You might try looking over some of the saves at the masseffectsaves web site.  I think they generally list all choices made for the save (some more detailed than others IIRC).

As for changing choices, any me2 plot flags take effect that game.  So you should be able to change after normandy, for multiple saves.  But any me1 plot flags (if me2 flags don't cover all choices, maybe they do---I haven't done a detailed comparison) would have to be imported as NG+ to take effect.

I'm probably beating a dead horse, but how do I know what save I want to modify?

The save game data from the xbox says name-class-(insert numbers here).

Is there any logic to this, and how do I make sense of it?

As Kyle Leblond wrote, the game saves are inside that file.  The OP and Javier's google docs tutorial linked near the end of the OP, should tell you everything you need to know.  Javier  shows Modio, but there are other xbox container readers, as Kyle said.

As far as making sense of the career file, see this post for a description of how it is named and how me2 uses it.

And don't forget to backup.  Let's be safe out there. :police:

The only diff between the game saves on pc v. 360 is the byte-order of the data.  So on pc there is a folder named John_23_Vanguard_230411 which contains game saves: Save_0001.pcsav, Save_0002.pcsav, ...

On 360, there is an xbox container file: John_23_Vanguard_230411 which contains game saves: Save_0001.xbsav, Save_0002.xbsav, ...

So just read in Save_0001.pcsav, and save as Save_0001.xbsav then put it into xbox container file.  Or vice-versa for pc.

I believe xbox container has GT id of who created the container, and the console id it was created on.  The only thing the me2 game cares about is the description string and filename, and that is only for display purposes in selecting a career.  The game saves inside do not have to match.  It just becomes a mess trying to know what they are if they don't match.

Just change the name of the power you have rather than adding more as described for adding powers in Javier's tutorial.  Or am I misunderstanding your question?

That should work fine AFAIK.  I haven't done a lot with power and weapon changes, but I don't know of any problems.

The facecodes are the same, but Gibbed won't create the morph for you from the facecode--you would need to create it in-game and export the headmorph from a game save.  Some of the faces post a headmorph and those work just fine with the modified Gibbed.

also if i need help doing powers i need to know 1 thing is the max u can have 11 ie the 8 + 3 the ones that would be mapped

That's my understanding and I think that's what Javier has in his tutorial, but I've never tried mapping that many.

Here are Mark B's links talking about power mapping:  here and here.

I fixed them once.  Just did again (and yes I tried them after I logged out of google-docs), but I think I fixed them again.  They weren't anything serious though.  Just a lot of trouble for a silly joke.

After I click on a gamesave to open in Modio, nothing happens. Anyone know what might be up? It says "getting file" but then nothing else happens. I don't get an error screen or anything for this either.

do not use modio= crapiest rehasher and resighner use horizon go to xbox.mb u figure out the rest also for modding weapons wise i follow the tuts directly to the letter and i am wondering for any class for example a infiltrator u start off with heavy weapon/smg/pistol/and sniper now what i am wondering oviously i can either give a assault rifle or a shoty to this charecter what i am wonering is if i can completly erase the smg so i can have both while maintainning the benifit of swithing the weapons at anytime without a hassel  and what i mean even more in detail i want my load out o be basicly for every charecter is heavy weapon/assult rifle/shoty/heavypistol/and sniper if u know how to erase the weapons completly ie in this case the smg please help me i already id swapped the smg with the weapon ie the nuke witht he one i wanted but let say i get bored with the nuke and i want to change without using the editor can i do that please assist ASAP

Modio works with the "career files" not the individual game saves.  Gibbed works with the game saves.
To open a career file, use the Modio menu Open file, or Open from device (IIRC).

@kyle leblond what exactly warrants modio as a crappy rehasher and resigner? why is horizon better?
which is better simply for the purpose of ease and less complexity?
