Hey Pordis, just letting you know that I'm going to be remaking the OP, and will certainly be including your wonderful work in it. :)

great  it realy needed to be done

No kidding :P I was looking over the old one and the FAQ was terribly outdated, and looked like modding the XBOX version would be so difficult and tricky, when in actuality it's really a piece of cake.
My PC is sort of out of commission at the moment, and I"m stuck using my macbook, so I can't take screenshots to post new pictorials of the new programs just yet, may take a day or two but I've cut out most of the gunk.

Always open to suggestions :)

Pordis, Thank you so much. You are a genius! Such a simple walk around that i never thought of.

Thanks.  The DisplayName editor seems to work fine, but it only saves a little time of creating a new career as desired--so I'm not sure how useful it really is.

N7 Vanguard wrote...
So on to other things, I was going to make a soldier class. How do I go about setting the adrenaline rush cooldown to 1 second?

Others had found the biotic and tech cooldowns that I made available in the editor.  I'm not sure how or if they affect the class special powers.  AFAIK the class special powers are problematic--at least on the xbox.

@Javier,  Thanks for the compliment, and a big thanks for updating the OP.   I'm glad I can make a contribution to this editor at a time that saved people some tedious hex editing.

But for those who haven't looked at the code and might not realize---Gibbed has done almost all the work in the editor, and certainly all the really hard work.  The changes I made are perhaps a few percent of the whole.

@Pordis

I've noticed that the Biotic and Tech cooldown upgrades DO affect class Powers that fall within Tech and Biotic classification.

i.e. My infiltrator's cloak has no cooldown whatsoever, and lasts for 2 minutes at a time

@Javier  Good to know. Thanks.

@N7 Vanguard   I guess you could see if the game allows a Level 5 or 6 evolved adrenaline rush in the raw tab->player->powers collection.  Might just ignore it, or give you a corrupted save though.:police:

no offence dude but i personally think its a little to much why not just rearange the op instead of doing all that
you sure went out of your way though cant blame you on that

also you sure that people that dont have google accont can see that

on a more constructive note you should seperate your instruction for the differant mod in clear numbered step its easy to get lost in a paragraph

btw we realy need a thumbs up smiley

Now that is a lot easier to read. Darth_Trethon did the OP well, but it was pretty intimidating.

Thanks, Javier.

The stuff on googledocs is also great. It's better now that those are described separately, rather than complicating the OP

@ c3pu2: You don't need a google account to view them.

Back when Spartas first started locating the (biotic and tech) cooldown fields he was actually specifically looking for the "combat cooldowns" so that adrenaline rush and concussive shot could be used without waiting for recharge.  He never found a field that controlled combat powers. After that,  NuTitan came back and posted a more complete list of things that could be hexedited but there was nothing combat related there either.

I PM'd Spartas not too long ago to ask if he ever found the combat cooldowns (he hasn't been on the board in a while) and he still hadn't.  It's either still unfound (or perhaps there isn't even a field for combat cooldowns at all).

Using concussive blast as my main weapon is something I've wanted to do for a while - it's too bad.

I don't know if you've read the old OP recently, but about 20% of it was full of instruction on how the modding process works using programs from a year ago. We've since been able to cut out several programs from the modding process, and no one needs a transfer cable to do modding, if anything, it's more of a hassle to work with one, so I took that out as well.

I haven't even begun to really write the OP yet, As I said, my PC is down, but when I rewrite it it'll be accompanied with Picture tutorials much like the ones that are already there (i made those year ago)

Anyone with a computer and internet access can view the Google Docs
It's essentially a very simple Blog of sorts.

@Javier Looking good! As you pointed out, as good as the OP was, it was getting quite outdated. Thank you for all your hard work.

The only problem I have is with the easy as waffles...Last time I had waffles I choked...but that's probably just me ;P
Mmmm.  Waffles....Blueberry....Strawberry...Blueberry... I love to waffle 'bout waffles. :D

Edited it again. I want the OP to not be a Wall of Intimidating text, but rather a list of all the wonderful things that's possible with modding, Detailed Instructions can always be provided with links

Added some bullet points in the list of what's possible

@Pordis, got something else in mind that's as tasty as waffles? :)

Did I miss anything anyone?

I'm sure you'll catch things like this when you get the images updated:
1. Current Modio looks quite different than the previous one described.
2. For mods, it might be nice to explicitly mention Gibbed can open saves with descriptive names just fine.  They just must be in Save_XXXX.xbsav name format when injected back into the career file.  E.g.  I like to rename saves as Save_0015.alt-headmorph.xbsav  or Save_0027.Shadow-Broker.xbsav.  Otherwise, it's just too difficult to know why I saved them.  Modio will inject and rename these just fine also (or replace an existing file with one).

I'll go over things more thoroughly and pm you my suggestions if I see anything else.

Yeah, as far as the "FAQ" goes, it's still broken, I'm trying to get my PC up and running so I can make a new picture tutorial and write out steps in a clear concise manner

So the file is not corrupted, but when you load the game freezes?  What exactly did you mod?  Does the game freeze as soon as you try to load the save, or when?  Did you rehash/resign the career file before loading it back on the xbox? Do you get the menu to select individual saves and it only freezes when you select a particular save?

We need more details to help.

As a guess, I would say 1 of 2 things may be happening:
1 you modded something that the game doesn't like.
2. you changed save games in the career file such that the game is trying to load something that no longer exists.

The following has occasionally happened to me:
I have occasionally replaced or deleted saves that the game seems to try to "pre-load".  What I see is that I get the screen to Resume/Load/new game and as soon as I try to Load it seems to freeze.  When this happens it also seems to say the career file is corrupted afterward.  If this is what you are experiencing, and the career shows as corrupted afterward, delete the corrupted career and try loading a different career so the game is no longer looking to resume the modded career. Then put the modded career back on and try switching back to it.  That has worked for me.

It loads but when it finishes the screen turns black but I can still hear the background music. I must of modded something that the game doesn't like(only with that save). Maybe it has to do with Mordin's RM and selecting him as an active member on the Gibbed(?)

@YungD815: Not sure on that. You can try backing out some of your mods until you locate what it doesn't like---then ask here if someone has been able to do it. Not having him as active member might be a good starting point. I know there are cases where you can take members with you on their missions, but I've not done a lot of that. I think the only one I did was with Legion.
