Hey guys, I wanted to transfer my Xbox 360 saves to my PC (I just got a new gaming laptop) so I can play ME3 starting with my built up character from the past two games.
Do I need to buy ME2 (for the pc this time) and insert the save file onto a blank character in that game, or can I just use the program to extract the save file from my xbox, and then store it in a folder and retrieve it later using ME3's retrieve a career function?

If I can, please detail the steps, I really don't want to wipe my xbox 360 career or screw up my new laptop, and sometimes I do stupid things when not given explicit instructions.....

Thanks in advance, everybody who helped post here is awesome, along with the OP of course

Well (and I don't want to sound like a jerk here) it seems that everybody here is posting about how to move from PC to an xbox 360 for ME3 imports....Does anyone know how to import from 360 to PC and then get ME3 to recognize it? I know you can import the file, but is it a standalone? and if so, Has anybody had success importing modded files into ME3? because I read at least 2 posts saying it doesn't work...

1) Upload your saves to EL's site and download them as xbsav files
2) Fire up ME2 on Xbox 360 and create a new career with the same name as your PC career (e.g. mine was "Jack" Shepard - dare to be different)
3) Run through and get to the first point you can save - after Shepard wakes up and leaves the infirmary
4) Quit to Xbox home screen, go to settings, and go to Memory
5) Open your HD in the menu, then navigate to games - ME2 - your career save
6) MOVE career save onto your Xbox formatted USB drive (it will not copy)
7) Plug the USB into your computer and fire up Modio; hit "Open Save from Device"
8) Navigate to your career save, pop it open, and go into File Contents
9) Now's where those converted files you downloaded come in - inject those (properly formatted: Save_000x) into the career save file. Detailed instructions for this available at the top of this topic
10) Rehash, resign, save file, eject USB
11) Transfer career save back from USB-->Xbox
12) Open ME2, open career save, and enjoy

Cheers.

Also, if I use USBXTAFGUI to inject the saves, rather than Modio, the saves show up in my usb drive when I go to transfer everything back to my xbox, but the saves are corrupted. :/

Sigh.

There are 2 things I have found (with me2.. I have not tried me3 import yet) that causes corrupt files.
1. Forgetting to rehash/resign. (or after doing so forgetting to save to device)
2. Changing something the xbox tries to autoload. For this the solution I have found is to load a different career. Put the modded career back on. Then load the modded career.

I strongly suspect you're doing something wrong. Modio won't give an error when injecting a file - are you trying to OPEN the file, or just inject it into an open career file? All you want to do is go to file contents, right-click, and select "inject file into this directory".

If you're doing that already then I don't have additional suggestions - sorry!

Question: For this PC-to-360 save importing, do you have to have a ME2 career on your 360? Long story short, I played through ME1 on PC, ME2 on PS3, and just bought ME3 for the 360 so I can play multiplayer with my other friends.

Am I boned? I really want to be able to download a save on masseffectsaves.com (one that is closest to my PS3 ending), and start ME3 with it so it feels correct to what I did.

I know me2 will import the saves fine.  I haven't yet tried me3.  If you need a container for xbox files there is one in my project files for a John Shepard soldier you are welcome to try.

I made a couple posts for info on pc to xbox linked in this post.

For xbox to pc, I haven't tried the import function of me2 (and I haven't even tried me3 yet), but pc loads the saves fine if they are in a proper directory for the program.

Okay, Thanks. Are you going to be getting ME3? and if so, could you test this?

I actually received it today, and I shall test things when I can, but it might be a little while.

Fine with me, I'm not getting my new gaming laptop until March 23rd anyways.
If you do manage to import a career into ME3 using a imported/hacked file, I would appreciate it if you posted the steps. Thanks!

I know this is a bit late, 155 pages in. But I'm having real trouble transferring my PC save of ME2 onto my xbox, I've managed to get it on to the HDD and the save shows up in game but when I try and load the save file, nothing happens.
I've tried loading saves with and without the DLC dependancies (using gibbed) but nothing seems t load. I'd really like to put my .pcsave on to the xbox.

Help would be much appreciated, thanks :)

If there is a problem with dlc dependencies, the game will give you a specific warning and refuse to load the save.

So you are loading a pc save file into an existing xbox career?  And you converted it with gibbed to an xbsav file? Can you load other game saves okay?

Can you give a little more detail about exactly the steps you took?

