Off topic from the current discussion but I would appreciate some advice.

-Is it worth installing this game to my 360 hard drive? I have lots of space so that isn't an issue - I play this game a lot too.
-Does the game perform better (faster load times for example) when it's on the hard drive?
-Would having this on my hard drive change the modding instructions on page 1 at all?
-Is there anything to consider that might not be obvious?.

Yes, Yes, No, and as for the less than obvious some people have speculated that installing to the hard drive might be a means of implimenting more complex mods though this is only theoretical at present.

NOTE:  My hard drive isn't the stock version Microsoft sells, so my loading times might be a little faster than typical.  I got it from a guy on ebay who sells higher RPM hard drives from the same manufacturer Microsoft buys their hard drives from and then modifies them to work with the 360.

Very interesting, do you think you could PM a little bit more info about this HDD?

Could you send me a link to that guy's harddrives?

Does anyone know how big the game is?

ME2 Disc 1  = 6.4 gb's

ME2 Disc 2  = 6.0 gb's

And yes, I have both discs installed, since I have the extra HDD room. I also get less graphical bugs/glitches when it's installed as well. I highly recommend installing it if you can afford the space. Sure you still have to switch discs, but in a 30-40 hour game, switching discs twice isn't a big deal anyhow

•If you want to then do it,
•I have barely noticed faster load times when I installed games to my harddrive, though I haven't installed ME2 so I can't say anything about this game
•No, you are modding the save...not the game itself.

Thanks, I just hate switching the discs all the time and since I'm always playing multiple characters at different points in the game it does come up more than it would if I was just going through the entire game with one character at a time.  I did some googling and it seems at though some games (Halo 3) really suck when played from the hard drive so I was wondering what the word on this game was.

Does anyone know how big the game is?

Even though you install it to your harddrive you still have to switch disks I believe.

Really?  I was hoping just having one of the discs in the drive would be enough to prove I actually bought the game - that's the only reason you need to actually have a disc in there isn't it?  Can anyone confirm that discs still need to be switched - that will suck.

Nevermond just saw the post above - thanks

That's cool but MS is always out to detect and incapacitate storage devices they didn't authorize with the recent patch that incapacitated Datel's devices and more not long before we got USB support. I don't see why bother using MS storage devices because I've used my 120 gig for years and I have a ton of DLC on it as well as music and movies and I still have 60 GB free....not to mention that now we can get 250 GB hard drives. The storage itself doesn't benefit anything as long as you're not running out of space as I can't see that happening on a 120 or 250 HD.

I've had no problems with mine and I got one of those cheap china hard drives off ebay as well.

The seller's name is usafa777.  His listings give all the info you could possibly want about his hard drives. In brief they are totally legal, made by the same manufacturer as the model Microsoft uses and they are delivered in the 360 casing preformated and ready to install.  They're faster because they run at 7200 RPM as opposed to the 5400 RPM speed of the stock model and he makes 120GB and 250 GB models both of which are quite a bit cheaper then buying a new hard drive from Microsoft.

Here are the benchmarks he posts on each listing....

ACTUAL BENCHMARKS, using the new game Borderlands...these are load times to start the game:

1) Mem card only, running off DVD-rom (no HDD).............................................. = 32 seconds
2) Loaded onto 5400-120gb HDD & played off HDD............................................. = 24 secs
3) Loaded onto 7200-120gb HDD & played off HDD............................................. = 18 secs (25% faster)
4) Loaded onto 5400-250gb HDD & played off HDD............................................. = 27 secs
5) Loaded onto 7200-250gb HDD & played off HDD............................................. = 24 secs (about 10% faster)

If you want more info go check out one of his listings.  For what its worth I got one of the 7200 RPM 120GB models and its definitely faster than the stock 5400 RPM, 20GB hard drive I replaced.  His ebay page is....

I bought mine before Christmas after the service update which disabled a lot of modded 360's and the Datel devices and I asked the guy if they were still good to go after the update and he said that Microsoft had never given him any trouble about what he's doing.  Additionally the fact that the hard drives he's selling are made by the same manufacturer makes it seem like it would be pretty difficult for them to even be detected in the first place.  Still it is a slight risk.

Here's what he posted on his listings about the issue.

