The Mass Effect 1 section says you need to import the save as a new game for it to take effect. However the save doesn't show up when I try and import it, only my other 2 saves do.

A lot of the same plot flags are under the me2 table.  If so, they take effect the same game.  If you go the me1 tab route, then follow the instructions in Javier's google docs (linked in the OP).  You must set things the way you want and then under the raw tab set the game as finished: Lived to fight another day.  Note that the Conrad Verner bug is only fixed with the me2 plot table flags.  This apparently is a bug in the game import itself.

yes for some reason the game wont import the paragon version might be on purpose since they avent fixed it yet and me3 is about to come out so probably will not apen

idk if maybe there is a way for xbox that we haven't yet found, but xbox seems to need help finding the textures for the hats.  See this project for example.  The pc version of the head morph works just fine, but on xbox the cap is without colour or texture.  So at the very least, xbox requires something more than pc in finding the proper texture files---or perhaps they are missing completely on xbox, idk.

il try to look in to it this week if i have time
also there is more stuff now like the hair there is 4 texture code there was only 2 before i dont know what the mask and tang r for but i never used em il have to check into that as well

EDIT:
no texture on the cap
partial on the 2 futuristic glasses the mont is white but the glass is properly textured
so i think you might be right they just didnt put em on the 360 dvd's

quick question from a modding-virgin...

I've got my save opened up, and there are flags for ME1 AND ME2 tables here. They look mostly to be the same thing. Should I be flagging boxes in both areas? Or just do one and leave the other alone?

EDIT: No worries.

I guess you figured it out, but the me2 table takes effect immediately in the me2 game.me1 table only are read by the game import, so they only effect a save when it is imported as a new game.

I'm trying to take my ME2 Xbox save and play it on my PC for ME3. I think I understand how to create/convert the save.  The question is, do I have to have ME2 installed on the PC for ME3 to recognize it?  Sorry if it's an obvious answer.

Thanks.

I don't think anyone knows (except bioware) how the me3 import is going to work exactly.  However, I would doubt having me2 installed would be a requirement.  You can d/l the me2 demo to make sure your save imports to it properly.  Or with the discounted prices of me2 pc you can buy one cheaply.  ;-)

Also i converted the save to play on pc and it works fine on my pc it says spacer/ sole survivor like i want it.

So the game won't recognize the changes to the relationships if I already edited the save after import?

Also, if I edit the BDtS outcome, say, save the Hostages, does that mean I changed the flag to let Balak get away?

HOWEVER!!!

It is BioWare's policy that you DO NOT modify our games. We are not responsible for any changes you make to our games and how they may or may not correctly work with future DLC or sequels.

And I know, I hear you say "Priestly, I only moddified the X" or "I only changed the Y, so that cannot hurt anything" or similar. THAT DOES NOT MATTER. Anytime you start mucking around in teh game and moddifying, adding credits, changing appearances, altering anything it MAY have an unexpected effect on future Mass Effect content.

You are welcome to do any modding you so choose, but you DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

@ChrisPriestly
I mod my saves but only on a save made just to mod on. You are totally right about that. In my ME2 ownership, I've modded 4 saves and I don't mod anything I might import into the next game. i modded mainly for the different ME1 storyline because (A) I don't have Mass Effect 1 and (B) I don't want to buy Mass Effect Genesis. I'd much rather play Mass Effect 1 than mod or use ME Genesis, but I'm short on money because I will get Mass Effect 3 for my birthday.

The xbox uses a container file for each career that affects how things display when choosing a career.  The save itself should be fine, but if you want things to display properly for the "new career" see this post for info about the xbox container.

I'm actually not sure about the relationships, but I think anything about me1 not in the me2 plot table needs to be imported as ng+ to affect things.

BDtS:  I don't recall the exact flags, but the game itself only allows the two outcomes afaik.

@djz04  et. al.   This is my take on modding fwiw.

So then I should scrap my Vanguard and go load my Adept to be safe?

I'm not too concerned about the relationships, I just wanted some more meaning for the ME 3 Import for the new Paramour achievement. If BDtS's outcome changes in the ME 2 plot, and it follows for ME 3, I'll be satisfied.

Last question, is there a way to reset a mission? I'd like to change the outcome of Kasumi's mission.

Can't get through a full game with modded saves. Help please!

I've looked around for a solutuion to this for quite some time but no luck and this is the second time that its happened. I have yet to find an answer. Right when I get near the end of the game, after having used Gibbed's to mod since the first level to increase money, weapon/tech & biotic strength, cooldowns, resources and that's it; my game keeps freezing on autosaves right towards the final mission or missions ( the first time I had 2-3 left I think, including the final one). The first few times I was able to just delete the autosave using Modio and then play w/o autosave turned on but then it happened to a normal save as well and I couldn't figure out how to recover that save file so I started a new playthrough. That was over 25-30 hours gone. Now its happened again at 24 or so hours literally RIGHT after the sequence where I controlled Joker. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I still have all the files saved but still no luck getting them to work either...

Thanks for any help at all you can give me,
Rufio

It doesn't sound like you are modding anything improperly, since it usually loads and plays fine.  It actually sounds more like an issue I have occasionally run into with the size of the career file (which became more of a problem after all the dlc releases, since they increased the size of the save files).  I have noticed that when the career file becomes about 1mb in size, the game will often not load for me.. and I suppose when an autosave is created the same thing might happen.  If you have around 10 saves in the career and/or the career is about 1mb in size.  Try extracting some of the saves to your pc for safekeeping and delete them.  If this is the problem, that should fix it.

Note:  Early on playing this game I saved a lot, and I did run into this problem without any modding... so afaik modding the save with Gibbed is not responsible in any way for this issue.

Let us know if this fixes it or not.

i have been thinking a lot about that lately the only issue i see with that is if you checked 2 flag for the same mision that contradict each other. because i have noticed that some are not grouped i could easily apen. so that might be a problem but for now we can only speculate

Yeah I'm going to start checking all my saves again and see if anything is wrong and make sure I didn't mod the faces or anything like that.

Hi! I've got a question.

I just bet the game and I know I can edit the save to make the game think I already played through the game changing the "End Game State" value.

So I tried changing my last save (start of last mission to kill the human reaper) and I used the value "LivedToFightAgain". Played through the last mission so normally I should get the achievement that I played through the game 2 times, no? But It won't pop up :(

Any suggestion?

The LivedToFightAgain is just used to mark the save as finished so it can be imported back into me2 as a completed playthrough.  I don't think it is used at all, except by the import function.

Hi, I have a question.

When importing the save onto my PC, Modio can't seem to find any profiles. I double checked, and my Paragon save is most definitely on my USB. What do I do now?

You know your save is there because you see it from the xbox? or how?
Which Modio version are you using?  I have heard the beta 4 has problems.
Can you explore the usb and see anything using modio? (Sorry, I forget exactly what Modio calls the explore option)
