How to mod ME2 for the Xbox 360 - updated 5/3/2011-

But we need more people doing this, because this is only at 20 pages...we need more color codes and stuff. How should I get bright, beautiful caramel colored eyes for my female Shepard? I mean...this color stuff is tricky. I don't want to change them and either have it be way off or not enough and have to do it again. I've already changed the hair and lips...hope they work.
I've got a bit of a problem though...I want to mod something noticeable, to make this a bit more worthwhile...but I don't want it to break the game. Any ideas for something cool to do other than little cosmetic changes?

looks wise, all we can change right now is hair, and face colors. you could change your skin tone to something funky, or your lips, hair, eyes, and makeup.

I've made the changes, I inject the files, rehash and resign, etc etc., go back to the 360, move the file on to the hard drive, go to play, and nothing has changed. That would mean the character file on the desktop hasn't changed at all...but that's the one I'm editing, right? After I click rehash and resign, that means Modio puts the edited save in my character file on the desktop, then I inject that into the USB after getting rid of the one that was originally on the USB...right? Why isn't anything changing?
Edit: Weird, got it. Just messed around a few more times.
Bleh, not much difference. I guess I'll keep working.

It's a single player game. They don't have the ability to scan those saves for tampering and since it's not like any of us are screwing with achievements, gamerscore, and stuff like that, Microsoft has no way to know we're modding.DTKT wrote...

The trinket - you can tell Tali about it when you first meet her to prove that you are indeed Shepard.

How do you get ammo for weapons - I have added an inflated number but after the clip is empited I cant reload the weapon ie Ammo 10000000, clip 0 and when you reload nothing happens.

You probably put too much ammo. 999999 works fine for me.
That is NOT the trinket. What you gave Tali was "Geth Data" obtained from fighting the geth across 5 planets in 5 planetary systems. The trinket is a prothean artifact that is given to you by the consort on the citadel if you help her out and then clear her reputation. Later you can use the trinket on a planet called Elatania where you find a strange sphere similar to the one at the end of the firewalker pack. I remember the all these missions quite well. I HAVE played the game over 30 times.

Just think of it as an over sized cheat code. You are not tampering with the system

can anyone who has successfully changed their lip color in gibbed please tell me how you did it? i've tried changing HED_Lips_Tint_Vector but it did nothing. do i just have to make the values really high or am i changing the wrong thing?
I only play male characters so I can't test this but I suggest you try different A values and see what it does. Try putting A at .5 and at 1.5 and see what effects it has if any.

I assume it's possible to change characters' names on the editor. I'd like to know, I imported the same character from ME1 twice and I'd like to change her name. I'm also assuming that it's possible to change levels, this import is level 3 and I want a 30 and all the points. My only concern are squadmates, will they level up too? Or am I going to have to level them up differently.
As for casual outfits, I hope they can be used. I'm tired of using the Cerberus clothing. I'm also hoping someone can find out how to unlock ME1 armors and make them useable the customizable armor. I've seen the PC modders doing this so it can be done. However I assume it will depend on the editor's abilities to see if it can be done or not.
Casual outfits can be changed in the editor. I don't know to what extent, but i changed either the casual ID or the Full body ID number to 95 and started this new Shepard in her formal dress.

modding is for gamers who can't play like men.
I disagree, sometimes mods can be incredibly useful and almost necessary to fix something such as a bug in game. If a player chooses to use a mod, regardless of what it does, it is up to them and them alone.
I've lost count of how many times I've complete Mass Effect 2 and to be quite honest I'm bored of it. If a mod makes the game make me want to return to it and have fun playing it, then I have no problem with that.

You could try using Le Fluffie but the thing is completely incapable of rebuilding my saves. It extracts just fine and I can insert modded saves in it but the button to actaully rebuild the saves is broken(this is the equivalent of Modio's Rehash & Resign) so if I can't rebuild the save then everything else is pointless because I'll never be able to use the modded saves.

There's gotta be a better way to do this than looking at colors in MS Paint - common sense, and my last several tries show that even if something looks good on the program...all the lighting effects in a video game will make it look horrible.
Anyone got tips for skin tones?
The color nuances can be very speciffic and changing the ammount of a color by .1 over the others can make a drastic difference. You can try blindly trying things or you can pick the exact color you want and calculate its values for the save editor. I mean all you have to do is a simple division and it's not like you have to do it by hand either....if you don't have a basic calculator at home I'm sure your computer has one or you can easily find one online. If you've got a better idea for choosing exactly the color you want with something other than paint then by all means enlighten us but it really isn't that difficult.....pick your desired color, perform a simple division and enter values into the save editor....that's already VERY simple as it is.

Can you elaborate on this simple division? Which numbers do I divide to get the corresponding color through the Save Editor?

In Paint start messing with custom collors. At the bottom right you will see three values for R, B and G that are in the range between 0 and 255. Obviously these wouldn't work in the save editor because anything over 1 already makes colors bright. So you take Paint's values and divide them all by 255. Take pure white for an easy example. The RBG values for pure white in paint are 255, 255 and 255. Take those numberes, divide them by 255 and you've left with 1, 1 and 1. Put 1, 1 and 1 for RBG in the save editor for hair and you'll have white hair. Just find the color you like, divide all three by 255 and you should be left with three numbers that are equat to or smaller than 1 that work just nice in the save editor. Custom collors will usually give you things like .542690213 or something similar so you'll probably want to write them down after dividing.

Just curious, since I read on the masseffect2faces website, that said something like modding hair could be interesting on male Sheps, and I could of sworn I saw a male Shep with the fem shep mohawk on that site one time. So we can use female shep hairstyles on males right? I actually think that one long hairstyle with the bangs could look good on a male shep.

You can do it but it won't look right on male shep. The animations will be mostly broken because maleshep's head is of a different shape than femshep's.

That's what I've been doing, I'm saying the color you get in Paint doesn't really translate the same way in the game. Paint is just the single color, with no effects or angles to distort it. But in the game, that skin tone might look completely different...
It just seems like a LOT of trial and error, and I was wondering if anyone's figured out a way to make it easier.

Would you know how I could get a Shepard Skin color like this?