[*]IMPORTANT NOTE!  These ARE compatible with the latest Xbox Live updates, both the 10/28/09 (the so-called twitter update for xbox 360) AND the most recent update on 4/6/10. I have checked with numerous previous buyers (and my own), as well as forums, and have confirmed this. The "ban hammer" over the past few months was targeted at PIRATED and MODDED consoles and games, and I do NOT support or condone piracy--these drives are blank when you get them, ready to put whatever YOU want on them.

Through the Gibb's Editor, I was able to add lots and lots of spendable ability points for my Shepard. :o

Can the same be done for my other squadmates via the Gibb's Editor?

Yes....in the Raw tab Under "Squad" click on "Henchmen" and then click on the little box with dots to the right of it(like theis: [...]) and in there select each squad member and add squad points to them.....though personally I find the X+A glitch to work faster but that's just me.

X+A Glitch?

You need to have 10 unspent points for Shepard or squadmates to use this glitch.....really easy to get with ME1 level 60 import, NG+ or simply the "Refund All Talent Points" button for the squad mates in the Toolbox tab of the save editor.

With 10 unspent points rise a skill to level 3, move the highlight box ove the upgrade to level 4 button and simutaneously press X and A. They have to be pressed at the same time or it won't work. If done correctly your pints will be refunded and you'll still be able to upgrade the power  and max it out at level 4. Now go to the next one and repeat.

In the LEVEL UP Menu, you need atleast 10 squad points for this to work on a Power you haven't spent points in, or just enough points to Evolve the Ability to level 4.

When the ability is at level 3, press X and A together, and you should hear a special clicking noise, and as it brings up the Evolution Menu, you'll notice that the Skill bar with all 4 slots is empty. If see this, that means you've done the glitch correctly.

From here, evolve the power as you like, and you'll notice that your 10 squad points that went into that ability have been refunded.

Tada!! the abliity to max out every ability

EDIT:
*sighs*

ninja'ed me good, Darth Trethon, ninja'ed me good....

Equipping Armor Components through Corresponding Codes with Gibbed

These highlighted ID's correspond to Shepard's Modular Armor that he has equipped.

I've found that despite NOT having purchased certain pieces of equipment, plugging in the right code will equip on you the corresponding Piece of Armor.

This can be VERY useful if you're not playing a NG+ game, but you want your Vanguard to have right in the very beginning of the game, for example, the +25% Melee Dmg bonus from "Strength Boost Shoulder Pads", which you would normally only get to acquire at Tuchanka, late in the game.

Unlocking Squad Member's Loyalty Powers WITHOUT Breaking Plot Continuity

This will unlock the ability to use the squad member's Loyalty Power, as soon as you've recruited them.

Go into RAW > 2.SQUAD > HENCHMEN > COLLECTION > *DESIRED SQUAD MEMBER* > POWERS > COLLECTION

Go to LOYALTY REQUIREMENT listed in the list of Powers

Under Current Rank, make the value "1" instead of "0".

This unlocks the squadmember's loyalty power, Don't forget to give the squad member ability points so that you can Evolve their power or just use the X+A Button Cheat for the XBOX

You don't need to use a save game editor if you want inifinte ability points for you and your team members.

Next time you start a new game. Wait until you have around 10 ability points. Upgrade to stage three, the press A + X together and you will unlock stage 4 aswell as get your point back. This gives you infinite points to then upgrade the rest by repeating the process.

I've switched Miranda's outfit to black so it can be done. Check alternate appearance and 1st appearance and you will get the option to switch her outfits from the team status menu. This edit however is tied to plot flow and will cause the galaxy map to open and Horizon will not trigger on it's own. I don't know if all characters are tied to plot flow though.

Question:
I've seen PC mods where the color options for armor have been greatly expanded to include lots of extra colors and even what appears to be glowing armor. Does anyone know if this is possible with gibbed?

Well I downloaded those 4 programs from the first thread, then my head burnt out when a **** load of files were asking me to extract and stuff. I don't have a clue about any of this, so I guess if I go back to Mass Effect 2 then I will be only playing with basic weapons, as there is no friggin way I am scanning for minerals anymore lol.

These programs, MODIO, GIBBED, and USB Xtaf are ALL NON INSTALL programs. they're just humble portable programs, to delete them, delete the folder that contains the program, simple as pie