Here are some steps to follow:

  • Prepare you pc save by opening it with Gibbed, then saving as xbsav format. (Note you can change the name on pc to help remember what it is if you need to. It just needs to be changed back---or copied---to the Save_0010.xbsav format before you try to use it in the game.)
  • Move your xbox career to your usb stick.
  • Put the usb into your pc and open Modio.
  • Open the career in Modio
Note: I prefer to extract the whole career to pc so I can work with a copy. By default Modio extracts it to a default directory (iirc somewhere in the user's documents). After you copy it you can open the copy with modio.
  • Since you are just using your pc file you don't need to extract any of the game saves. I would just inject the pc->xbsav file you prepared in step 1 into the container (maybe as Save_0002.xbsav).
Note you can rename the file with Modio after injecting it.
  • rehash/resign
  • load the career back to usb device.
  • eject and remove the usb
  • test it on the xbox
You should be able to load the career directly from the usb (you might need to press Y or something to load from a different device). I know some ppl do have trouble loading saves from usb sticks, but I never have.

[*]Modio wont work on my computer for some reason, it is neccesary to use that program? I saved the file in gibbed as an exbox filed and put it onto the USB. I dont know what rehash and resign is? help please...? I played this through on xbox only but my save file is with my ex on her ebox, so  i dont have access to it. I DLed a file similar to mine, and Im trying to load it to my xbox. Thanks

Yeah, you need a rehash and resigning program, otherwise it won't work.

So, lost my ME1+ME2 career to a broken old Xbox 360 Elite HDD. Trying get a game save going so that I can somewhat continue my career without being completely gimped of my decisions. However, I have a small problem. Does anyone know why my save file won't show up on Modio?

-Made a new career save game on ME2.
-Saved as soon as it became available.
-Moved save from HDD to USB
-Plug into PC & open Modio.
-Open from a device
-No profiles found...

That's all I keep getting, what the heck am I doing wrong? I just want freaking play ME3..:(

I never had ME1 or ME2 or the 360. I had them on PC. At this point, I don't care if it's my own as long as the options are the same, which im sure I can find online, but how do I move a save to my 360 from PC? The usb stick is recognized and xbox formatted, I even used legions tool. But nothing appears on the usb drive in my xbox. What is the simplest thing to do?

Note: I play on the Xbox 360

I am completely hopeless. I've lost all of my saves, and my saves from Mass Effect 2 (modified decisions from ME1) are not working. Mass Effect 3 does not recognize any of my decisions that I made, or modded. I chose:
Kaidan
Save Council
Anderson
Save Rachni
And I got the exact opposites for everything, when I transfered it.

I'm going to try to use a PC save, but I need a folder/vessel to put my file in. I've tried the one at the bottom of this page http://social.biowar...ect/4373/#files and it does not work. What am I doing wrong? Could anyone walk me through the steps for converting and using a Mass Effect 2 PC save with the Xbox 360?

I'm seriously willing to pay money to the person who helps me fix this, or can modify this save:

http://masseffect2sa...ad.php?file=275

to work for the xbox 360. I know how to convert .pcsav to .xbsav, I just can't get anything to work for me. Please help, I'm so disappointed.

I've gotten it to import properly using saves off masseffectsaves, but there seems to be something wrong with the romance plot for ME1 plot. Every save I try says it has no ME1 Love interest when i try to import.

Edit: I got it to work without the ME! romance. Sad face, No Ashley or Liara romance
1.  I used my roommate's ME2 to make a save folder on my flash drive.
2.  Modded a final save from Masseffextsaves, using the Gibbed Editter.
3.  Used modio 4 to open flash drive and enter Modded save file.
4.  Rehash, Resign, Safely remove flash drive, Plug in and Import.

Let me know if someone figures out how to get Me1 romances working right.

Create a new profile on Mass Effect 2 (Make the Gender the same, the name doesn't have to match if you don't want it to) and get up to the part where Shep wakes up. Make 1 save and export your game to THIS version of modio (others don't allow injection):
http://hotfile.com/d...odio_3.zip.html

Get whatever save you want, and inject it. Rehas/Resign, load up the save and you're good to go. add me on XBL, I'll be glad to help you.

Is it possible to use this to change the fate of Kaidan or Ashley in ME1 on a ME2 save? I want to have it so Kaidan was saved, not Ashley.

Consulted with a friend, and looks like I can! Was super easy too. Everything appeared alright in ME2 (my character was intact at least, didn't really do much other than load him) and the change is listed in my choices/outcomes when I intiate an import to ME3. Now just to wait for that face import patch...

Nevermind it's working perfectly except for one minor thing. I'll worry about it later.
