All was pretty standard. Went to my Xbox and checked, the profiles were on the USB Drive. I moved them back to the HDD and then moved one back onto the USB. I also moved my GT profile onto it. Still doesn't show.

Also downloaded a new Modio to see if that was a problem, nada.

I've done it before, so I am obviously missing something. Is it possible that where you are at in the story is a factor. I literally saved these games just as Shepard stood up to head to the weapons locker in the very beginning of the game. Should I play them out until I get to the Normandy (as I recall, that is when I was capable of modding before.)

I have saved in the med clinic when you first wake up many times.  That is not a problem.

What are you calling "profile" ?  The career file named Name_Origin+Notoriety_class_date ?

Do you see them on the usb if you use the "explore device" in Modio?  (From there you can extract the Career and open it as a file from Modio. FWIW)

Sorry so slow to respond... was out for the afternoon.

No worries on the slow respond, we all have lives.

As for what I was referring to, I was taking the save files from my 360 and putting them onto my 360 drive. I was basically doing the same procedure as I was doing before for my succesful mods, but it wouldn't show up in "open
from a device" or "explore device". I am doing everything the same way as I used to, but Modio is no working as it should, it seems.

This actually yielded results for me. Using that program, I was able to find my save, extract it into a folder on my computer, and then use Modio on that (I feel as though usbxtaf could do this itself, but I never used that program before, so I have no idea). That brings me to my next point:

If I go on this route to modify it, and follow all the steps to rehashing and resigning and saving to the device with Modio, would I inject that modified save where the original was with usbxtaf? No further steps required past that?

I appreciate all the help you guys are providing. :)

I've not used usbxtaf but it sounds like you are correct. I forget the exact file structure, but the USB will have a directory created for each game (number for each) and for dlc and gt profile etc. So if u put the rehashed career save in the proper directory you should be fine I would think.

You mean the face codes like they post on masseffect2faces, yes?

First, Gibbed only displays the code from the game save (which may not be correct for the actual headmorph, btw). It will not read one in and create the headmorph.

So the easiest way is to use the game char creator to enter the code and then save the game as soon as u wake up in game. Then use Gibbed to export the headmorph. You can put that headmorph on any game save.

I didn't even think of creating another character to export the headmorph with! thanks XD

you should use usbxtaf to put it back too that way youll be sure to put it at the right place

PS TO ALL: allways back up your save before moding or you might regret it

Well, got everything figured out here. A few more extra steps to go through, and I would still like to know why Modio is acting the way it is, but I can mod the games again.

Thanks for all your help, Pordis Shepard and c3pu2.

Hey, guys, I'm a novice at this, and I wanted to know how I can access the Upgrades menu in Gibbed so I can stack my upgrades on X360. I've spent the better part of today wrapping my mind around this, but I seemed to have hit a snag, and I haven't the time to read well over a hundred pages on the issue, thanks in advance.

Oh, I download the one at the bottom. Stupid me, lol. Thanks a ton!

Another question. Is there anyway I can remove a heavy weapon without replacing it with another weapon? I've only been able to replace it with a Revanent so far, but I just want 4 weapon slots.

EDIT: i just remembered that last week i tried removing all weapon(playing a biotic god so i dont use them so i thought why not remove them) wich is what you want to do just less extreme. so i tried erasing them and wen i loaded in game some were gone and some were replaced by the one you have atb of the game so i asumed it could not be done that way and avent tried since

Paste one of the four guns you want to carry over the heavy weapon (in addition to it's appropriate slot - so you will have it listed twice) in the loadout section and then remove the heavy weapon from the list in the"weapons" section.

It doesn't matter how many times you paste the same gun code in the loadout section - the gun will only appear once.  I am currently playing a soldier and I have the Locust code for every slot in the loadout section, in game my femshep has only one gun.

I'm trying to add more powers to my Soldier Shepard, but every time I go to load my save, the game resets all of my added powers back to the defaults. What am I doing wrong? (I am about half-way through the game).

Is it possible to add Cloak to a Soldier? Or is it a class-specific power?

class specific powers don't AFAIK.  Anything the game lets you choose at the beginning of a 2nd playthrough is available though.

Edit:  I assume you've looked at Javier's google-docs tutorial linked near the end of the OP?

I see you've had some trouble viewing the Pages, I've uploaded a zip file containing all the documents in Word format here:

I've downloaded all of the programs and they work fine. However, I want to start a completely new game with different choices from the first game. I went onto the gibbed editor, chose the option to start a new game, and saved it. When I tried putting it into Modio, it said "Modio could not open it, invalid package type". Can anyone help me?

So I've extracted my save file, modded it with Gibbed Save Editor for Mass Effect 2 and when I go to "Inject File into Current Folder" inside Modio it just continually errors.

"There was an error when saving the file, Reason - Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Any idea? tried running in admin mode, xp compatablity mode all sorts of crap but just get the same old error.

Modio works with the xbox container files, i.e. the career saves .  So you have to use one of your John_31_Soldier_050711 files with Modio.  Gibbed works with the individual game saves that are inside the career file (named e.g.  Save_0001.xbsav)

Re-read the OP carefully, I think you missed a step or two.  HTH

Some variable (object) Modio is trying to work with has not been defined.  Did you remember to open a career save with Modio before trying to inject the game save?  If that isn't it, please report back step-by-step what you are doing, and what versions of programs you are using.

So it's impossible to have a completely new game?

Gibbed spit out a new game for you, but it won't create the career file.  You *could* use an existing career file if you want to, but it does contain some info about the game that will affect how it looks in the career selection screen.
This forum post describes how things seem to work.  If you want the same name and class that's not a problem.

So the only reliable way to completely change everything is to create one in-game.

(Edit to add ref to forum post describing career save file naming and interaction with game menu.)

To be completely clear, you can put game saves in any career file AFAIK, even career from another class, name, or gender.  The difficulty is in keeping track of what the game saves really are since they display info from the career file when you load them.
