanderChaos's mod of the original Gibbed version. 2011
or mabe this:
This is a modified version by pordis Shepard based on XanderChaos's mod of the original Gibbed version. 2011

@c3pu2: Thanks. I already have DavidShooter's reference bookmarked. I'm looking into how well I could read facecodes using it and other references as well. I just haven't had a lot of time this week, and I don't do well trying to program in small blocks of time. :)

well you probably could turn them back into slider
by face code do you mean this :133.BFB.J65.G81.U8M.17H.GKI.211.HM5.KJ7.217.116 or something more tecnical that im not aware of

Yes.  To allow people to input facecodes they like directly into Gibbed.  That might be something that could be implemented with only a little more effort once the rest of the appearance is done. Maybe even support me1 facecodes?

for that to work you probably would have to recreate the in game editor inside gibbed because the facecode that appear in a save is a stamp of the face you add in the editor you cant change your morph by changing it and i dont belive it change wen you import a morph or change it tru DavidShooter's method

and for the mass effect 1 facecode they are prety much the same exept some slider that are reversed in ME2

if you have no objection to it i would like to know what you are using to make this editor because as i said before i know nothing of these thing but since im a realy fast learner and if i appen to develop any skill at all i would realy like to help if you want me to of course

Edit: i wouldnt be offended at all if you didnt want me toPosted ImagePosted Image

My thoughts are more along the lines of mapping the face codes to the correct values in Gibbed, rather than recreating the game editor.  So one would input a facecode and then click a button to map the face code values to the morph values. With sufficient information from DavidShooter's reference, it might not be too hard.  Re: me1, my understanding is the values and colors map differently.

Do you mean Gibbed editor?  Because I don't yet have any plans for a character editor.  My first thoughts would probably be to export the head mesh in a format that other tools are able to use, rather than try to create an editor myself.

Gibbed is written in C#.  I can post the source for the last release.  Give me a little while and I'll get the source for the last release posted.  After you look it over, if you want to help with it, pm me and we'll work out a strategy.

P.S.  Gaah!  you changed your avatar.  As Kasumi would say, "Freaky!"   :-)

lol i know ad the same reaction wen markB did it
Edit : i also find it disturbing might change it back

ok tell me if i get it right
1) you want to make a function in gibbed that will allow use the enter a face code then press some thing and then gibbed will make a new face just like it does wen we import one
2) make an export format that would be readable by an existing tool(not sure that would work cause wen you try to input a value that doesnt exist tru davidshooters method it doesnt work gibbed ask you to change the value so it would probably end up in some cluster ******** like wen changing gender without importing a new face)

Is it possible to change the Virmire survivor from ashley to kaidan in a completed ME2 save? Alternatively is it possible to convert a PC save to a xbox save?

Edit: Also is it possible to change the entire save name for example "John_12_Sentinal301101" to "Tom_12_Sentinal301101" so that it comes up as that at the career selector as tom shepard.

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you. I was celebrating that I never have to mine planets ever again.

I know that there's a way to switch your Virmire survivor. But there wouldn't really be a way to check after the suicide mission, but I can't imagine it would make a difference.

There's a couple of different places to adjust name, I'm not sure which one would do the job or if any of them will do. I'll fumble around with it, but if a more experienced user wants to ninja me they're more than free to.

Alright, tried to name edit and that file disappeared entirely. So I'm not sure. I'm sure someone smarter knows how.

Haha yeah, that seemed to do the trick. Too bad I have to do a complete new playthrough.:P I guess I will have to "deal with it". I spent the last six hours trying to rename the career save. Seems impossible at this point. I mainly wanted him to be renamed for ME3 but I am worried that it wont accept the save game if the career name and in-game name are different. Too bad.

also about transfering a pc save to xbox i dont think you can transfer a complete profile but a single save i think that in gibbed wen you save select pc or xbox depending on the one you want

Well, there is a safe way and a slightly more adventurous way. :)

background
The career files are named: <name>_XY_<class>_<date> where
X is the Origin: 0-none, 1-Spacer, 2-Colonist, 3-Earthborn
Y is the Notoriety: 0-none, 1-Sole Survivor, 2-War Hero, 3-Ruthless

The string within the file is "<name> - <class> - <date>" : 3 fields separated by space-hyphen-space

implementation
In the career view of me2 the descriptions come from 2 places: a Display name string within each career, and the name of the career file.  Let's say the career file is named:  John_23_Vanguard_230411, and the string within the career is "Luke - Adept - 170111".  The information on the career browsing screen would be: Luke, Adept, Colonist, Ruthless, 23/04/11.  That is the name and class seem to be read from within the file, and the origin, notoriety, and date seem to be from the career filename.

The safe way
Start a new career with the name and class you want, then insert any modded saves you want within it.

The adventurous way
You can hex edit the career file, or use the experimental tool on my project page "DisplayNameEditor".  All this tool does is let you edit the string within the career file (English only, although that could be changed).  I made a few  sanity checks before changing the string, but I can't guarantee that this program will not change something in an incorrect way.  For one thing, the me2 creator allows fewer characters in a name than either this tool or Gibbed.  I don't know of any problems this causes, but it might.

[edit] Also, I don't check that you enter a correctly formatted string.  I don't rehash/resign the file---use your usual tool for that.

Choose wisely and make backups.  Let's be safe out there folks. :police:

[edit for clarity]
I don't know anything about the profile formats but for game saves my editor should  read and save either version (but I'm not sure how well tested this is---I can't test pc at this time) or Epic Legions tool in his sig here will convert saves to either format, as well as edit plot tables and change head morphs. People have tested it.

Pordis, Thank you so much. You are a genius! Such a simple walk around that i never thought of.

So on to other things, I was going to make a soldier class. How do I go about setting the adrenaline rush cooldown to 1 second?

Hmm....I'm not quite sure if that's possible because the Soldier talents are neither Biotic or Tech in nature, and being able to reduce biotic and tech cooldowns are a result of giving Shep an enormous amount of upgrades. There are no upgrades that make "Combat" powers faster as they are already fairly fast

TL:DR I don't think it's possible, could be wrong
